My point was that talent is different - fundamentally different. I could try really hard and approximate what she does and it might eventually sound the same, but it really is not. There is something much deeper.
Seems well balanced to me, just likes to work out hard and sets high standards for himself. I mean who amongst us hasn't cried when pinned to the ground. It's a bit uncomfortable amiright? :)
This video is filmed at my local high school & hometown. Great job capturing the essence & culture of high school football in Central Virginia. Kudos! I’m hooked. Also, I coach & officiate football so I love the story!
I could train a high schooler to look like that for their senior year as long as they hit puberty early enough (grew to their adult height). Pretty much doing the training program that it looked like that guy was doing. Diet, exertion and consistency (obsession helps) and a year and a half. The face fills in with the muscle weight to look older. Wouldn't even need steroids, but that guys personality to me seems to be the kind who would run to them without blinking.
I love that when the black kid ask the machine “how are the kids there” as in the school kids the machine just talk about the football team instead He’s so obsessed with football than his well-being
Absolutely brilliant, I loved the ending literally leaving you to ascertain what's caused this guy to isolate and focus on his self. Damn this left me asking questions, love things like this type of filming. 👍🏾🇯🇲🇬🇧✊🏾
That's actually a little terrifying. The football star clearly has abuse issues (& self-esteem ones too) Hence his need to "be strong", "be a machine" etc. I shudder to think what happened in his past to make him that way; or who did this to him.
Thanks for this moving film. I honestly wept when Machine broke down, I understand him completely. He was no doubt, not just bullied but, sexually abused (probably by an athletic older brother) as a youngster. The coach may even have heard rumors to that effect. This would also explain his attempting to "save" the younger boy from his bullying big brother on the street. After his own assault, Machine decided the only way to deal with it was to become bigger, stronger, and faster than the bullies. It became too much to handle when his new friend might be bigger, stronger, faster. He viewed him as a genuine threat. Again, thank you for this amazing film.
I've always seen stories about the obsessed artist, musician, or mathematician. Never seen one about the obsessed athlete. Omeleto hits every beat perfectly.
This is by far my favourite short you guys have featured. Everything in it is well done. The characters, the plot, the cinematography. Man this is awesome.
Great acting from the two young men. You had me emotionally immersed in the story from the beginning. Congratulations to all who participated in the fine production of this short film.
A hard truth people need to accept is that sometimes all that hard work you put doesn’t always pay off. There will always be that one trait, one quality, or charisma, or whatever it is that one person has that you don’t have.
Excellent, intense film. There's so much more there than meets the eye. It just leaves you with so many questions. It seems like this film needs to be much longer.
He isn't a chad. This is pretty much the basic, crucial character point of the entire movie, that he is quite the contrary. I'm trying to figure out if this is a reflection of the upvoters' relative standards, that even he is an "ultra-chad" by comparison, or whether they simply did not see the film.
incredible acting performance by Chris Fornataro...such a scary and incredibly awkward performance.... would love to see this as a Feature film...I kinda see a subtle homoerotic need to impress the new kid and the need for some kind of emotional attachment
Relate-able The hidden theme in this, can't explain this....but the machine has some issues to resolve within himself. He doesn't want to be dominated by anyone. Any who, this is a start of best a frenemy relationship. Liked it
I don't think it would be a frenemy relationship at all. I see that kid almost becoming like a brother to him. Not rivals. He will supply the machine with what he has been lacking his whole life. Love and friendship.
nah i think it was because he was sexually abused or just abused cause when he got on top of him he had a panic attack and hides it when he’s off he uses his masculinity to hide what he went through
Self acceptance. Many of us want to be the best. It's what society tells us. I was mediocre all my life - then I got into the gym and became greedy. Maybe I was always obsessed but when people noticed me, I knew had found something that was missing from within me. I never made it. I never had someone say "I love you" and believed it exapt for my blood related family. I hate myself passionately. I am never enough. I have it all. Far more money than I need, the body I wanted, the education, the girls ans women - I am not average anymore. Doesn't matter. I have gone too far to stop now - I know it won't make me happy. And so while I can't heal myself but I hope someone else one day will.
This was so good. Love the soundtrack. It’s amazing how the director establishes obsession and compulsion coupled with dysfunctional narcissistic behaviors in just several minutes. Completely engrossing.
Usually, I'm okay with the abrupt endings that leave much to the imagination because you're left putting the pieces together in a creative way. But this time, I really wanted to see this story conclude. Felt like it needed to, both for the characters and the audience. But great job on the film, I was truly drawn in! Also, I felt like his words while working out and when he got mad at the new guy were echoes of whoever abused him, which is something often seen as a way of trying to gain control - abused becoming abusers. At the end when he discovered that the new guy wasn't going to abuse him, he finally opened himself up to training with someone else!! Great acting!!
This is why I love short stories man, it's just enough information and plot to keep you hooked into the story, and the best part is that the story could go in any direction after what we have seen. Does Will fall from Grace after the new kid in town joins the team and takes his spot? Does he go into a downward spiral that Ultimately destroyed him? Does he finally except that perfection isn't just a physical attribute and he must be at peace with himself before he is truly perfect? Does he overcome his insecurities and decide to let this new kid push him physically and emotionally? Does the kid teach will that he doesn't have to "literally" a Machine. Do we learn about his past and why he's developed his persona as the "Machine"? Was it abuse? Was it bullying? Was it just obsession? All answers are possible but we will never know. It's almost poetic
No, when he was young. Hes strong now and ppl cant take advantage of him. Hes literally the most dangerous person he knows until he meets the guy who challenges everything
Think about self-loathing , abuse, low-self esteem , and perfectionism mixed in one person , along with many aspects of extremely high self-expectations .
This needs to be a movie. .. and the creators of these films should make a movie it would be a hit because they are very detailed films from being so short and say so much with so little words.

