- We're happy to see that many of you have been enjoying our videos! Today I thought I would share a video from a hike I took two years ago with my husband and daughter. It was a cool day, and early spring wildflowers were just beginning to poke their way into the world. Birds were singing, a breeze was blowing, and hikers were laughing and chatting up and down the trail. We were delighted to see wildflowers in bloom or just ready to burst, including star chickweed, yellow trillium, hepatica, trailing arbutus, rue-anemone, bloodroot, toothwort, pennywort, stonecrop and violets of purple and yellow varieties. Listen to the quiet of the forest and the power of the waterfall in this short video. Enjoy this peaceful escape, a virtual hike to see spring wildflowers and a waterfall.
For information about waterfalls or wildflowers in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, get a copy of Waterfalls of the Smokies or Wildflowers of the Smokies, both available in park bookstores and at smokiesinformation.org. [Our stores and online ordering are temporarily closed to slow the spread of COVID-19. We look forward to offering our products when we reopen. In the meantime, we hope you continue to enjoy the park from home through our virtual magazine, Smokies LIVE, www.smokiesinformation.org/news/. Thank you for supporting the park!]
I love the Great Smoky Mountains and the beautiful waterfalls
Ahhhh, love the attention given to the small details at the beginning, an added bonus listening to the falls. Thanks for the video.
Excellent just what I needed today thank you and all the best to all of you.....Aho.....
A short but beautiful hike . I went on a somewhat rainy morning and the falls were impressive . There is another fall 1/4-1/3mile past it
Which waterfall is this?
Spruce Flats Falls
Loved this hike but unfortunately during our visit someone had brought their kids there and was letting them swim naked. Took the beauty away so be warned. People tend to ruin things :|
Is the park open?
No it is not open, but we are sharing videos and footage from our archives on RUclips so that people can enjoy the park virtually.
EgoBusta yes, practically all areas are closed through 4/30 at least acc to the park website.
