    This looks great, Tom! Our season here is toast-repeated days of drizzle & rain, along with temperatures in the upper 30's ended it. So, it's up to you to send us those vicarious ski thrills! 😁

    I wish I had those hills around my place :-) Nice technique, keep on rolling!

      This area is amazing for off trail cross country skiing. The flats you are seeing in this video are covered in sagebrush, but we normally get enough snow that all the brush is covered by late winter. The nearest snowtel site, which is about a mile away, currently shows a depth of 44 in (112 cm) Thanks for tuning in and posting.

    I’ve never seen tele turns from this point of view, and honestly its very helpful to watch! My goal this season was to develop downhill techniques (including telemarks), but we got so little snow. Great video!

      I appreciate your post and be sure to tune in tomorrow 2/27 for my Tuesday Short, as there are additional camera angles of a few telemark turns, same gear on a different day.

    Thanks for posting Tom. I think you mentioned the manufacturer voids the warranty of the ski if you Mount Tele bindings?

    • @tomm9850
      @tomm9850  6 месяцев назад

      The objective is one of Voile's hyper class of skis, and AT bindings are recommended. All other bindings and mounts will not be covered under their warranty. I've been skiing this ski since 2019, remounted once from 75 mm to Xplore. Others who do the same do so at their own risk. I've mostly skied this ski with soft boots in moderate terrain and I have confidence in my mount for this use case.

      @@tomm9850 It seems like a really nice ski for XCD since it has scales for climbing and seems to be on the light side. I think you also said you have Xplore bindings, which also seem very light weight. It seems like a really nice setup for more mellow XCD downhills, but not so good for kick and glide as you said. The range of setups for different terrain and applications is something I find really interesting about XCD.

    I'm curious about your terrain. How did it become so manicured? You have these lovely batches of trees dotted amongst open fields. Is this farm land with crops during the Summer?

    • @tomm9850
      @tomm9850  6 месяцев назад

      The area I'm skiing in this video is around 7000 feet in elevation, with the nearby hills topping out at 8200 feet (2134 m - 2500 m). It is all in the Bridger National Forest and the open areas are natural, not the result of logging or agriculture. The forested areas are interspersed with open sagebrush areas depending on the soil type and aspect. North facing slopes are heavily treed and South facing slopes are generally void of large trees. We typically get lots of snow in the winter, enough to cover the sagebrush and the end result is some amazing terrain that looks like it was designed for XCD skiing. The last recorded snotel depth was 44 inches, with a snow water equivalent of 11.5 inches (112 cm, 29.2 cm)

      Thank you for that explanation. It's nearly perfect! Perhaps some day I will vacation there and give it a try! @@tomm9850

    Great video Tom, beautiful scenery and skiing! Is this a scale based ski? I noticed you took no time to transition between uphill and downhill, so you weren't using skins?

    • @tomm9850
      @tomm9850  6 месяцев назад

      I'm skiing the Voile Objective BC ski (2019 version) and it has a scaled traction pattern. I usually put on a set of skins if I have a huge climb but in this case, I just used a shallower angle of attack and climbed the hill using the traction pattern. Thanks for tuning in and for posting.

      @@tomm9850 Oh sweet, so that's why you made all the switchbacks on the ascent up that hill. Neat.
      Thank you for the video.
