I thought the same. These information about how to behave in the presence of whales are so important. I've done quite a few whaleswims around Moorea, and there are always people chasing the whale, Just beeing selfish to get a good shot.
Nadia is amazing and her advice is excellent. Vava'u Northern Tonga was fabulous for our week swimming with awesome humpbacks with another resort in September 2023. Highly recommended bucket list experience.
Nadia also now offers 4 per boat tours. Given that you are on the water for 7 hours... getting in the water is the peak experience - especially the mother and calf encounters. The tenderness is so heart warming.. An awesome experience.
I am really pleased it is in the wild I did the same in captivity swimming with dolphins NEVER again it was so bad I found the feelings so bad and pick up their feelings and thoughts..!!! I've never howled but on the way back from the captivity of the dolphins I dud nothing but cry
In our September 2023 week we hit the jack pot. No rain except light falls one evening. Day One. Three Heat Runs with two swimmable. That afternoon we were enchanted by the tenderness of a mother and yong calf logging in the shallows of a sheltered bay. Next day we had a Singer hanging vertically. You could feel the vibration as well as hear it. The tenderness between mother and calf is amazing. When mother and calf dive down the calf is surfacing much more regularly. 3 to 7 minutes with mum every 20 to 30 minutes. Breaches, tail and pec slaps. Spell binding.
