It's easy to think that, but I think it's closer to the truth to say that he's just really difficult to work with. The only reason he went solo is because Jack couldn't stand working with him anymore, and Nate had a bunch of songs that he still wanted to release. So he went solo in order to release those songs. The exact same thing happened with The Format. If Nate really wanted to sell out, he would still be making music today, but instead he has become somewhat of a recluse. I think he's just beat up and tired after everything... He got that "fun." tattoo for a reason, he thought that band was going to last a long time.
