- Jason and Jaime take on the Bahamas 2018
In June 2018, Jason and Jaime captained their Yamaha SX192 from Miami to Bimini. Then from Bimini to Great Harbour Cay, Berry Islands.
This is a taste of their adventure...
Great Video. Definitely on my bucket list. Ahhh, life before kids...
Thanks Troy.
Thank you for bringing joy to my wife and I while we make the best of the grind up north .. way up north !
Thanks for watching. Where up north are you? We are originally from the Cleveland area.
@@TheJKSquared Nyc . As you can imagine our current forecast. Can't wait for our next trip though .. anywhere between South Fl and the Caribbean's.
There is a Miami to Bimini ferry that I hear good things about.
@@TheJKSquared thanks .! Will look up
Great job on your videos!
Thank you so much!!
Very nice video. Great areas seen. Thanks for sharing
Hi Ramon, thanks for watching.
Outstanding, love the energy! Looking forward to this trip next year...
Thanks Derrick. That’s great, you won’t regret it.
How long did it take to go from Bimini to great harbor? We are about to make the passage in June. Approx 30MPH.
Due to weather and water conditions that we faced it took us about 5.5-6 hours of travel to get to Great Harbor. We originally anticipated about 3.5-4 hours at approx 30mph. Safe travels to you! I hope your journey is amazing!
Another great video. Trip looks awesome.
Thanks James. It sure was.
Kind of adventure I love. Just getting on the boat and going!
It was a heck of a trip. Lots of fun combine with some fright.
Hey guys fantastic video & production quality!
I stumbled upon this channel after learning about Jamie's RD story from Pauls channel. You seem happy and look great, it's great to see you enjoying life!

Awesome sounds good!!!!
Great finish to a fantastic trip!
Thanks Justin!
Another great vid guys! That spot y'all anchored at around 3:45 was amazing!
Thank you. That is Hoffmann’s Cay. If you pull it up on Google Maps you will see the blue hole we jumped into.
Good production value and use of the drone. Liked and subscribed!
Thanks GB
Awesome video, as always! What camera do you use on the pole? GoPro? Keep up the fun work:)
Thanks Wayne. We used a GoPro 4 but the new videos we are working on are with a DJI Osmo Action.
You should get the new Hero 7 Black. It has crazy, good stabilization.
Hi Dan. You are right, Hero 7 is awesome. We just picked up a DJI Action. We will be posting a super smooth jet skiing soon.
LOVE IT ! i've been constantly watching all these and the jet ski trips to the Bahamas and prepping right now for end of May to do just that, Great VIDS !!!! going to be on a Florida Waterway tour basically from April 29-??? gotta love that retired life 😊, oh and hopefully this week my own videos, just about done with all the mods to my 2021 GTX 300 😍
Wow that’s great. May is coming up quick. You still planning your trip?
@@TheJKSquared building my storage system tomorrow, scuba refresher tonight, hitting tho road 4am wed !
forgot to add, so i'm starting in Destin and taking all of May to drive down from there to the Keys, hitting a bunch of water ways along the way, camping or airbnbs or hotels and meeting up with friends along the way, Beach wedding in Santa Rosa May 1st, then a group meetup in Miami weekend of 21st, looking for scuba spots as well and dependent on weather the Sea Doo to the Bahamas, thinking bouncing around all the way to the Atlantis and spending 2 nights there
That’s incredible. I hope you take some video of your experiences. I would love to see them. We are very excited for you. Please stay safe.
@@TheJKSquared I plan to video and record a LOT this trip, I have to GP's with 10 batteries and tons of memory so i'm totally out of excuses and mounts for cameras on my best and ski plus I finally got the last mods for my ski so gonna have tons of videos of the mods and customization in 52 hours be in Destin !
Really nice video..... Your video of GHC is much better than mine... :( I love this place, and hope I can retire there eventually.
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I can see us retiring there as well.
Are you ready to make the trip to Bimini on the Waverunners next summer?
We’ve talked about it. It will probably take a little more convincing.
Very nice, question...
What was your average fuel consumption from Bimini to Harbour Cay and about how long did it take you.... ? How many days were you gone?
Thanks man.
From Bimini to Great Harbour, we were traveling against the wind and water. Approx 100 miles, 58 gal burned. We only burned 45 gal on the way back to Bimini.
2 nights in Bimini, 7 nights on Great Harbour Cay, then 2 nights in Bimini on the way back.
The JK Squared Do you remember what kind of speed you were doing? I can get 6.5 gph @ 25kts...
thanks
We usually get 2.8-3 mpg at 6k rpm which usually is 30 mph. We prob averaged 18 mph at 6k on the way out.
What's the name of the hotel with the pull up boat docks?
Hi Chris, the townhouse was in Great Harbour Cay Marina.

Definitely inspired by your videos. I just ordered a Yamaha 195S and we are planing to do this next year. What size extra fuel tank do you recommend?
We had four, 5 gallon cans in the ski locker on our Bimini trips. Never needed them. Averaged 26 gallon burn each way.
Ah, to be DINKS (Duel income no kids) again, that was the life. Great vids, The bimini run is on my bucket list, just ordered our 2019 AR210. Although, would have to trailer from Wisconsin to Miami... That's a hike. Also, saw you clean out your port, was seaweed an issue?
Thank you. Yea, we had to stop a dozen times or so. Lots of seaweed.
Muy buenos tus videos, hice el viaje con ustedes, saludos. Rudy.
Thank you!!!!!
Where do you park your tow vehicle in Miami that is safe? How much does it cost?
We parked our truck and trailer at the Haulover Boat Ramp where we launched our boat. There is quite a bit of truck/trailer parking, and a lot of activity, so it seems safe to us. We have parked there twice (Bimini in 2016 for 5 days and then this trip for 2 Weeks) and have never had an issue. We do lock chains in our trailer tires and lock the trailer to the truck as deterrent, but feel safe leaving everything there. The price is between $15/17 per day depending on weekday/weekend/holiday pricing. But it’s payable and you can track the remaining time left via a parking app, so that’s convenient just in case you get held up in the Bahamas unexpectedly.
Never launch or used that marina yet. The three times we made the crossing we used Crandon Marina in Key Biscayne. Never ever had a issues with vehicles. It cost about $17 day I believe to leave your vehicle over night. Real easy with a kiosk to collect your money and print out a ticket for your vehicle.

Hey guys what model drone did you use?
Hi Len, we have the DJI Mavic Pro.
Great video guys. Was wondering how the sx192 was in the open water handling the waves
Let me know. I'm currently in the market for one. Thanks
Thanks Luca. The boat handles well as long as your willing to really drive it, not just plow forward into the waves. It takes some practices but it’s not too difficult. Like a giant jet ski.
The JK Squared what are some tips on how to really drive it? I'm a newbie I'll be buying my first boat and would love to get some tips. Thanks!
Experience will teach you a lot. I’m not sure where most of your driving will take place but salt water experience is beneficial. For example, when a decent size wave is approaching you the last thing you want to do is get off the throttle. This will cause the bow to dip and water to fill the he boat thus swamping the engine. Now your dead in the water. We took a small amount of water 1 time in the gulf outside the Tampa area. Learned my lesson. Experience in big water teach you over time.
The JK Squared yea I live in miami so most of my driving will be done in salt water. So pretty much what you're saying is when a decent size wave is coming up you want to accelerate on top of it instead of slowing down...
Right, do not let the bow dip or water will come over the top.
Great video just subbed
Thanks Frank
where is that sunken plane?
The plane was next to Great Harbour Cay - just west of Bullocks Harbour. If you search Apple Maps you can see it in the water.
Great Video! One day 😉
