Illinois' biggest weakness the last 2 years, (Since Kofi was gone.) was defense in the post. This goes a long way fixing that. That's why they basically had no chance against Purdue and Edey etc.
Before this signing, Writing Illini had Illinois' 6' 8" freshman as the post man. That can work against most teams defensively, but play a team with a big/tall post guy and it was a recipe for disaster.
I would much rather have Morez Johnson playing the power forward position. This signing will also make Morez's job much easier and he will now be a much more impact player.
Now I would like to see 1 more big man signed to back up Tomislav. That would make Illinois' size a strength that other teams would have problems with.

Think about this..... the ILLINI have built a structure for a pro team. Not necessarily in the truest sense but they will be like an expansion team in their first season. We have (2) Two players returning so where is the cheering from the fans focused at ? Whom do you yell for like "Lets go Ty". Cmon DGL get the ball.... Never have seen anything like this.....NOT even from Kentucky Is this the future of college BB ??? I will see all these players wearing the ILLINI jersey but then what There is no connection from the fans to feel a sense "my team " Does that mean I am no longer a ILLINI fan, supporter ? No, what it means is I don't feel any sense of caring on both the good and bad plays. It just got sterilized is what I'm saying. Do you get what i'm thinking

To be honest to me the GLUE guy is the ONE to not only mentor these bigs but captain a ship to a final four...He knows the brain of his coach and could sheperd this team to greatness and increase his value to any NBA team..Its Coleman Hawkins

Underrated element that the guys didn’t touch on is that most of these international FIFA cannot collect NIL so Illinois filling 1 or possibly 2 spots with internationals means they should have more money available for a top American player

I’m not a Brad Underwood fan. He has proven not to be a coach but a recruiter. He has ruined this year’s team. Gone are Dainja, Goode, and others. The Illini are not in the top 25 teams and this is after being an elite 8 team. Not ranked ESPN sports. 24-25 will be a sad season for Illini basketball.

He is going to be a good player in time but he needs to put on some weight and muscle 💪.

He will redshirt and then likely transfer without playing a game. He is a smart kid and knows he needs physical development. Illinois is tops in that respect. Sadly nobody is staying 4 years at a program so he is a guarantee 100% transfer eventually, 75% after redshirt year.
