Back when you knew a chevy was a chevy, a dodge, was a dodge, a ford was a ford, and if you wanted to switch to another manufacturer, it took more than just a month or 2 to make the change. I miss these old restrictor plate engines, big snarling high pitched packs, smooth looking cars, the big front ends made for pushing.
Decent race, but what was with all the skipping? Some commentary was skipped over. Benny Parsons said something that was "left on the cutting room floor" because when the reporter said "Right, Benny" I was, "Huh? What'd he say? It was skipped!" A lot of cuts during final 7laps.
+Matthew Owens I agree with you. I grew up with it as a young NASCAR fan and listening to it today brings back memories as a kid watching with my dad. Miss that music. Wish there was a site we could download it for us to have
Back when the Shootout was the Shootout, when you had to get a pole or past winners here and they didn't extend it to everyone who had certain points standings finishes. Consider that while you had plenty of stars here, noteworthy who wasn't in this race- Kurt Busch and Matt Kenseth.
TheIntimidator93 NASCAR announced all 16 Chase drivers will be eligible to compete in the 2015 Sprint Unlimited at Daytona International Speedway. A minimum of 25 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers are eligible to participate in the Sprint Unlimited at DIS. 2014 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup participants, Coors Light Pole Award winners, former Sprint Unlimited race winners and Daytona 500 pole winners who competed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series full time in 2014.
Among the drivers who didn't make the 2004 Shootout who started on a front row for points races- Robby Gordon (Sonoma), and Brian Vickers (back-to-back races at Phoenix/Rockingham).And of course, Kenseth and Kurt Busch. Crazy to think that the reigning and soon-to-be champ didn't make this race.

Nobody was coming behind into the wreck so it was fair enough to let them race back. Virtually no danger and the field would be slowed down by the time they got back.

He drove the 01 for the back half of the Year bar the Road Course Race where Boris Said got the Pole. So Boris Drove the 01 and let Mike drive the other team car.
My son and I were at that race. It was our first time seeing Nascar live.
>"If it's caution-free, we're commercial-free!"
>Takes 2 commercials
For the first 20 Laps only
My left ear is lonely...

G Jam same i miss the sound
I get your point, but the common body template had already been enforced for an entire season before this race.
2004 Was the year that got away for Dale Jr and us fans. I wish we could go back and rewrite that history

That was an awesome finish.
If this race was in 2016 the caution would have come out before they even entered turn 3 on the last lap
Nobody was coming behind into the wreck so it was fair enough to let them race back. Virtually no danger and the field would be slowed down by the time they got back.
This is what plate racing use to be like before they started to mess with the cars
This would have been Dale Srs last year I think

Joe Nemechek should have been driven 25 for the final race.
Everyone gives Jeff Gordon crap for saying "look at this" a lot in the booth. Meanwhile BP does it a bunch. No criticism.

Really random that Mike Skinner was with MB2 Motorsports for this one exhibition race.
He drove the 01 for the back half of the Year bar the Road Course Race where Boris Said got the Pole. So Boris Drove the 01 and let Mike drive the other team car.
