You know what I like about this movie? Fury Road knows what it is, because George Miller knows what it is, and he crafted it to be exactly that with nothing else crammed in. And what it is, is a movie set in the world of the Mad Max movies, but it's not actually about Max. Max had a trilogy and a character arc, and he finished. This movie is when he just happens to be there during Furiosa's story. I also like all of the other things about this movie. Like, literally all of the things, nothing was bad. I like that all the vehicles are practical, I like that they put world building like it was there, but didn't push it too hard when it wasn't important to the story. I like that there are literally two colours in the movie: red and blue, so that the few seconds you actually see a green place, it's super noticeable. I like the energy of the War Boys, that makes me want to ride eternal, shiny and chrome in Valhalla. I like Furiosa's mechanical arm, I like how the haunting memory of Max's child is still looking out for him, I like that the wives are all individual characters.. I like that there's a guy called Doof Warrior who plays a V8 flamethrower double-guitar suspended on bungee cords in front of a wall of speakers backed by four colossal drumheads over ventilation ducting on the back of a Dieselpunk-modded big rig truck racing at highway speeds across a desert, and I like that zero of the things in that sentence were faked using cgi.
Gavin, I'm always impressed at how you manage to create each song in a style that totally suits the content it's based off of. The range of genres you're able to pull off is amazing.
***** Thank you :) It's all in the arrangements & production - two skills I have worked very hard at for a very long time and I still have much to learn!
miracleofsound You actually made me like Shadows of Mordor even more (I already liked it a whole lot beforehand) with the song. I'd complement Doc's compliment, and say that you even enhance the feeling of some games you make songs to. I hope more people invite you to make songs for their games =D
Know what i really liked about this movie? You know how in some movies there are items to "just make something cool but they have no practical use" (for example Imperial troops with their armor, despite it they cant take 1 shoot, they look cool but that all). Here? at first i thought we have the same theme "oh a plow on a truck, long fancy poles for no reason, spiked cars, ridiculous big cars" that it looks cool but it has no use overal ... boy was i wrong! most of that stuff is used and explained really well and it is amazing.
Baldurs This film is the movie equivalent of "Don't judge a book by it's cover." It's world is deep, it's characters and their motivations are deep, the cars and weapons are practical (like most of the special effects), and I found it to be (without getting into politics) a very empowering film for everyone. Max was a loner, but realized that sometimes you will need help. Furiosa and the brides took their fates back into their hands. Even Nux learned that you can't let others tell you what's worth dying for, only you can decide that for yourself.
NoelistAvenger It was as show of prosperity. If you can flaunt scarce resources that sends a message of power. After all, why would Joe give water to people from a giant stone symbol in the form of a waterfall instead of a much more efficient pipe system? It's an imposing and awe inspiring image to "normal" people in the Wasteland.
Tassadarky [Even Nux learned that you can't let others tell you what's worth dying for, only you can decide that for yourself.] Nux's quiet "witness me" at his demise was goddamn AMAZING precisely because it was contrasted with the flamboyant, rage-fuelled screams from before: it was obvious that it was Nux knowingly sacrificing himself for something he actually believed in, rather than mindlessly repeating something he was *indoctrinated* to believe. I'm not even remotely joking or exaggerating when I say this. This is one of the best songs I've ever heard, and it just might be the best heavy metal song I've ever heard. The lyrics are both badass and poetic, the music and the beat is so unbelievably in sync with the tone of the film itself, and the amount of detail and effort you put into making this a respectful piece to honor a fellow artist's work is..... I'm serious, this song is at least a 9.8/10 for me. Simply AMAZING, and literally almost perfect.

***** That's exactly what happens to me with most MoS songs, most of them strike me as nice at the beginning but the more you liste, the more you ket it sink in.... the better it gets. And that's fuckin epic.
***** Thinking about ringtones, the perfect MoS song for that would be the end part of "The Call", since it ends with "It's time for us all... to answer the call.":D
***** I think its partly getting used to the change in genre, tempo and overall style we get each time, but it is also listening to the actual lyrics. There is always so many little nods and messages that one can get from these songs, and it can take a few listens to interpret them. I think that's what makes Gav so good, he doesn't just make all his themes entirely obvious, and you have to think about many of the songs to understand them properly, making each listen better as the song means more and more to you.
I remember when this song just came out... Now I'm right back in. DAMN YOU, MIRACLE, YOU HAVE TRIFLED WITH MY SLUMBER FOR THE LAST TIME!!!
What a magnificent experience that movie is. I was speechless. The entire theater was speechless, which is something I've never seen before. No one stood up right away, like they usually do, or started speaking. They just took a moment to take in everything that they had seen. And it was truly a lot to be seen.
Long time listener here, love your work Gav. After all this time, I still gotta say this is one of my favourites of yours and perhaps even one of the most comforting songs for me to listen to.
Before the song starts I was just going: Please be metal... Please be metal... Please be metal... Great job! A hell of a lot better than what I could ever come up with!
This is fucking genius. This must be the tenth of your songs I listened to, and the quality and uniqueness of each is insane. My man, what you are doing here is golden, and I can't wait to explore and listen more.

Every time I listen to your music and watch your videos I can't hold the tears. This is so amasing. I'm not a sensitive human but this is too good for me. Your music can be epic or gentle, sad or fun. I'll always be your fan. Also I'm begging you - dude, watch your health, please. I love you
Fury under the hood The charge of motherhood I will never be slowed, will not be caged Fury under the hood The charge of motherhood I will redden the road, release the rage!!!!!
ive got to say, i cant stop listening to this song. even though i listen to a bit "harder" things i just cant stop listening to your music thx for all the homework which was bearable because of your music keep it up like this!
Your people asked our families to leave the towns, and you destroyed our homes. We went into the mines, you set off your bombs, and turned everything to ashes. You made us what we've become. Boom! Boom! Boom! - Big Brain, The Hills Have Eyes (2006) Some things in this world are...are better left where they lie. But if you know where to look, these ruins are full of riches. - 2, 9 (2009) Everything is destroyed. There's no food. No water. Simba, if you don't do something soon, everyone will starve. - Nala, The Lion King (1994)
Holy geebus... Perfect in every way. From the sound to the lyrics to the editing, just was just an amazing total result. First thing I've seen from you and damn if I won't be looking up more.
Finally got a chance to see this film, and now that I have I've garnered a whole new love for this song. Seriously, man, I thought it was pretty cool before - but now it's absolutely epic. :D
Since you've released this song, it has grown on me more and more. It didn't take long for this to become my #1 "get pumped" song and it still is. Thank you for this amazing piece of music!

Your people asked our families to leave the towns, and you destroyed our homes. We went into the mines, you set off your bombs, and turned everything to ashes.
You made us what we've become. Boom! Boom! Boom! - Big Brain, The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
Some things in this world are...are better left where they lie. But if you know where to look, these ruins are full of riches. - 2, 9 (2009)
Everything is destroyed.
He's back baby! This is the heart pumping, horns throwing shredding that I was waiting for from MOS during the recovery period.
This song has a lot of Dunnes in it.
