When was reported to the authorities, to get the fire reported on? If was done overnight, no one was inside it, it has to be arson, without a doubt. What is being done find the culprits, as I am typing this to you? Can you tell me what is the sentence for arson, in your country?
I think i remember you saying that part of the mill is a protected building. Basically meaning that they cant knock it down and re-build it. If i had to guess, theres someone that wants to knock the place down and build something new on it. If thats the case, its relatively common for them to conduct arson attacks on the property damaging it to a point that it has to be knocked down for safety reasons. As soon as that happens, the people wanting to develop will be able to do it. Its scummy, but unfortunately it happens. I was told this from some senior and Ex fire servicemen while i was training for the oil rigs.
They wouldn't be allowed you would have to repair the mill no matter the condition. its been on fire 4 times now I think the people who did it are 3 guys who've been riding round on surround in balaclavas. Besides it already has planning permission and the building which was lit on fire isn't included in the protection.
@@jack66244 AHH I see. They may have changed how it works but I know theres a few buildings that it happened to in Newcastle. I just remember him saying about part of it being protected but can't remember which bit he meant.
This happened in a pub near us last year and they were made to rebuild it exactly as it was before.
It happens all the time all across the country.

The building is no longer listed, hello developer and a new block of flats… inside job.
It was never all listed only parts. Those parts are requried to be rebuilt by the owners or the council will rebuild it and bill the owner
@@DeNick33 the main building’s exterior was listed so you had to keep the external structure but could change internals how you want. However this isn’t ideal cost wise and regulations wise for developers.
I love cleaning and organising so watching Tom fix things is oddly satisfying for me, but please finish a job before you start a new one hahaa your killing me!

Benifical thing you can do to improve using the office chair on carpet is by using underlay intended for stairways as its slightly thinner...Also an easy cheap improvement swapping the castor wheels for larger rubber options designed for hard wood.
Someone has gone and set that on fire purposefully, and I can't lie - The video on it, probably part of the reason.

@Tom, I got to the end of Cowlishaw Lane about 15 minutes after you on my way back from the gym. The firemen at the top of the hill were filling the tender up with water from the pipes up there. As I got past the mill, the policeman next to the pet supplies place that used to be the George pub shut the road and sent everyone back towards Marple Bridge. Glad that you said 12 fire engines as that's what I told my son but the newspapers said that it was 8. They were pumping water out of the river that you thought was a canal (Etherow River) and seemed to be just taking water out of the lakes to cool themselves down. Just saw a bit more. I must have passed you as you were being told to turn round

We had someone called Jimmy Godden that "supposedly" set fire to anything he owned that wasn't profitable. He would often then build on the land that was now available... It sounds like this could be a similar situation.
Exepct it isn't this was a listed building or atleast partly. Any part that was listed is required to be rebuilt and the local coucil can and will rebuild it and just bill the owner
@DeNick33 I completely understand that. I've worked in historic building renovations. However, please do some research on his unfortunate ownership of listed properties, including the UK's oldest railway-Dreamlands Scenic Railway. Thankfully, they have now managed to rebuild it to its once former glory.

Make sure them boys doing the carpet, fully stick the carpet or your chair is going to ruin and delaminate that carpet in no time! The plastic mats don’t work. We fully stick our carpets with f3 because it stops the carpet moving, prolonging the life of your carpet

even if it is a historical building, the multiple fires have probably made it structurally unsafe so it needs to be knocked down otherwise someone is gonna get hurt or killed. safer to do that and just rebuild it with the original blueprints.
Tom Why don't you change the placement of your bike and storage shelves in the garage?
Now the bike sticks out more than the shelves, so you bump into it when restocking the fridge.
If you switch them, you will get more space to move around, and it will be easier to restock the fridge because it is closer by.

Tom, you were talking about getting a plastic chair mat to go on the carpet to make your chair move a bit better... You might consider one of the tempered glass chair mats, they are awesome! Not to mansion the fact that they look great, they are durable beyond the plastic ones - obviously!

An abandoned farm near me recently 'mysteriously' caught fire. Not long after a new housing estate was proposed for the area that it happens to be right in the middle of. Not suspicious at all!
if you don't like the look of those plastic mats for the office chairs. You can look into chair wheel replacements. They make some that are similar to scooter wheels that may work for your carpet.

Hi tom I want to thank you and your family for making us all smile and laugh with your shenanigans especially right now during my hard time just as you say about the mill fire my house burnt down last Saturday and I unfortunately lost a good friend in the fire but your videos remind me that we can't let life get us down. Nope. It'll be a clearance and insurance job. Common unfortunately for listed buildings to be burnt out. Takes away all the listing and clears it for building when otherwise there are laws protecting the structure

@@Shawn-Leider destroying the property takes away it's listing as in, it removes it from the listed building register. Buildings on the list have a lot more stipulations about development, normally that the original structure and outside facings have to be retained and restored. For developers with a site like that mill they just want to knock it, and the only way to legally do that is if the building is destroyed past any possible structural repairs being possible. So they burn the buildings to remove the listed building status and clear for development
@@Mar10K0ng what lies? I know british planning laws, especially around listed buildings as my family own one. They tend to apply only to buildings over 100 or 200 years old so understandable if you're from America you wouldn't have any experience with this
