I hope you enjoy 🫶
UNK 🏁
Bought a new one on a 2000 pound discount in India. Absolute riot! Have done 20000 KMs in less than 8 months with just weekend rides. Have taken it everywhere, even mild offroading. Put a pair of metzeler 9rrs on it and see how the ride quality on both highways and twisties improves by 30 percent! Phenomenal! Such an underrated bike! I can live with the 100 mile range because I end up ripping it and it helps to stop to rest and reset. I am on my fifth tyre..Thats how much I have enjoyed it!
Katana and Hayabusa will always have a very special place in my heart - not in my garage, but still. When the first Katana was showing up in the early 1980's it was a bloody serious piece of work and it surprised quite a lot of riders when they turned the throttle just to find themselves at insane speeds a mere second later. Nothing compared to it. All was left in the dust behind it.
Today it doesn't have that special look any longer, but they can never remove the name and the feel it gives you. The Hayabusa is all of the above ^2.
I think that 150 mph on any bike is pretty academic nowadays. I am happy best at 110mph or lower, but at higher speeds, the buffeting and noise and wobbling if you're not tucked right in, is just a chore.
We all do the top speed run, but once is enough about 150 mph
U r so polite to the drivers Kate. Really nice to see for a Change 👍
Thank you! 😃
No "Nobbers" out today .. 🤣
Can’t beat the sound of a Japanese inline four cylinder
That's why I just thrashed my 'Blade👍😂😂
Nice vid. It's such an underrated bike & the more people hate on it, the more I like it. I also think it looks great. The 12 litre tank is silly but there are plenty of other bikes out there with very similar ranges of about 120 miles despite larger tanks. Nobody really criticises them because the tank capacity is greater but the end result is the same. The MT10 & Ducati V4 Street Fighter to name a couple of examples.
My current bike has averaged 90 miles per tank, lmfao. It only sucks when you can only have 1 bike and want to travel
my tuono only goes 110 per tank but it has a 20 liter tank.
If the capacity is more but those bikes aren't delivering more miles from the larger tank... those bikes are robbing you.
I suppose we shouldn't be surprised. The long-stroke (relative to category) should mean it's a more efficient engine by default, and that appears to be the case.
That K5 engine is a real peach and absolutely bulletproof.
Love it Kate ......killing these bike reviews. 😊👍
The Dash is deliberately designed to be 80s style...as that is where the original Katana bike came from. So Suzuki, even while it may seem imperfect, wanted to link the modern Katana to that 80s retro style.
I love that bike! It reminds me of being a little kid and looking at motorcycles with my friends 😊
Great video Kate,filtering like a boss.👍🏻
My current bike a GSXS1000 on a 22 plate , i love it , the Katana is basically same bike with a different overcoat on , but I love the looks of the Katana , especially the Matt blue with gold wheels plus they are a rare bike too , possibly my next purchase
I have a 2019 katana. Living in germanys south my trips leads me to croatia, Italy and Spain. And yes the tank is a bit too small but the riding and sound are great. Your videos are superb, thank you.
Absolutely lovely video, getting even more excited to get the new Katana in a few weeks (hopefully)! 😊
Sounds pretty epic , yet another fun impressions video , thanks Kate
Owned one for 3 years when they were 1st launched! Loved it apart from Tank range😮 The induction roar brings it all back😅😅
Ooh. This SO makes me want one! I had a 650 Katana back in the day - but years later, THIS bike is beautiful looking! (And sounding!)
very nice bike and great vlog thanks ATB 👍🏻👍🏻
@Kate - Excellent narration. Excellent ride. Excellent bike. Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!
Great review Kate, Suzuki should put tft from 8s on this and increase tank to 16 litres and it would be perfect.
🤞🤞🤞
I'd even be cool with 14.5L but 12!?!? Dang Suzuki.
Nah. Tft isn’t essential. I’m looking at the road most of time, not staring at the display. As for range, this would be for me, a second bike. My Vstrom 1050 XT fills the commuting/touring role, so a bigger tank isn’t necessary.
On my shopping list - is the engine good? Are the brakes good? QS? Fuelling? So many other things are important. Not whether it has a TFT.
3:42 QS / auto-blipper- 7:16 throttle response (that's fueling) / rider modes / traction control - 9:52 more QS review - 10:01 engine - 11:38 fuel tank criticism. Every M/C review touches on the display, so to not mention it would have generated criticism also.... can't please everybody. No comment on the brakes was definitely a reviewer "miss," but I thought it was a decent job for somebody who wasn't alive to experience the original Katana in the early 1980's (I had two of them, one being my first new purchase off the showroom floor) which could have made for a more entertaining review to compare historical analog between then and now. @@martyn_g
Another great video Kate. Although I'm not a fan of four cylinder bikes as a rule, I have to say that that Katana sounded absolutely awesome.