I low key strive for that dudes work ethic in the gym, it’s obviously unhealthy and not realistic but honestly it’s pretty bad ass, I love that he was in that weight room before everyone else, and as everyone else was coming in he was leaving.
I feel this. I started wrestling at a freshman and felt I had to work 4x as hard as my teammates in Texas to catch up to the real wrestlers up north. I would have already ran and lifted before 6am practice. And still be the first to roll out Mats. It’s pushed me away from my teammates and ended up messing up my body. I’m about to have my second surgery to fix my knee. I’m getting ready to go wrestle juco in Minnesota next year after I recover. I’m missing my senior season because I didn’t know how to rest. I went from not even going to state my jr year. To placing 6th place at “freak show” 5 months later. Currently top 5 in the state. But these are rankings from last year. If I didn’t get hurt, I’d be in running for the state champ.-know your limits, humble your self. And know how to rest. Let’s see if I can still make the big ten
Awesome film. I'd say that definitely needs to be a feature film. Good inspirational football films are the best with a good back story to follow. Wish these guys the best at what they do. Good luck with everything.
I could understand him, at least how competitive he is I thrive to be the most athletic and best person I could be even if that means going to extremes. I’m super competitive and sometimes get carried away with it.
If an athlete puts that much pressure on themselves they a bound to fail... most likely getting pressure at home also. Want to excel? Do it because you love it... don’t isolate yourself. If you are a great athlete share yourself with others.

My point was that talent is different - fundamentally different. I could try really hard and approximate what she does and it might eventually sound the same, but it really is not. There is something much deeper.
Will is going through abuse. He covers it with masculinity and hides behind his mask, The Machine.
He might have been bullied in the past and beaten up. So now he covers it with training hard and playing a macho sport.

When the anime villain has a life of dedicated training to become the strongest and the protagonist is better on accident.

@@lobo5532 umm you have seen it right?
This guy definitely doesn’t look like a high schooler lmao
I could train a high schooler to look like that for their senior year as long as they hit puberty early enough (grew to their adult height). Pretty much doing the training program that it looked like that guy was doing. Diet, exertion and consistency (obsession helps) and a year and a half. The face fills in with the muscle weight to look older.
Wouldn't even need steroids, but that guys personality to me seems to be the kind who would run to them without blinking.
Yeah he does. Some kids just look older than they are. People thought I was 25 when I was 16.
Just think about "The Rock", they thought he was a Cop undercover ..lmao
He is a senior after all
Yeah a lil undersized
Kid is running from his past. He can run as fast and hard as he wants. Until he turns around and faces it like a linebacker. It won't end. Truth.
Wow a poet
He slow too. I'm faster

