One Piece: Grand Adventure is a video game for the Sony PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube. Unlike other One Piece video games, this one was developed specifically for the US. The gameplay is exactly like One Piece: Grand Battle!. Based on the popular anime and manga series One Piece, Grand Adventure contains more characters, levels, and features, some of which were cut out of the U.S. One Piece: Grand Battle!. The game was also released in Korea, Australia, Spain, and the U.K.

Y'know something? Even after years of listening to the Funimation dub, I don't actually mind the 4Kids VAs all that much, mostly because I started out with them, so that by the time Funi took over, I learned to live with "stuffy Brooklyn" Sanji...Zoro in particular was pretty good, on that note.
I never had a problem with their VAs. 4Kids typically had solid VAs, more often than not. It was one thing they excelled at. I think the problem is their dumb editing choices. I get they would tone down harsher language, but most of their changes were simply wonky.
i like some of the 4kids voices over the funimation(zolo, arlong, shanks, robin, luffy) i like sanji's accent but not the voice, 4kids also had the catchiest intro
I think part of it was not so good voice direction and some mistranslations (most intentional, given it was censored for kids). Given a real chance and without the censoring, I think the 4kids cast could have made a decent dub.

Holy crap i forgot how awesome this game was with the mini fighters and the sick animations. This was THE one piece fighting game before Burning blood came out
I really wished they at least got to do the Enies Lobby Saga in this style. But, one can dream at this point, I suppose.

All these years later...and I'm still amazed that Zeff and Kuina ended up being playable. Also Vivi and Tashagi had to receive all new material like models and animations...that's a whole lot of effort!

This game showed me how FUCKING epic anime is, especially One Piece. That's how I got introduced to the anime world next to Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2.

This game is the reason why I don't hate the 4kids Voice Acting. When this game came out I didn't know anything about 4kids and I got used to hearing the 4kids version over the years so unlike most people I prefer 4kids dub over FUNimation.
I also had no idea what Crocodile looked like until I first played this game ;/

tagyrt It's Zoro, not Zolo. He was called Zolo in the 4kids dub but he is called Zoro in the manga.
His name is actually Zoro, but he's called Zolo in 4Kids and the manga.
You know while the 4kids dub was awful i blame it mostly on the writing. Some of these voice actors are actually pretty decent to good, alot better than in the 4kids dub. Usopp, Zoro and Eneru are ones i like. I do think the Funi dub is so much better but some of these guys are not bad.

I meant that i think the 4kids VA's do a better job in the game than in the anime, so i chock it up to the writers and directors and don't blame the actors as much for the awfulness of the dub. My original post wasn't very clear. I agree the Funimation dub is so much better, i love the Funimation dub.
AxelOwnz Yup. 4Kids voices doesn't mix a lot with the characters in question. Especially Sanji, Mihawk, Shanks, Ace, and Zoro.

Grand Battle 1-3, the Unlimited series, Gigant Battle, Pirates Carnival, the list is way bigger than you’d think actually. Heck this hame is using assets from one of the games where can kick women.

Leostar I really like that Arlong has a fishy vibe. Unlike us getting Hercule in the funimation dub haha but honestly 4kids did great with their voice cast

I think having one for Naruto or Bleach would make more sense. Naruto has the Ultimate Ninja series as a base and Bleach has the Blade of Fate game. The ultimate Ninja series has had assists since 2, the Storm series has tag ins on some games, and it’d be a good fit. It just needs a developer to make a system more suited to a straight up classic fighting game style like FighterZ. Same with Bleach. Blade of Fate has decent combos, fun movement and gameplay. ArcSys could easily adapt the Bleach series into something similar to their main Guilty Gear series.

People kept Telling me that The 4kidz dub of One piece never did Skypiea but Eneru's Presense in this Game is Proof they had every intent on Dubbing the Arc (It was Most likely planned to be the Dub's final Arc given that after Skypiea the Anime starts to get darker and More Violent) but because 4kidz entertainment Dropped the Anime they probably thought it would a good idea to simply shove their version of Skypiea in the Game also given that grand adventure has more characters then Grand battle leads me to believe this was Originally gonna be called Grand Battle 2 but they decided to make it an Action Based RPG with a Versus Mode for those who wanted a Grand battle sequel.
This is so epic to be made a decade and some ago. I love the animation style.

I love Grand Adventure. I play it regularly. I'm practically addicted to it. God, Eneru is flat out broken. In my opinion, the number one character has to be Nico Robin since she's nearly untouchable. Despite the imbalance, bugs, and ridiculously stupid, spazzy and buggy A.I.... it's still a great game mostly if you have someone to play with.

The Funi sound like its corporate and a job
The funi dub isn't bad, but it sounds too close to DBZ in some aspects. All I hear is Gohan, Piccolo, and Krillin in luffy, zorro and usopp and it's a bit off-putting at times.
@@064razor I think the funimation dub fits the tone of the anime better, especially since the Funi dub isn't censored like the 4kids one. Granted, since a lot of main characters from DBZ are part of One Piece, it can be a bit distracting, but when you compare the One Piece VA roles to their DBZ counterparts, there is a noticeable difference in tonality, attitude and inflection, it's just more nuanced than one might prefer. Plus even if the voices sound similar, you can tell that each VA is having a blast voicing their respective characters, and I'd take passionate performances over cast variety any day.

I LOVED this game, but I can see that was made during the "4kids era": no blood, no fight marks and, and this is borderline blasphemous, the marine captain is called "Chaser" instead of "Smoker" and doesn't have a cigar because "cigarettes and smoke is bad for kids" XD

I get why they changed Smoker's name, but I never understood why they changed Ace. I mean, of ALL the names in One Piece, Ace had the one that seemed by far the coolest and one of the most American. Ace is a legit cool and badass name that American kids would totally understand and gravitate to. Of all the names to change, WHY would they mess with Ace? But somehow they kept stuff like Kuroobi or even Usopp or Kuina, Tashigi, etc. 4kids actually changed very few names, to be fair. Zoro/Zolo was a translation thing, and Smoker was due to them not wanting to promote smoking (dumb, but whatevs). But ACE? Really?

i have a save file that have lvl 100 all characters at adventure mode. and rank 1 all characters at hmm forgot the name but it have a system that make you battle 5 character with big stat(big lvl) and we only using lvl 1 with base stat.

You hold down the z button when you select him on the character select screen but this is only after you defeat crocodile in the story mode.
I personally prefer the gameplay of this game over the various Pirate Warriors. Mainly because of the Specials, they give it bit more of an epic(?) feel.