Ok, you sold it, I've gone n got one. 2019 model lowish miles.
LOVE IT.
Proper smooth, refined, fast, etc etc especially after my old SV1000.
Cheers lass, keep up the beltin work n give the Mike a big hug from me for looking after yer.
Griff from Wigan end ot patch.
You hit the nail on the head there flower, it's the sound of a good bike that's dangerous. 🤘
Hey Kate really enjoyed your review and showing your road craft as you read your way through those gravel laden twisties and some of your almost Poetic descriptions and possible New words.
Think your decision to go Full time Vloger is paying off🌍
UNK
Great review! Refreshing coming from a Lady that knows how to really push a bike. It does have a very nice sound that will temp you to into hooligan territory! Thank you for this review!
Ride SAFE and BE safe. 👍👍
Gosh, I remember the Katana the first time around, always such a beautiful bike… love that raspy note that you know I’d get nicked riding one of them…. Great review though.
I love the Katana....very quirky and cool!
The blue with gold wheels looks the business, my dream bike one day .Great video 👍
Well, Username Katana, it looks like you were having fun!
Thanks Kate, you obviously enjoyed the ride. I don't know much about the new Katana but it does seem to go and sound very nice. :>)
I think it looks and sounds amazing! If I had the coin, I'd buy one for sure. Beautiful bike!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 super Video. Oh ja die Katana macht richtig Spaß 👍🏻👍🏻🙋🏼♂️
Great video Kate ! As far as the riding experience, how much does this differ from the gsxs1000 ? And do you feel that Suzukis fly under the radar/ are underestimated due to their lack of "Gucci bits" over the actual riding experience ?
I adore mine. Resplendent with full Yoshimura system.
I had the ‘85 Suzuki GS1150 and I so want this bike, even if it’s for the pure nostalgia, or as a, as you say, “Sunday spanker.”
I think the Katana is perfectly, imperfect. Dash is now unique. Tank size keeps the spec sheet nerds away. We'll done Suzuki.
Ok 👏🎉👍 Kate 😊
Ty Kate great vlog and you've always had street cred :)
I switched the oem tyres out, on purchase for road 6, which transforms the bike. Makes it tip in to corners quicker and holds its line like its on rails.
Great review 👏
Hi Paul I used Pirelli Rosso Corsa 3 s but they were venerable to punctures, switched to Metzeler and that worked.
@Achilles22 yeah corsas are great, as are Metzlers. I went for road 6 (not used them before) as they last a good while and give pretty good wet and dry grip. No complaints so far.
My try bridgestone of metzler when I change them. Thanks for the reply
And drop the pressures in the rear it helps
@@BarnettSpeedSuzukiThou yes I used to run 39 psi in the rear
Brilliant vid where was the cafe the food looked really good
Some serious street cred on that beast! Mega!!!
Loved the early katakana, this looks great, problem for this there's so many bikers out there to choose from , love your enthusiasm, suzuki for many years have been in the doldrums, not enough bikes in the range I owned 8 suzuki motocyes early 1970s till late 1980s great bikes, great sound ,like you mentioned no facilities for touring ,weekend end fun or a tank and seat bag and s rucksack, not always practical,
oooooh that lovely Lancashire countryside
Like a kid with a new toy Kate, and why not, nice bit of filtering footage going on👍🏻
Tomboy a bit managed a good walk round of the bike. An old katana as well. I had to turn the sound down a bit though them tunes she has on . Very interesting riding gear being worn as well. 😂 ❤
Have to agree the sound of that bike is a throttle turner.
This is such a good looking bike! And comfy! Hmm...maybe I should do more than just sit on it in the shop?
I enjoy watching vids on roads I know, thanks.
Good to see you review the Katana…it doesn’t get much attention.
You road virtually right past Ducati Preston…did you nip in for a drool 😁
Haha I know I did!! I was against the clock but it was very tempting!!!
Hi 👋 Kate😢😢😢😭 I ‘m a little bit sad. Listening to your nice words for that angry tomcat makes me miss her even more, damn.
I traded it for duke 890 R because I wanted a lighter 2 cylinder so badly, but to be honest the katana was way easier to ride, even though 50 kilograms fatter. The Katana seemed tailored on my sizes and it was very difficult to find some cons, except for the tank. She was so “badassly” hooligan. I think you felt same emotions… what a dream bike.
Not mentioning I had it brand new, really for cheap (10200 € on the road, all included with Jindachi pack in 2021), because she had not the success she deserved, here in Italy, and euro 5 hasn’t been even imported.
