Oh my, I had never thought they would do THIS ONE live! You think Freddie by all the repeatings tried to get audience to sing? I think he attempted, but did it his own way, when they weren't on it xD Lol, right after "fear for your life" Freddie makes this FUNNY jump! Haha xD But it was BRILLIANT! Words can't explain!
I was there too, my first ever live gig and I was hooked. Actually managed to park my car fairly close (those were the days). Toilets? hahaha perhaps they existed but I only remember people forming a huge line along some bushes! Also the constant battle netween those standing near the stage and those who wanted to sit, with missiles flying everywhere. After, 2 free albums were offered to anyone who volunteered to clear the mess. One of the best days of my life.
I ve trying to get this version for more than 2 decades I heard once in the radio in a bootleg recording but never again not even in Napster - thank you very much
My brother saw them on this tour in a smallish club in Passaic, NJ. Queen and Talking Heads are the only 2 bands I've never really had a chance to see live. You are a lucky individual!
They truly could create any kind of mood. Freddie really sounds like he is channeling some ancient mystic chant here, and Brian's lyrics are incredibly epic.
@townofnavy This video doesn't include the delays. Probably a panning issue with this video. If you watch other vids of this performance, the delay is there.
friggin' brilliant! i'm a massive queen fan, but i never knew this stuff existed until i got broadband. i love this song, and the effort from freddie was simply awesome! who needs a reverb machine?
This song was included on the setlist of this tour. Normaly they used the delay-machine on this song, but during this show the machine broke down. How well Freddie solved the problem with his improvisations. The man was A GENIOUS!!!! He is the Bach, Beethoven, Mozart or Chopin of this era!!
This recording had problems. You cannot hear the delaymachine, which usaly was used in the voice-solo part of this song. But in the audiance the delaymachine was heard.
Yeah, he's said in multiple interviews that he's not the leader of the band, he's merely the singer. It unfortunate that he gets credited for the songs Brian, Roger, and John wrote.
I have another audio and video file that at the moment I couldn't Upload is a medley with White Man, well the thing I wanna say is that seems he has the Delay on but for some reason it cant be heard in this tape, but in all live version of this the creative wave in armonic game he solve the song is truley amazing
I do not knew about this jaja now I thing more and more that Freddie was a real Genious, I thoug the delay part was an recording error at this file, how ever very creative and by the way check out Madame - Innuendo cover, very creative to solve the "flamenco interlude"
What I heard was that the echo-machine wasn't working, so all the repeatingeffects (like on the album and what they did live as well) were ommised in this rendition of this song. Kind of took the soul out of the song.
I'm 14 years late to this comment lmao, but actually it was working just fine as far as the audience could tell (check out the great audience recording of hyde park) it just wasn't set as one of the tracks recorded for the audio stream (this bootleg)
Because you need a some effects from machine, which create an echo. In this version, that equipment has failed and Freddie must have to do himself. In studio, there's been a lot of voices and it was easier to do it. The same thing like medium part of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Queen RULED! Freddie was one of the best vocalists ever to grace the world of Rock music. And I just DARE anyone to go as deep in lyrics as this song goes!
they didnt even play it in Houston! (although it's on News of the world tour setlist) btw i think u meant the one from Earl's Court but it's just reprise
This was horrible, But it rocks like hell. I wish Freddie 'd done it in the 80's when his voice was at his most. Don't take me wrong I love Queen, but it's one of the few bands that actually got better with the years. It wasn't until the very late 70's that Freddie figured out how to sing his own somgs, then he became a GOD.
Is this the only time they did it live? It sounds like Freddie was looking for a kick and then just said this song and they had to do it. Well done still. Freddie sounds like his voice has been singing too much lately. He sounds a little tortured... They should have done the delay they use on the album...
This live version was quite poor but on the record I think this song is as good as Bohemiian Rhapsody if not better. The guitar riffs are certainly heavier! Neither before nor since has songs like this been written in the name of Rock´n Roll.
maybe it sounds bad because of the recording i mean it's too old!!! we have to recognize it's a really hard MASTERPIECE to perform live...bravo Freddie...! y dejen de estar chingando si era homosexual eso no es ningun problema...deberiamos estar felices por haber escuchado a la mejor voz masculina de todos los tiempos...honrados por haber tenido semejante monstruo musical con tal calidad de arte....no habra nadie jamas como el asi que no molesten con que si era gay o no...putos ACOMPLEJADOS!
bloody hell i was only 15 when my brother took me to this concert, it got me hooked on queen for life.
The Song ! T-H-E Song of Queen !
Oh my, I had never thought they would do THIS ONE live!

Amazing... Just Amazing
I was in 3rd grade when this came out.so much talent on that stage that night.
was there and was only 13, me and a friend went, dont remember much except sooooo many people.
This is my favorite Queen song.
great!
a great song!
My brother saw them on this tour in a smallish club in Passaic, NJ. Queen and Talking Heads are the only 2 bands I've never really had a chance to see live. You are a lucky individual!
I can't believe the delay machine broke down.. and Freddie STILL managed to pull it off. Amazing.
My favourite Queen song, hands down.
They truly could create any kind of mood. Freddie really sounds like he is channeling some ancient mystic chant here, and Brian's lyrics are incredibly epic.

