"she is already your wife!!" you guys have done the traditional marriage and God recognises that. we have church white weddings now because of colonization. I am not against white weddings because I want to have one myself and it is a beautiful event for extra celebrations. But I think we need to get over the notion of we are not married until we get married in a church and joined by the pastor. just thought to share my thoughts on that. Traditional weddings were created when Africans were worshiping false gods. Once someone becomes a born again Christian a traditional marriage won't have the same effect as a church wedding. So many believe church wedding seals the start of the marriage.

What Africans refer to as traditional marriage is the way our forefathers celebrated marriage before colonisation. White wedding is basically duplication in every sense of it. Vows are exchanged in both ceremonies. A priest presides over both ceremonies too. That's the core/summary of marriages in Africa. The traditional African marriage celebration is much deeper than white wedding because it is not a day's event. You will have several months of formalities between both families. Hope this helps clarify matters. If in doubt speak with an African who knows the process.

First I would like to say, I love that Chris is the one telling the story! It’s so different and refreshing for a man to tell the love story.