Anyway, what’s done is done; now I have to race with my horses.
Thank you for beautiful video.
I bought a 2020 Katana new, loved it... but sold it back in January of this year. Shouldn't have but hindsight is 20/20. If a cheap used one comes along, I'll likely buy another.
The small tank was what put me off so when my bike shop said they had the last GSX-S 1000F in Oz I had to go and look and buy that bug eyed machine. Specs are pretty much the same, same engine, similar horsepower, no blipper or quick shifter, but I'm pretty good with a clutch. The only difference is I've fitted a Yoshimura Alpha 1 exhaust which in hindsight was a breeze to fit and has enhanced that sound which would have naughty Kate turning into feral Kate. The frame is a bit different, rear subframe looks a bit stronger on the Katana. Ride wise handling is a bit better on the Katana but it's more of my perception as I only had the Katana for a day. I have no problems with the GSX-S1000F as it does what it says on the tin.
Have a 2021 Katana, so much fun. Barring the small tank its a super fun bike.
For me the character and sounds of the MT10 engine over the looks of the Katana wins it for me, otherwise, I really love the Katana.
Hey Kate how are you doing today looking forward to seeing this nothing beats seeing you on a sportsbike wearing your leathers and your world famous swanky helmet and dark visor ride safe lovely only one username Kate x
'Sunday Spanker' is my new favourite type of motorcycle.
Not many knobbers out..... love it
🤣🤣 they stayed at home that day!
Luv ya toooooo hahahaha. What a bike indeeeed
Haha....naughty naughty Kate 😊
The new blue colour looks amazing...I want one !
Could you tour comfortably ?
Cornwall etc
Kate's new English dictionary 😂😂👏👏👏😉
Good review 👍 Nice looking bike but the GSX-S1000 has +2bhp, few less kilo's and a 19 litre tank that won't give you range anxiety when you're out with friends. Totally agree with the engine sound and go, it's a sweet machine.
Yet its odd because I'd go Katana over GSXS1000. There's just something about it! 😁
@@UsernameKate I agree it's the better looker. Always liked the Katana's from the eighties. If you ride it mostly solo you won't care much about the smaller tank range.
Really enjoy your review and your enthusiasm for bikes and riding and rocket lettuce but you need to throw a little walk around of the bike (bad ass apparently) in there also ;) - keep on keeping on !
Hey Beetley! Because I do dedicated walkrounds prior to the rides, I sometimes forgot to add a snippet of the bike. I'm not perfect but always open to constructive criticism 😁 If you still want to see the bike more closely, you can do so here: ruclips.net/video/tfLwwGhPFm0/видео.html
Appreciate the feedback 🤝
@@UsernameKate Absolutely Kate - it's because you are not perfect we like you - i will check out the walk around :) take care.
I'm 76 and I want one for an hour or two blast through the mountains!
17:48 Uh oh the Hoolagan is comming out lol
I’ve just fallen in love 😅 she’s fantastic 👍👍
I've wanted one for a while, but living in the US we only got the first model year, and any new old stock were only marked down like $500. Now with the 23 model we need to reserve it. At least i like the blue, if only because i like blue
Like Ur style.
Great review . Definitely a small tank though. BTW what's a Knobber? Best!
Haha knobber, like knobby half wit. Idiot basically 🤣
I call them c#nts!
😂 I’ll have to remember that!
@ Hotshoe Idaho USA great vid
Hi Kate, can you tell me what microphone you use in your helmet? Only I have a GoPro hero 8 which I am in the process of rigging up to my helmet and would appreciate your recommendations for microphones, thanks Russ
Torque, torque Kate. Horse power great but high nos of limited usage on road. Torque another issue, can use it everywhere and anywhere for a better riding experience. Katana got 78 lb-ft / 106 Nm nearly on par with my bike 😜
I love the snore of a litre four.🎶👍🏼
Proper badass would have been steak n chips with the cheese n pear. 😋
Great first ride. I sat on katana and found it a little tall. Bit tippy toes and at 215kg I would be happy with firmer planted feet. How did it work you you?
'No! Naughty! Stop! Bad Kate! Bad!!' 🤣🤣🤣✌
Love the way this thing looks but I needed something bit more practical so I bought the GT.
Where was that cafe, Kate? The food looked superb, and the local roads fun.
I asked Kate that question in her "Taking a look at the 2023 Suzuki Katana" posting about a week ago. Kidsnape Farm. Inglewhite Road, PR3 2EB
A friend has a 22 Katana 1000. He out-pulls my 750... Just barley. I lead through the bottom of the powerband but not on top.
