Cruella, I gotta say, you for the record are the only person who gets enraged over seeing spots for no reason. I mean what are you, some kinda French rage monster or something? Not an insult to you or anyone. I'm just asking.
No, it was Dr. Pavlov’s fault for not saying anything. He’s partly responsible. That’s a big criticism I have with 102 Dalmatians. Is that they don’t involve him in the plot line again after this. Had he told the truth about his discovery that Big Ben ruins his work, he might have been able to do something though it may have damaged his reputation.
The way this scene played out it was actually pretty clever. From her hair becoming more wild, to her loss of Ella and return to Cruella as her gloves noticeably turn white to black, this was actually clever.
Fun fact: This whole sequence up until the wide shot of London covered in spots was done practically. There was a cast of sixty extras clothed in spotty costumes, two buses were spotted, five taxis, seven vehicles, two vans, twenty-eight umbrellas, and Cruella’s car as well as the doves were also spotted. Most films nowadays wouldn’t even bother going down the practical route, instead VFX would be the lazier way around.
