Ian Gillan has the best Blackmore take; "Look, He is a guitar legend and pioneer, I get and respect all of that, however, Ritchie is an intellectual DWARF..!"
I was glad to see Doogie in Rainbow. Really good singer. Unfortunately, Ritchie is like that but, as Doogie said, Ritchie has helped excellent vocalists become known and appreciated. All the best to Doogie.
Funny, Hills Angels said exactly the same about Benny, if you can do the job you'll also get opportunities beyond, Richie might have the odd character issue but he sounds like a good boss who does right by his workers if they put in the effort as Doogie evidently did.
When the Doog speaks on Ritchie, he stares off blankly into space. Remembering times that will always be cherished. The impact Blackmore had and still has on soo many people can never be overestimated. When Gene Simmons tells people Blackmore needs to be given more credit than he gets, you know his brand, so to speak, is grossly undervalued. Something about not participating in the R&R Hall of Fame bullshit, always amazes me. Only Ritchie can get himself into those types of situations. Who else? For me, he represents something nobody else has been able to withstand. What would appearing in front of all them people do for him? Nothing.
Blackmore always struck me as someone who loses interest in a musical project/lineup once its peaked. He strives towards a vision and moves to the next... you’re only carried by a tornado for so long until you get flung out
The only vocalist Ritchie's ever treated with respect is Candice. Ian, Ronnie, Joe, Doogie and the others just never took that extra step of marrying him.
Nice and honest take. I have always commented, he may not be the nicest guy, but he DID launch so many careers. He has always been a straight shooter, never minced his words.
I was lucky enough to see them in concert in Milan back in October 1995... I have wonderful memories of that evening... The band played divinely led by our Doogie...
Should have taken hair advise from Richie. Would have got a better wig. I saw them at the Hammersmith Odeon and Dougie looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights of Richie Blackmore. Having said that I still love the album.
Doogie says he could of chose anyone but he chose me ! Dio had said Ritchie asked him first to be the singer for the album ,that would become Stanger in Us All . But Dio turned it down as he thought the music Ritchie wanted to make was too much like what they did in 1976 for Rainbow Rising . And wanted to create something new . So Ritchie ended up finding Doogie instead .
It’s not about , how good you are with technics etc. There are thousands of great shredders. It’s about collaborating with your fellow band mates, and finding a cool riff and rhythm, then a hook.Getting lyrics to it and a bass line. Then if that all works, you put in solos etc. Sometimes you work off a song lyrics and put music to it.
a totally misleading caption on the video. I thought this was going to be a juicy anti-Blackmore video detailing what a asshole he was. Instead it was a massive compliment to him.
Sorry but the title is in fact click bait. There is no "brutal take" on Blackmore. Instead there are very respectful and well presented opinions from a man that has admiration for the guitarist and is thankful for the help in his career. I do enjoy a lot of these clpped interviews but it does no service to the work you are doing to go and put a header in suggesting outrage when there isn't any. Let your skills as an interviewer (you are a good listener) be the reason for folks to watch you rather than trying to con folks (and also headers like this could make an artist look nasty or bitter when they aren't).
I saw Rainbow at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia in 1978, 3,000 seat arena, with the best lineup he ever had, Dio, Daisley, Powell & Stone , the first hour was spectacular, then out of nowhere for some unknown reason, Blackmore flipped out & went bezerk, smashed his guitar & walked off & didn’t come back. Dio came out & said on behalf of the band he was sorry but Ritchie is done playing for the night. It wasn’t long after that that Dio quit & started his own band. He is still one of my top 5 guitarist’s but that night was a huge disappointment because the band was unbelievable!
@@jonblackers4611 true story, Cheap Trick opened up & Blackmore was pissed as many people came to see them & kept holding up Cheap Trick signs, he flipped out & walked off, say what you want, you weren’t there
Seemingly, it seems that everyone that’s worked with RB has to twist themselves into pretzels to avoid speaking negatively about him. It’s never a natural sounding interview.
More like "respectful take on Blackmore", great interview.
Say what you will about his personality, Blackmore is still my favorite guitarist of all time.
Mine too!!!

@@seanmurphy26 lmao 🤣 Did he really say that!??
Mount Rushmore guitarist Ritchie Blackmore
Same here

An odd analogy but certainly accurate, look at Jane Leeves.
Love that album Stranger in us all and Black Masquerade is a masterpiece🤟⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Indeed 👌 Wolf To The Moon and Hall Of The Mountain King are amazing as well. Especially the live versions of Hall Of The Mountain King!

Only that Sham Hall can get themselves into taking in shitty non rock and roll artists and forget to invite Nick Simper.

ONE OF THE GREATEST ROCK ALBUMS IN HISTORY. EVEN THE LITTLE CANDICE ON A COUPLE SONGS BACK THEN WAS MAGICAL.
Great singer. one of my fave Hard Rock singers of all time!
Not heard an interview with Billy Connelly for years 😆🤷♂️
Stranger in us all!!! What a badass album!!!🎩🎸💯%🤘🤘

Great album with Doogie. The last of Ritchies peak!
Horrible Album
lol not reallyt@@highwaystar3780
Great album of course but Blackmore has done many albums with Blackmore's Night that are great!
Doogie seems like a cool and respectful dude
Met Doogie near Bergen PAC having dinner before the Shenker show….. saw Richie walk off the stage after two songs….
The only vocalist Ritchie's ever treated with respect is Candice.
Ian, Ronnie, Joe, Doogie and the others just never took that extra step of marrying him.
Lol.
Rainbow....A.K.A. Blackmore's Employment Agency

Great content and great singer. ✌️🤘🏴🇦🇺😊

Crikey, I wasn’t even aware that it was their last gig when I saw them in Esbjerg in ‘97.
Well, you live and learn.
Class guy. Actually he’s one of eight singers to sing for him.
Should have taken hair advise from Richie. Would have got a better wig.

I couldn't get past the wig......
I've seen a lot of criticism of Ritchie's personality but I've never seen one single word criticizing his musicianship. Don't think I ever will.
Nobody can touch RB. NOBODY

White is an expensive wardrobe .
Doogie, The average voacalist with a huge resume.
'brutal take' lol......cant resist a bit of click bait eh?
and why only 200 thumb ups out of 7500 views
Blackmore squandered a lot of his greatness by throwing temper tantrums and frankly just making a lot of noise on stage.
