not sure if you will see this comment but… i’ve been really struggling with my mental health lately, ive been struggling to find motivation to do any hobbies that make me happy but today i’ve been sat watching some of your most recent videos, i pulled out my sketchbook and drew along whilst watching your videos and now i’m flooded with ideas and have filled multiple pages of art i love! you are a ray of sunshine and your videos are such a comfort for me☀️ ps, Aspen is such a cool name it really suits you!
Honestly, thank you for not finishing the sweater in this video. I didn’t know I needed that. RUclips can sometimes make me feel like an inadequate knitter because I don’t finish a project by the end of a 30 minute video because my life isn’t in an edited video format. 😅 but this video did motivate me to cast on my next sock! Trying out stripes for the first time.
For anyone asking for a tutorial or pattern for this sweater: This is a bottom-up drop shoulder sweater. The simplest construction there is! Find some yarn and needles that you like and knit a BIG SWATCH, like 9 inches square (yes, this is important. otherwise you might spend 10s of hours knitting a sweater that you hate/doesn't fit). Then you do a little bit of very simple math and you can make your super awesome sweater. "The Knitter's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns" by Ann Budd is classic knitting resource book of base sweater patterns at a variety of gauges. I got it from my library! Roxanne Richardson has a series on basics of every knit sweater style, along with a bunch of videos on basic design/math/swatching etc. To conclude, all of the knitting knowledge you want is available for free! You can make anything without a pattern or tutorial! I believe in you!!
I usually can't focus on a project unless I'm listening to music or watching videos! Your videos are perfect for me while I work. Currently working on a crochet Jester hat
god so many advanced techniques... this is so impressive fr i'm both really amazed and overwhelmed (the bind off?? the calculating the number of stitches for the sleeves??? the double sleeve knitting??????) really cool video as per uj its motivating but also a very chill watch
Inpired by you setting healthy expectations for your progress and not rushing to finish the sweater just for this video! Working on crocheting neck ribbing for a fair isle crochet moon sweater that I nearly finished last winter and have been procrastinating on the ribbing ever since lmao truly my least favorite part of the process (but so worth it)
I NEVER considered doing all four components at one time for a flat-knitted sweater!! Revolutionary. I'm working on a few projects at once, but the one I'm closest to finishing is the Long Summer cardigan by Joji Locatelli. It's a duster-length cardi with fingering yarn and I'm getting ✨tired of it ✨
I am really liking the electric blue! It’s not quite neon, but it is nice and bright and perfect for fall/winter when everything is so dark and dreary.
Loved watching your progress with this piece it's such a beautiful color!! I'm working on a granny square blanket with all the scrap yarn I have laying around. I'm over here frogging half complete projects I gave up on to add the yarn as layers. I'm really loving it so far because its so colorful : D
i'm knitting a scarf for the first time! i've not knit much at all, but i first learned when i was eight and made a couple coasters, but over the summer i asked my grandmother to show me how to and so i practiced a for a few days then. and on sunday, i decided to finally use yarn i had gotten for my birthday, kind of a weird amount of yarn so i wasn't sure what to use it for and so i figured a striped scarf would work, so i'm just sorta going until i run out of yarn. i've knit over a foot in these past few days and i've made surprisingly few mistakes.
I decided as a 21 year old adult that I’m going to crochet a bunch of dolls for myself to play with (all of them are characters from my tomodachi life game) because I want to PLAY more and be silly and have fun. I’ve been watching and rewatching a bunch of your content during that and you’ve been a delightful companion
I love the color! I can’t wait to see the end result! Currently I’m knitting two projects, one is the “Taquile” pattern by Marianne Isager, and the other is the “Children’s Choose Your Own Fungi Sweater” by Grey Owl Knits, which I’m making for my nephew. They are both pretty intricate and involve a lot of stranded colorwork. I actually ended up burning out for quite a long time and only recently picked up the pace again. It’s nice to have videos like yours to knit along to!
So many of your videos (especially over at deadname in the moment!) helped me so much while I was struggling from post-partum depression this year. So I wanted to drop you a note that I’m thinking of you and wishing you strength right now.
Currently working on a big witch hat with mushrooms on it! This is my first wearable so it's been a lot coming from doing mostly plushies but it's coming out pretty good so far! I found your videos a few months ago and you really inspired me to finally learn how to crochet so thank you!!!! (I'd been trying for years but couldn't figure it out)
it was nice watching this video while also knitting a sweater on circular needles bc the tiptapping of the needles hitting each other coming from both our projects at the same time was so cozy haha! i hope it turns out as well as yours has so far!
Currently my project is learning this one pattern that I bought that is super complicated but fun to learn, it has a lot of technical stuff I've never done before and it creates a result I would've never gotten if I tried to just do stuff on my own!
your videos are becoming my good luck charm 😂 finally figured out a stitch that’s been stumping me for MONTHS! (and the sweater is incredible! what a color and such cool technique too)
I love the electric blue! I have a dark blue/purple yarn similar to how that looks I can't wait to turn into some socks and handwarmers for winter. Been working on a uv neon green/black hexagon cardigan with little alien applique granny squares that are going in as the middle back panel once I'm done. First time adjusting a hexagon pattern so the arms are comically large to compensate for my broader shoulders, so fingers crossed my winging it works! Still unsure if I want to make more aliens to go all the way down the back, or just part way and make it short vs a mid-thigh sort of length. Always love watching your videos on here or your other channel while I crochet. It's like sitting in crochet club any time I want.
I'm late to the response party, but I'd love to see a 3rd vlog, even if it's a short conclusion of the sweater, and I DEFINITELY want the granny hoodie tutorial!
I also get pulled to my books when I need to get my knits done. I now have a lap pillow that holds the book open for me! So I can read Michio Kaku or Brandon Sanderson while working on a sweater
I love how the sweater is coming out!! I think blue won’t suit me but I love the idea of it standing out for the winter time!! Currently working on a green blue beanie for my friend as a Christmas present & I’m almost done with it so yay!
Found you thru Grace’s videos & am currently working on her scandy stretchy black square top for a friend but you’ve inspired me to work on a cozy sweater next!!
this sweater is gonna be Sweet! I'm wokring on fingerless gloves, my second knitting project ever and i've made so many mistakes along the way but learning so much
I really love the color of your sweater. I really enjoyed watching yours and Kelsie’s vacation vlogs. It looked like you all had a lot of fun and got to relax, too. I got some yarn from Arcane before your trip. I love it!
well, since you asked...i just started on the blanche sweater by heart hook home! it will be a christmas present for my sister (reminder to start your holiday projects NOW y'all!!)
i just started working on the Wavy Cardi by Sarah's Silly Hands, it's my first time using a knitting pattern AND mohair, so i'm really excited. it's way slower than the crochet projects i've made for myself but i know i'll be super proud of myself when it's done
I always find your vlogs so chill!! I hope the sweater comes out how you like! 🥰 I’ve been working on a beret inspired on a game I like with some rather crazy colour work! The increases kinda went a little haywire so I plan to block the project before starting the decreasing
I'm working on a simple black raglan sweater. I mostly use cotton, but I've come to realize that I should maybe use wool in the future because it's moisture-wicking.
I’m working on a rose cardigan for my sister! I’m on the sleeves of my project rn 😂 so perfect video to watch as I frog 🐸 a rose cause I messed up my stitch count 😂
Envious Knitting the Elizabeth Blouse (Petite Knit) I have been working on it for over a month I did do one mosaic pattern sock but still seems like awhile. This is my first sweater been knitting way too long to admit to that. But again very envious of how fast you are getting this sweater done.
I love your videos! I'm currently knitting my first pair of socks which is something I've wanted to do for a very long time. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us all! Also Aspen suits you very well :)
is there any chance you'll be attending the fiber festival in west springfield MA at the beginning of november? you've become my favorite knitter on youtube and it would amazing to meet you and chat about yarn!
I'm working on a baby blanket for my coworker but actually switched to doing a jigsaw puzzle part of the way through the video because my hands were getting sore :^)
For the cuffs, I just want them tight enough to stay when I push them up to my elbows. I hate wet sleeves and I wash my hands a lot. I am not a dainty handwasher.
I love this colour, and watching you knit while I crochet is like hanging with a craft friend. Thank you, Aspen. Also is there a patter for that glorious dancing trans tapestry in the background. My equally glorious son wants his fairly glorious mum to make it. @made in the moment.
Not sure if this is the right place for this but!! would very much love if you made a video detailing some good sources to order yarn online? I’ve attempted to do some research but it’s a bit hard to find independent sources speaking on different sites and sellers and such!!
im working on making matching cardigans for me and my girlfriend & her girlfriend. but during ur video i was working on a commission for a tattoo trade - the cuffs on a cardigan :-)
Question: did you read a lot of Junie B. Jones as a kid? My family were obsessed with those books, and we always say “plus also” because that’s what she always used to say and my mom thought it was hilarious! Thank you for the video, I really love watching process videos, and I always look forward to your content.
Vlog 2: Electric Blue-galoo 😂😂 ,,💙💙💙
I was about to make the exact joke haha.
@@ajlorentz Great minds :D

