Brewing a beer using homegrown hops is so cool. Thanks for detailing some of the differences between fresh hops and pellets in the final product. Cheers!

It's definitely a cool experience using hops you've grown yourself. I did it for a few years, but then for some reason stopped. Need to look at getting another rhizome perhaps. Cheers mate 🍻

@@tubedinoz what variety did you grow?

Danscade. A cross between an unknown wild hop variety and cascade. Here's a quick brew day video if you're interested. Cheers ruclips.net/video/HNZxkG7L6Gg/видео.htmlsi=DnhY4_q5ej5Mr4Lu

Very nice. I don’t think I’ve had a beer with fresh hops before. Cheers 🍻

Definitely worth a try. You'll only see them on the shelves for a small time around March/April after the annual hop harvest. Might still be a few lurking around. Cheers 🍻

From memory it was around 350 grams of fresh hops in the whirlpool, I think it would benefit from a little more, but that's all I had. Maybe next year.

That's a decent amount of fresh hops for the whirlpool. It would have taken up quite a bit of space in your kettle. I can only imagine you'll get even more next year. I really enjoyed the beer as it is, but can see how you'd like to add more. It's been a while since I brewed my own fresh hop beer, but just looking back, I was using 500gm in a half batch. These were fresh hops I was able to get from my local homebrew shop. Unfortunately they aren't able to get them anymore at harvest time. It was a real pleasure to drink your beer Roy. Cheers 🍻

Great review. I really enjoyed his harvest ale too. Great idea to put them in the whirl pool i think he got the most of what he had by doing that.
    Cheers Dinoz 😎👍
