We literally just started learning Blender here as it's free! Definitely more of this please with Blender into After Effects workflows as much as you can! 😁
Really cool to see you guys dive into Blender. As an avid blenderer myself I take a lot of personal pride in seeing it used well...almost like a proud parent. It's a great developing piece of software.
I have quite a few years of experience in Blender doing motion design and vfx....I feel I could follow all the steps but still...this is probably the most advanced vfx tutorial you ever did on this channel....chapeau!!
So glad you guys are showing tutorials in blender! After years of learning from your videos in AE and applying it in Blender, now it makes you feel even more personal! :D
I literally asked for this effect about 5 years ago when I just started off with Film Riot. And I picked up Blender soon after, I'm excited to see how you'd achieve this.
All 3D software is intimidating to begin with. Just play around with it and do some tutorials. Blender is said to be complicated but I think it‘s just that more people give it a brief look as it‘s free.
@@UwePieper nah I’ve learned in maya and using blender is complicated, basically it’s not very intuitive to learn. So it is hard, at the end of the day people don’t care about price
@@ThomasSchannel Every 3D software has its own quirks so switching has some problems, as well. For sure other 3D software is making some things easier but no 3D software is easy to begin with. It‘s just not like anything you did before.
@@UwePieper I used blender before maya years ago, 2015-2016 and it was hard. I’m not saying other programs are easy, but blender is harder in other areas. As blender is not just a 3d program so it’s designed to encompass all the other things too.
For horizontal movement accross the frame like that, it's no biggie, but using Fspy and setting your Blender camera's focal length to match the real focal length will add the accuracy you need for motion that moves along the camera's eyeline. That's the kind of 3D motion that Blender really shines compared to Ae.
Holy cow, the masking trick for the camera tracker is really helpful, thank you! Of course the whole effect is awesome, but this little trick is great, this will improve my tracking game a lot. 😊🙏 Thank you Ry Guy. 😉
Wow, very advanced tutorial. I've been thinking about learning Blender but this is a little scary! Even the After Effects part confused me, and that's something I'm familiar with! :-) One thing that confused me is that it's hard to distinguish the actual individual steps from the overall goals you're working toward, since you say EVERYTHING future tense. Solution would either be to use present tense for individuals steps (eg "now we create a mask and click here") or describe overall goals as "what we'll be doing next" or "what we're aiming to do".
RUclips has a "play at 'x' speed" button.. much rather do that than listen to four hours of "uhh, ok and then.. well... for lunch I had.. oh wait, back to the tutorial" ha ha
This is great. May i ask, if you were to parent and track his arms and emit ghost like smoke from the arms to then composite / layer back over in screen mode, would the smoke vfx layer only show what the camera sees, ie this side of his arm, or would we be seeing smoke emit from both sides of his arm (what the camera sees, and the other-side of his arm, un seen by camera)?
i added mesh deform in the arms the object is the strand, but the arms wont deform or elasticity not working the finger deform only for 1 secs it's like a glitch. already subdivided the strand or vertices.. whats wrong?
I wish the script in the beginning had josh let go of the car and the hands would retract like a tape measure but they'd come back and slap him in the face. XD
Do you hear the people sing? Singing the song of Blender-thirsty filmmakers! We've all made the donut but THIS is the stuff we really want to learn. (A lot of us are still beginners. We'd pay good money for slow, step-by-step Blender filmmaking tutorials. Can someone get on that? Or point me to it if they already exist?) In conclusion, Film Riot freakin rocks.
I used to watch film riot back in the 2010’s and Ryan’s voice hasn’t changed one bit 😂 nostalgic as hell
Now we have blender added to the tutorials, more interesting stuff on the way 😍😎
We literally just started learning Blender here as it's free! Definitely more of this please with Blender into After Effects workflows as much as you can! 😁
Oooh the 3D tutorial saga begins!! :D

That object catcher for the car kind of looked like a Tesla Cybertruck 😂
Awesome video tutorial. Thank you so much 💓.
I was wondering if you could tell me in order to make this effect, are we able to use cinema 4D? 🤔💭
