How are they supposed to decide which is better if they only watch a 30 second clip of each movie? They didn’t even get to see Robin Williams in the Jumanji clip?
To be fair jumanji was a sequel. Hense the fact that they found the house of Allan Parrish, and the game started as a game board even in the sequel but when the kid would only play videogames it turned itself into one as a thirst trap
Judy Garland's version of A Star is Born is also a remake. The original came out in 1937. And it starred Janet Gaynor. So they just chose between two remakes.
They chose Judy’s version because the two remakes (Streisand and Gaga) were based off her version. Judy’s version was rewritten specifically for her and is very different from the original 1937 film. The two remakes after were blatant copies of Judy’s version.
@@antoniomarin9061 that is false, technically and realistically it's not a remake. Like LoneWolf said, it even has references to the original. For those who did not know, "A Star is Born" first came out in 1937. The 1954 version was a remake with Judy Garland. Then, in 1974, they released another remake, this time with Barbra Streisand. The final remake was in 2018 with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. So, the 1954 version is not an original movie. It is a remake.

Junanji: Welcome to the Jungle is not a remake. You can't have reference to the original movie being apart of that world unless its a sequal or a movie in that universe. Jumanjia 2017 technically isn't a remake, it's a belated sequel. There was a 2nd animated version of The Grinch you could've compared it to instead of the live action.
The Illumination version of The Grinch is far different. I think the title character's backstory in that one is why they decided to include the Jim Carrey version. As for Jumanji, some people are actually labeling WTTJ as a remake despite the Alan Parrish reference.
What a freaking random clip to use for the 1984 Dune. “Here, have two minor characters sitting in chairs and talking to a Muppet in a tank!” I mean, what?? You had a whole-ass David Lynch movie to pick a scene from, and you chose *that* one??? (Was it even part of the theatrical release?) Stillsuits, sandworms, visions, duels? Sting in a Speedo? That one poor dude who had to milk a cat? Nope, gimme three randos sitting perfectly still! WTF
Odd that they did not try to match up scene in the movies when it was possible. My Charlie's Anges is the original Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson and Farrah Fawcett and always iconic John Forsythe as Charlie but he was also voicing Charlie in the 2000 and 2003 movie
Freaky Friday has actually been made four times now. There's the 70s version, a Disney Channel version from the 90s, the 2003 version, and then Another Disney Channel version from 2018.
I remember the 90's Disney Channel version, mainly because at the time I had a crush on Gaby Hoffmann. She's no Jodie Foster, but I remember thinking at the time she did a decent enough of a job.

I've seen both Parent Trap movies snd while both are very good, the original is still better. You have to watch the original, from beginning to end. Not just short clips.
I'm sure you know this bit of trivia already, 2018 of A Star Is Born is the 4th remake. First: 1930's Second: 1950's (shown here) Third: 1970's Fourth: 2018 (shown here) 💕
The real original Charlies Angles is the 70's tv show version & I remember that & that's better then those two movie versions of it.
Lets go Izzy! All the love for the originals, but can appreciate a remake when its done well.
Just to let you know there were four Freaky Friday films done
- 1976 theatrical film of Freaky Friday with Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris
- a 1995 TV version done for the wonderful world of Disney (on ABC) with Gabby Hoffman and Shelley Long
- 2003 theatrical film with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan
- Disney Channel produced another television film, adapting the musical of the same name, which premiered in August 2018; Heidi Blickenstaff reprises her role as the mother, while Cozi Zuehlsdorff portrays her daughter. The protagonists' names were changed to Katherine and Ellie Blake, respectively
All of these done by the Walt Disney Company
The original Parent Trap is icon
Junanji: Welcome to the Jungle is not a remake. You can't have reference to the original movie being apart of that world unless its a sequal or a movie in that universe. For example The Karate Kid remake with Jackie Chan is actually a Remake. The Karate Kid Miyagi-verse movies and Cobra Kia are cannon to each other but are movies and series in the Jackie Chan Reboot Version Universe because they are reference to in The Karate Kid 2010 is a movie. The stange thing is how the upcoming Karate Kid movie is going to have Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han in it and would have to reckon the mentioning of the original movies out of the 2010 movie.