Sweet
one of my fave songs to this day . rock on freddie

To jest genialne!
lo mejor de lo mejor freddie te extrañamos
This concert is very good but quality is terrible
TYSM for sharing 👑 ❤ 😊
I think you meant "improvise"- and thanks for sharing that with us. I appreciate this performance more now. Only Freddie could've pulled it off!
No, it was included in the set-list of that tour. Normaly they used a delay-machine, but in this show the machine broke down.
this is possibly my fave queen song
This truly is something religious, genius! Iám speechless.
this is exceptional .. pity the sound quality isn't as such that we can hear the delays well.
heir heir .. a lot of true metal singers would kill for the reach freddy had .. and a lot of them really love the music Queen made..
This recording had problems. You cannot hear the delaymachine, which usaly was used in the voice-solo part of this song. But in the audiance the delaymachine was heard.

he used to be high all time!!! god bless him
and what a great bassline too!
4 people can't comprehend this masterpiece.
I have another audio and video file that at the moment I couldn't Upload is a medley with White Man, well the thing I wanna say is that seems he has the Delay on but for some reason it cant be heard in this tape, but in all live version of this the creative wave in armonic game he solve the song is truley amazing
Freddie's crazy: i love him! I love the disco ball at the end too
Rey de reyes. Admiro TANTO a este hombre!!!
I do not knew about this jaja now I thing more and more that Freddie was a real Genious, I thoug the delay part was an recording error at this file, how ever very creative and by the way check out Madame - Innuendo cover, very creative to solve the "flamenco interlude"
Hey, cool - glad you found this then : )
This is Queens greatest song for me.
I played it to death from Night of the opera.
non esiste niente di piu' bello di questa canzone
What I heard was that the echo-machine wasn't working, so all the repeatingeffects (like on the album and what they did live as well) were ommised in this rendition of this song. Kind of took the soul out of the song.

ooooh love this song - brian may is a genius
I Agree sir!
there s no more bands of this kind, great lyrics, amazing, eternal rocknroll!!!!!!!!.
Bands nowdays think my ears are shitholes.........

My fav Queen song. Long live Freddie!! I miss you!!!

kick ass video
You can't hear the delays, because they've not worked at that moment...and Fred must have to do of his own with all vocals.
I wanted to ask the same thing, Delays existed back then right? Still, Freddie was great on his own ^^
Digno de Yes, de Genesis.... que gloriosa banda progresiva supieron ser los Queen
ya hah my bad it is the on from earl's court the one with the vocal improv
This was horrible, But it rocks like hell. I wish Freddie 'd done it in the 80's when his voice was at his most. gah! so lucky!
Is this the only time they did it live? It sounds like Freddie was looking for a kick and then just said this song and they had to do it. Well done still. Freddie sounds like his voice has been singing too much lately. He sounds a little tortured...
They should have done the delay they use on the album...
This is the only video recording of Prophet's Song isnt it?
i know he had delay on the record... when he was performing did he have it? cause it kind of sucks without it
was this your recording? @arcadata
@stratoman550 Given the technology then, it was close to impossible to replicate, so no.
It's mine too...reminds me somewhat of Zeppelin for some reason.
This live version was quite poor but on the record I think this song is as good as Bohemiian Rhapsody if not better. The guitar riffs are certainly heavier! Neither before nor since has songs like this been written in the name of Rock´n Roll.

Death on two legs xD
:)
Fucking hilarious, I love the contrast between this and the album version, it's just so cheesy. Still it's a pretty decent effort.
no theres one from houston 77
@FREDDIEMANIAC freddie and queen?please just say queen,it's not like they are 2 different artists
No Delay Machine??
This msg is not about Mercury its for sledge999
Why would it be hard to do live?
its sad to see people hating judas preist for the same reason.
what delay
hahaaha the desperate improv is funny.. really could have used their electronics on this one
I have heard better from Freddie. The cd version is still amazing!
nobody said you have to lead the same alternative lifestyle. if the music is good, who cares if he was besexual?
es de Brian MAy
Do you have any idea how fucking lucky you are?????
listen-to-wise/listen-to-wise/listen-to-wise/listen-to-wise/listen-to-wise/listen-to-wise
xD
Why not? I don't need to explain shit to you. I'm AMERICAN.
shame about the quality.
This is Queen's best song by far...unfortunately, this version is pretty weak in comparison to the studio version.
No he didn't
He had a boyfriend, if that's not gay what is?
evidence?
you need more evidence that freddie mercury was gay?
lol
lol, whatever. A metal singer would totally ruin this.
DIAF, mo-fo trash.
Disappointing vocals.