The deep dives into nickelodeon in the background is fully things ive watched and rewatched because of how crazy the whole situation was
Acid Jazz saved my marriage! 😂
You're taste in clothing is impeccable!
Yarn pun intended?
@jennyjay3552 puns are always intended. 💖

The knitting while not looking at it 🤯
As a newer knitter, I appreciate the shots of how you hold the extra yarn, needles, and project because I'm still figuring out how to do that lol

I'm in awe of your ability to knit blind!
Love the blue Aspen! Would love to have a video of how to make the hoodie! Thank you for your vlogs
i’m working on some colorwork crochet potholders for christmas while watching this!! loved seeing the progress, that blue yarn is stunning :)
Can’t believe Denmark got a mention! We would love to have you

I love all your content, but the knit crochet is so encouraging and satisfying! Definitely looking forward to the granny square tutorial 😁

This is exactly the content I needed right now! LOVE that yarn color

I usually do not alternate skeins for sleeves unless I really notice a difference throughout a skein.
Oh, I'd be super interested in a video tutorial for the granny hoodie! You've already got me wondering what colors I could use
this sweater is gonna be Sweet! I'm wokring on fingerless gloves, my second knitting project ever and i've made so many mistakes along the way but learning so much

Have you read knitting for anarchists? I think if I decide to knit a sweater I will follow the "recipes" in that book.
I think thats such a pretty color . I also make both sleeves at once.
I really love the color of your sweater. I really enjoyed watching yours and Kelsie’s vacation vlogs. It looked like you all had a lot of fun and got to relax, too. I got some yarn from Arcane before your trip. I love it!
