Leeteuk might allow the younger one to tease him, hit him, but never forget he is the leader and the oldest here, he demands respect here. Beside, he never got angry since then. The same with the other members, Leeteuk lost his temper just once, and never again. (Well, maybe not Yesung, those two will never fight XD)

I think this has something to do with beeing leader. Its the same as a teacher will loose the respect of there kids if there will speak informal with him, like to a friend. i think thats why Leeteuk is desprate in beeing formally spoken. It's kind of annoying how much importance they place on speaking formally or informally. Jeez, those two've known each other for how many years, why is something like that necessary. The honorific system in korea puts up such barriers between people if they're not the same age.

I have to disagree. Of course there is nothing wrong in respecting somebody. But respect comes when somebody deserves it. Just being a few years older doesn't necessary mean the person has better judgement. And if the person has given you no reason to respect them and if you actually don't respect them then what?... It's still expected of you to speak so formally and use humble words which I don't think is right. Respect should be earned. Also it should be mutual.