For A star is born those are actually 2 remakes the original came out in 1937
There was a version of Star is Born in the '30s before the Garland version and another in the 70s with Streisand (between the Garland version and the Gaga version)
1995 Jumanji all day, but technically the new Jumanji films are not remakes... R.I.P Robin Williams
Jumanjia 2017 technically isn't a remake, it's a belated sequel. There was a 2nd animated version of The Grinch you could've compared it to instead of the live action.
Agree!!
Agree ^
Zathura is a remake in my opinion.
@@DexterMoregan yeah claim that one is a sequal too but tbh that one screams more remake then the 2017 one does
The Illumination version of The Grinch is far different.
The 2017 Jumanji was a sequel, not a remake.
Freaky Friday has actually been made four times now. There's the 70s version, a Disney Channel version from the 90s, the 2003 version, and then Another Disney Channel version from 2018.
Finally! Someone else who remembers the 90's Disney channel version.
I remember the 90's Disney Channel version, mainly because at the time I had a crush on Gaby Hoffmann. She's no Jodie Foster, but I remember thinking at the time she did a decent enough of a job.
I disagree with Izzy. I feel like Jamie Lee Curtis carried "Freaky Friday." Lindsay was cool, but Jamie was top-tier.
BOTH actresses honestly carried the remake.
I meant it as she carried this era (early 2000s) jamie lee curtis and lindsay are always amazing. 🥰♥️
@@itsizziman I can agree with that. 🫡
Wait, Charlie's Angels 2000 is listed as the original? You know the original was a TV show from the 70s, right?
i object, jumanji: welcome to the jungle IS NOT a remake, it is a sequel, the game evolved from a board game to a video game, and alan parish (robins character) is mentioned in this movie
I was about to comment this same thing. I don't understand why they thought remake when the story is completely different in Welcome to the Jungle.
@@gothelismyfave glad I wasn’t the only one
So dumb it was included. Clearly they've never really paid attention to the film.
You should do a video about Flop Movies from the 90s that became Culture Icons like... Tremors.
I freaking love the Graboids! Much better that the Dune worms.
Mean Girls 2024 was not a remake. Just like Hairspray and The Color Purple, it was an adaptation of an adaptation of a film.
This! All of this!
with mean girls you all have to realize that the movie was more based on the broadway musical than the original movie.
Jumanji never had a remake. The new ones were sequels.
Theres 5 versions of A STAR IS BORN. The original from the 30s, a tv one from the 50s and the Babara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson one from 1976 and the 2 you got.
I figured The Parent Trap was going to be like that. The bias is clear there. How could it not be? Although, I grew up watching the Lindsay Lohan version, I enjoy the original with Hayley Mills.
Agreed
I mean, I love Lindsay Lohan and that movie, and all... but the original has a special place in my heart from when I first watched it with my parents
The OG Parent Trap is iconic. Hayley Mills was amazing in this. These kids need to watch more classics
I loved the original one as well.
@@tarah86 They didn't even play much of the original!
The Moon-Spinners and That Darn Cat! Are also two amazing movies. They need to do one where gen z and millennials watch old movies before the 60s
@@zoeballard8545also the trouble with Angels series
@@JodiesSideEye Love those movies
Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle is a sequel and not a remake. Also the 2023 Mean Girls isn't a remake of the original movie, it is a movie based on the Broadway musical, the musical is an adaptation of the movie. In conclusion, Jumani Welcome to the Jungle and the 2023 Mean Girls movie are not remakes
Steve Martin is also a prop comic
The OG Parent Trap is the better one and I am willing to die on that hill.
Same
It depends on who you ask really
Love Hayley Mills
@@TeXXicJA Same! I remember being shocked when I found out she was Miss Bliss from Saved by the Bell.
I agree with you.
I'm surprised no one in the video mentioned the fact that the "original" Jumanji has Robin Williams in it.
You need to hear Judy Garland sing in the original “A Star is Born”--incredible!
