In my case, it seems I have to delete my original Google account if I expect to be able to verify its email. Other than that, Google seems to have made steps to prevent peoples´confirmation codes from being able to reach their phones or their email services, so scammers can not use them. I think they have to delete their accounts and then create new ones from scratch to confirm them. Back in the day Microsoft wanted people to use pins and security keys so they could confirm their accounts but that turned out to be unwanted, so they decided to stick to the password.

@@justgosleeping unless you already have a recovery email setup, there is no way of getting the verification code. I had two accounts and both had my secondary email setup which I totally forgot about. I was able to get back into both of my accounts.
