An anime that combines, Heart of Darkness, Apocalypse Now, and Spec Ops: The Line would be kind of sick. I don't watch anime myself. I only clicked because I fucking love Spec Ops: The Line. but after seeing this, it does seem cool sounding.
Anime is just like live action. It is a medium that can be used to tell any variety of stories. Just as there are tropes, standardized storytelling methods, and common character archetypes in live action that you've gotten used to over the years, there are the same kinds of traditions in anime. I'd suggest watching Cowboy Bebop and Black Lagoon. Both anime are in the rare camp of the English dub being good quality and on par with the recordings in the original language. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is a good speculative fiction show. It's sort of cyberpunk, but the main characters are a squad that investigates high tech crimes, like hijacking the brains out of someone's cybernetic body. Very interesting stuff.

The 0:30-1:10 section actually looked very authentic with very fitting expressions. I have to admit, the Spec-Ops pisstaking was what made Stella so much fun to watch, and this video is a fun distillation of the essence of that black humour - thanks for bringing it to us. It's very unlikely, but if the show gets dubbed it'd be nice to get the cast to do a gag reel where they play this dialogue themselves.
I've just cleaned up my attic and found an airsoft Skorpion in my old airsoft items. I just cleaned it and I might use it this week but this still makes me reconsider.
This was my first anime, I watched it because it looked like cute girls doing cute things with Airsoft guns. I watched a show a day till I got to E04. I then finished the whole show in one sitting. Great fucking show. I love Stella Women's Academy. When I recommend it to people, all they think is its just K-On! with guns. I will add all 7 blu-rays to my collection one day 50$ at a time.
I keep back to this video every few months and it's always both amazingly hilarious and on point; and also a great tool to get other people interested in the anime. Always a good laugh.
I havint seen this anime but it does actually look like it combines heart of darkness with spec ops, the main baddie appears to be not real, its set in a war environment and at the end it looks like the main character sees the world the way the main baddie did.
It's a sports show, about the natural progression from "I wanna do well and win" to "why don't you let me win and hurt 'em suckers", with some historical in-jokes about Japanese militarism
Watched the anime on the description's recommendation. Sort of guessed what I was in for, previously playing Spec Ops. Got excited. Stayed excited. Great anime. then I saw some bm reviews on a site and decided to write my own praising review, people don't agree :/ dammit walker
Actually that's just the developers' favorite interpretation. They said there is no true end, and you can interpret any of the endings however you want. Maybe everything was a hallucination. Maybe only getting rescued was one. Maybe you think killing all the soldiers coming to rescue you is the true ending. It's all up to you, the player.
Ah, yes, Stella C3, I remember the part where they went a little too edgy for my cute-girls-doing-airsoft anime. Couldn't believe how I haven't seen the parallels with Spec Ops: The Line until now, though, lmao. Too bad they didn't commit like Spec Ops, though, it went to shit and cliche again after the edgy part. This is good editing, good job.
Rin is very competitive, but she still values sportsmanship. In the end both Sonora and Rin love the sport but in different ways. Yura only wants to be better than other people.

Lajos Kelemen She wanted to be the hero of their team, only to hurt her friends. She became delusional and crazy until she realized that she had hurt her friends and there is no way she could undo the things she did.
I never got Rin. She was all like "all that matter is winning". Then, when Yura comes and starts to owning everyone due to her lone-wolf tactics, instead of working with that trait of hers, as a competent leader would do, no. Rin pulls her back and tells her to be the freaking medic. Wtf?!
But where's the important line before the final? "What now sir? The men are asking what are we gonna do now?" "Tell them we completed our mission." "And what mission would that be sir?" "Just give me a god-damned...... Radio?"
Both appear to be standard pieces of work in their respective genres but then later, as the story and main character try to go through the common story beats and tropes of their respective genre, things go very wrong