Well said
I love that when the black kid ask the machine “how are the kids there” as in the school kids the machine just talk about the football team instead
He’s so obsessed with football than his well-being
Implying they both were bullied.
@@jacobshirley3457 whoa i didn't catch that about the black kid, nice observation
I should specify it that we only learned the white kid was bullied at the end, not when he was asked the question.
Sadly ik people like that at my school. Football is literally their life
I had a stroke trying to read this
Absolutely brilliant, I loved the ending literally leaving you to ascertain what's caused this guy to isolate and focus on his self.

I’d watch an entire series about this short 1. for on how their relationship would play out and 2. Seeing this dude confront his issues
Completely blew Will's mind that someone could run just for the fun of it.
This was an Amazing short film.

Yo, Omeleto! Give us more of The Machine I'm sure I'd like it to see him develop a friendship with this dude.
Hell yeah
Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
I think you'd need like 7 seasons before this guy would develop something resembling a friendship.
yes, give us more. lets see how this white guy falls in love with this black guy. white guy trying to be straight when he knows he is gay.
Ask the creators, omeleto just uploads these films.
Need a part 2 this was great
I've always seen stories about the obsessed artist, musician, or mathematician. Never seen one about the obsessed athlete. Omeleto hits every beat perfectly.
I mean , there are cases of athletes wanting to be " the machine " 😅
As long as mental health is included, there is always something behind
This is by far my favourite short you guys have featured. Everything in it is well done. The characters, the plot, the cinematography. Man this is awesome.
Agree!!!
Football star: “NOT TODAY NOT GOING TO GET ME TODAY!”
Also Football star: *throws up*
That’s how hard he pushed his self
Great acting from the two young men. You had me emotionally immersed in the story from the beginning. Congratulations to all who participated in the fine production of this short film.
These are some talented actors too, dang.
This guy is pushing himself to be perfect physically. I just hope he does not fall off his perfection...
i hope he will stop falling soon and find ground. this Dude were abused and bullied for sure. this Film is deep
When ultra-chad meathead figured out that guy ran just for fun: •o•
I run just for fun as well. Seriously.

@@1billie1 Pick one pronoun, and stick with it.
The football player never feels good enough no matter how strong he gets or how fast he runs
Saw the way he cried when he was held down and I was like "oh..."
Relate-able
The hidden theme in this, can't explain this....but the machine has some issues to resolve within himself.
Love and friendship.
nah i think it was because he was sexually abused or just abused cause when he got on top of him he had a panic attack and hides it when he’s off he uses his masculinity to hide what he went through
@@onjah6.918 agreed, hence the will to dominate others. He has to let go of his issues within himself. That's where the other dude can help him.
So he's litteraly like a machine, "let's go earlier tomorrow." They've been running all day.
I get a young John Travolta in terms of intensity coming off that young actor. He really has a great intensity to him.
yeah and without the Juan Revolta creepy factor.
Thank you. I wasn't the only one.
Moral of the story you need someone to push you but in order to do that you must find someone better then you.
This was so good. Love the soundtrack. It’s amazing how the director establishes obsession and compulsion coupled with dysfunctional narcissistic behaviors in just several minutes. Completely engrossing.

Poor bb... he’s obviously very traumatized and really needs help. I need more of this, I wanna see how his story progresses.
It's almost poetic
looks like he gets physically abused at home
Wow, that's what I was thinking in the locker room scene right when he was puking up his food and then the scene with the coach.
@loegaray272 Behave.
No, when he was young. Hes strong now and ppl cant take advantage of him. Hes literally the most dangerous person he knows until he meets the guy who challenges everything

@@Ghost_Recon_Actual that happens sometimes when you lift too much
The kinda ‘friend’ you can live without. He doesn’t look like he has any intention of self reflection. Narcissistic?
Think about self-loathing , abuse, low-self esteem , and perfectionism mixed in one person , along with many aspects of extremely high self-expectations .
In the last race Joe let him win because something in him needed it, but then he found out, he needs so much more than that.
