  • Quick direct to stereo jam put together in my studio using the Roland SH-4d, Yamaha Reface DX, Retrokits RK-008 sequencer, and Sequential Pro 3.
The RK008 has breathed new life into my studio process. It's like having my old MMT-8 back in miniature form. It's a great quick-and-dirty MIDI looper, but can be used to put together more considered tracks, too. I'm loving it!

Loved this! An love that you found a new process that makes you want to create in the synth realm more.

I never realized how much I missed my MMT-8 until I got this thing in my studio!

@mike.thomas - Yeah my MMT-8 died years ago, just wish the RK-008 had more memory, I understand the 64kb backwards compatability but it could have had 2 modes, 1 with a lot more memory, first time I tried recording CC's with it it ran out of memory so quickly.
Edit: oh I don't miss backing up on cassette tape though 🙂

@@pauldablue I sold my MMT-8 a long time ago, and yes I don’t miss tape backups either! I do think it’s odd that Retrokits decided to stick to limits like 64k. I don’t think anyone asked for that level of fidelity to the MMT-8 😆. Still, it’s a great device, and so simple to use that I look forward to it (as opposed to my Pyramid, which if I turn around for 10 minutes, I have to re-learn).

@@pauldablue I subbed to your channel, too. I need to dig in a bit, but I like what I’ve heard so far :-). I have probably 200 music videos here, ranging from stuff I’m kind of proud of, to just “playtime”.

@mike.thomas - I considered the Squarp Pyramid as well, a bit more memory per song, but from all the videos I watched it just didn't seem intuative at all, more functionality I suppose euclidean etc but not stuff I needed.

Nice. What are you using to generate the visuals?

Thank you :-). I used rotorvideos.com. It’s gotten pretty expensive, but when you just want some quick visuals it can sometimes do a good job. I had some free credits which made it a little more affordable.