It was a remake. The original was in 1937 or 39
@@mikawhofan True, but the 1937 version was not a musical, which all three that followed it are
Y’all need to watch the original Charley and the chocolate factory with adult eyes. Gene Wilder was brilliant in the role, but way more sadistic than we remember. “Oh no, please don’t “ while rolling his eyes and looking away every time
when she said “i watched this as a kid” with the newer jumanji 😭😭😭
why did that make me feel so old, and i’m not
My favorite line gets me every time “ I’m old I’m like the crypt keeper” 😂😂😂😂
I came in to make sure someone called out 2017 Jumanji not being a remake. Thank you all.
Didn’t even mention Robin Williams in Jumanji
That truly bothered me actually he deserves them flowers
The 2017 Jumanji movie is a sequel not a reboot. They even show how the board game turns into a video game. Some of the new producers are dumb.
I LOVE the remake of the parent trap. You can’t go wrong with Lisa Ann Walter. Also I noticed Lindsay Lohan is in like 3 clips lol
Well technically the 2000s Charlie’s Angels wasn’t the original unless specifically talking movies. Since Charlie’s Angels was originally a TV show from 1976-1981 with Jaclyn Smith, Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson as the 3 Angels.
With Jumanji, Bradley Pierce (Peter) also voiced Chip in Beauty and the Beast.
Hailey Mills was an Oscar winning actress. This was Lindsey Lohan's first film.
Did not know Jodie Foster was in the original Freaky Friday. Will have to check it out!
My jaw dropped when everyone chose the live action Grinch. I’ll never understand what people see in that version.
Jumanji 2017 was Not a Remake but a continuing of the Story line 💯
Was going to say this myself and we know this for sure because in Jumanji the Next Level Bebe Neuwirth comes back as the aunt from the first movie.
Original with Haley Mills is the best!
THE Movie (A Star is Born) was remade several times over Judy Garland is not the original version in the fifties there was a version from the 30s as well as one in the seventies done by Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson before the Bradley Cooper Lady Gaga version, it has been remade four times.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is not a remake it`s a sequel.
The original A Star is Born was in the late 30's, like 36 or somewhere there. Also Dune OG has Patrick Stewart. Had no idea then but loved it even more when I realized it
16:32 the joke that Regina George's hair is insured for $10,000, wasn't a joke. Because she did have to wear a wig- the wig itself was insured for $10,000.
You should have teens react to old commercials featuring celebrities before they were famous and have them try and figure out who those celebrities are.
Jumanji can’t be compared they’re very different concepts and it’s actually a sequel series
Thats the original star is born. The original A star is born came out in the 30's.
The 1950s A Star Is Born is already a remake but there was also anotherone before the 2018 one staring Barbara Streisand.
Yip, original was 30s, remade in 50s, 70s and then recent one.
I find it interesting that they showed the 2000 Charlie’s Angels movie when it was a tv show first.
Paused to come look at the comments on Charlie’s Angels specifically for this reason, especially when they chose to compare the tv version of the Grinch to the movie version.
Ok technically the 2000 Charlie's Angels is not the original. I've seen a lot of people say that simply because nobody talks about the TV show
It wasn't the original iteration of Charlie's angels. It was however the first film adaptation.
It's the original film. The entire episode they are talking about original vs remake films.
Jumanji Was Not a remake, it was a sequel
How can Dune, a 1984 movie be the inspiration for Star Wars, a 1977 movie. Even Return of the Jedi came our before Dune in 1983.
One of the most influential shows for Star Wars was Star Trek. George Lucas said so.
The novel Dune was written in 1965.
George Lucas also said that Dune (THE BOOK SERIES) was a inspiration for Star Wars, next time do your "research" first before.
Izzy is right they both Jumanji are so different, i grew up with the original and new one carried thr theme and modernised
"THOSE are the Charlie's Angels?" Excellent question, Lucas. xD
Fun Fact: the voice actor for the Grinch in the 1966 movie is voiced by Boris Karloff, who is famous for playing Frankenstein's Monster & The Mummy in the original Universal monster movies.
I am very proud of everyone saying original for mean girls! Good job guys! Proud of you! lol