What brand is your jacket and the gloves? Thank you.
Nice riding footage. What were you riding? Katana? What does it look like?
Might as well been riding a CZ for all anyone knows...........
Next time please do a walk around the bike life. I was very curious to see the whole machine.
Your wish is my command as I filmed it recently: ruclips.net/video/tfLwwGhPFm0/видео.html Thanks!
I'm gonna be bold and say that the best modern day bikes come outta the Suzuki factory. You have recently just ridden two of the very best... this Katana and the V-Strom. My daughter rides a '04 Bandit and even that is still a good'n, even without the modern day electro gadgets. Think she's currently flirting with a GSX-8S.
That exhaust sound here is pure Ear pornography, love it. Reckon if I rode that bike for long, especially listening to "Highway to Hell" turned up loud, that's where i'd end up... in Hell. Yeah, unfortunately i'm too old now to thrash that machine the way I and it wants to. So guess i'll stick to my Cruiser and let you do the mad stuff, as that's also good for me, to watch you having fun, and entertaining enough to keep me entertained..., go get'em girl, go munch them miles!
Good times and happy days are only found in large portions when on a bike, and you sure are confirming that..... and wot's better, you're gettin' paid for it ! See ya.
Suzuki would likely have sold 50% more Katanas with a reasonable tank size. Otherwise, sweet bike. Nice review.
Hey there Kate I know what a quick shifter is but what is an auto blipper
4:58 was "when harry met sally" at Katz Deli
Great videos. I have one question. You have ridden and reviewed both the Yamaha XSR900/MT09 and the Suzuki Katana. Which of those would you buy as your own, and why?
The order is xsr900, katana then mt09, they are all fantastic bikes
@@UsernameKatereally? Thought it would have been Katana >XSR900>MT09
GRACIAS :)) A BEAUTIFUL MAQUINA ! A SUPER ENGINE !! A SEDUCTIVE SOUND !!! .... who cares about the small tank ? there are gas stations every 100 kilometers or less :))))
Love that the Katana still looks like the Katana from many moons ago...😁
No it doesn't. Clean your glasses
@@trevjones1315 yes it does.know your classics.
😂😂 I own an original 1000 kat and it looks nowt like the new one. And now your going to tell me they didn't do an old 1000 cause I don't know my classics. 🤔
i have a 20 katana. it is a great machine. Not much mod stuff available though
Trouble is Kate at my age all bikes sound the same 😂😂😂🤪
I think you may find a lid with a drop down internal sun visor beneficial.
Probably very practical but I can't get away from my x spirit 3. Best lid for my head and vlogging set up 😁
I would have expected a ride review to have the suspension setup (adjustable?) as we are all different and suspension/tyres are the one of the main things in handling. Suzuki are known for putting cheapish shocks and forks on bikes which service the bike well for a couple of years but usually need upgrading. My GSX 1250 FA is shortly getting an adjustable Nitron rear shock as I am a lightweight but it seems setup for a 120+ kg rider. Katana sounds nice tho', but I personally don't like it's style. I'd rather have the 1000GT.
Handling was great even with everything out the box. I never really liked suzukis own tyre choices with this bike. Said they were developed for the bike but I'd change as soon as they were at the end of their life for sure.
You are a badass!
Cruise control and a fifteen litre tank and I would buy one, good looking bike
A bigger tank isn’t essential in a bike like this.
Been watching your reviews from across the pond and thoroughly enjoying them . This Katana is so unique , look sound etc .
Thank you!! the katana is such a fun bike, its a very marmite bike
I love the looks, but a larger tank & TFT dash would improve it.
Neither is essential in a bike like this.
Do like a Suzuki, but the tank size is a killer for me as a daily commuter, also would have to get rid of that back number plate gubbins
Whohahaha! 😂 Bad Kate indeed! The original 750 and 1100 Katana’s are true design icons. Suzuki reviving that look is a good thing although this one misses the sleekness of the original. Ever increasing air box volumes however make it difficult to keep such wiry lines and the tank volume also suffers accordingly. My fave bike however only carries 10 l. Irritating but does not keep me from riding it with glee. Such bikes are not made for touring anyway.
My 750 with 2, 1/2 grand in mods makes 140hp to the wheel. It is fast as a first timer on prom night.
I can and have hyper-mile'd mine to 126 miles to the tank.
Damn nice piece of kit please let me know what a auto blipper does
auto blipper allows you to change down the gears without the us of the clutch
What helmet do you have on in this video? 😊
You wouldn't be so popular if you DIDN'T hammer the throttle when looking @ that sweet stretch ahead!!! Haha❤
