This was during the uniparty days and it quickly stopped once Trump got in power. All the US ever does is instigate color revolutions by backing the oposition in an effort to destabilize regions. I'm sure slaves sold on the streets in Libya was thankful for US "help" or the Syrians buried under the rubble of their own houses. Attempted it in Georgia, the Caucasus, the student revolution in China, list goes on.

@Palmyra141 Arrests are not evidence the majority want rid of him. Nor is any Western source. In truth unless you actually speak to representative sample of Syrians for yourself in absolute confidence you can't judge the state of public opinion in Syria. It is clear however that Assad retains significant support in Syria, otherwise he would not have won the civil war (Russian assistance helped in the same way Western assistance helped the rebels, but you cannot win a war without some basic degree of support). Therefore for the West to constantly try to interfere in places like Iran and Syria in order to bring down the government in those places is only going to lead to death and destruction, not progress.

Syria needs open borders and pride parades. Only then will it be civilized.

It does have open borders, how else do you think there are Syrian migrants coming to Europe. Look at the video again, I see a lot of rainbow flags and chanting.

    Thakns for reporting,
Clear statements supporting these protests and our rights and advocating cases of enforced disappearances, arrests and torture would be of great importance.
Local reporting documents everything, but international media can broadcast the images clearly and realistically.
We need pressure on the regime to enforce sanctions, isolate it economically and sanction its supporters outside Syria.
The regime now receives support from Russia and Iran and could respond violently. Therefore, we need real international unity and pressure to enforce our demands. Concrete political and economic measures are needed against this regime!

Assad and his followers should not go unpunished. We demand the release of all political prisoners and that the fates of the many disappeared people be clarified. Our goal is an orderly political transition without chaos and destruction. Our top priority is the implementation of Resolution 2254, which includes a peaceful transfer of power
