Fun Fact: When I was 13 years old in 1978, I made my first ever television appearance on WNBC-TV in New York doing an editorial on violence in sports as part of their Your Opinion editorial series, where they would have the station's viewers come on for about a minute and talk about issues of the day affecting them.
Fact of interest: Channel 4's future callsign was an NBC station in New Britain, Connecticut, which was also WNBC. It stood only for the town, not the National Broadcasting Company.
Gotta love those 'landmark' logos (Central Park, the Harbor, Rockefeller Center, Coney Island, and the Empire State Building). Those were sophisticated animation. I'm astonished that NBC didn't do much the same for its owned-and-operated stations in Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Historical call signs: WNBT (1941-1956) WRCA (1956-1960) WNBC (1960-) (originally used in Hartford, CT, just 4 years before relocated the calls in relationship with AM and FM.) Ownership: NBC reds (1941-1946) NBC (1946-) (itself) Call sign meaning: • NBC - network where it originated itself. • After the original call sign for New York's sports station WFAN radio (660) Reactions: 4:33 - What if Columbo (Peter Falk) had a wife through his legacy. 5:18 - "You're gonna make it after all!" *(Mary tosses the hat, and scene freezes)* 5:21 - Btw, the game show, "The Price is Right," is supposed to be CBS, but it was originally syndicated to TV stations. 10:47 - Phil Donahue said it's supposed to be Abigail Van Buren, creator of "Dear Abby" column for daily newspapers. 13:58 - Ah, there must be studio 1A, the set from "NBC Today Show."
There was a nighttime syndicated version of "The Price Is Right" concurrent with the daytime CBS version, hosted by Dennis James in place of Bob Barker. I saw it in Dallas on future sister station KXAS.
Columbo always mentioned his wife, though she never made an appearance on his show. "Mrs. Columbo" was a spinoff starring the future Captain Janeway, Kate Mulgrew.

I wish some of these stations would blow the dust off these 1950s/1960s logo designs and renew them for today. They were 5 seconds of pure class.

The first TV station in America no less! Lucky son of a gun!

In 1966, NBC traded Philadelphia for Cleveland.
The current news opens in LA and NY are very similar.
