    Sherry, I’ve been so excited waiting to see all these examples and they did not disappoint. I especially appreciated you pointing out how letting each child illustrate in the style they wanted and having the time to practice art the way they preferred really helped develop their skills in illustration and art once they were older. Looking forward to seeing how the commonplace books turn out!

      Thank you for your kind words--I agree that allowing them to fiddle around without correction did factor in to their ability to develop further in their artistic skills. Not a few are today using their art and design skills to bless others.

    Thank you for the wonderful examples! I wish we would have been notebooking all along. This is my 19th year homeschooling and I feel it would be so hard to start now? We did lots of lap booking with my oldest 2 who have graduated.

      It may be a slight shift, but it also may set your children free and help them to develop different ways of approaching learning (outside of the box thinking, allowing authentic creativity to flow) before they are thrust out of your home.

    Hi Sherry, what you are showing is exactly what I am hoping to do with my children. I do have a few questions for you though. 1. Do you look over every notebooking page your children do? I'm thinking with so many children that that would be a lot to keep up with. 2. What do you do if there is a mistake in one of their pages? Maybe they spelled a word wrong or have a fragmented sentence. 3. What would you suggest for children that much prefer writing to drawing? A couple of my kids enjoy drawing, but most of them are like me and are not artistic.
    Thank you for everything you do!

      These are such great questions! 1. I get such pleasure out of reading my children's work that I make time for it :) 2. I only occasionally correct the notebooking pages. I leave learning the brass tacks of language arts to the McGuffey readers, Gentle Grammar, Harvey's Grammar, etc. 3. One dear mommy told me her children look up drawing tutorials for the things they want to include, which I think is genius. We just copied an illustration from a book or printed one from an online source (even kids who enjoy drawing will sometimes go for this option).

    Hello Sherry! Could you do a video on how you turn your drawings into digital pages and publish books on amazon? I would love to see how this is done! Love your work would love to see the whole process if possible. And thankyou for all your website freebies and all your videos on mcguffey readers, they have changed my homeschool. I am a new homeschool mum just doing grade 1 this year for the first time and have another going into kindergarten soon, and your channel is such an encouragement to me.

      I never considered doing a video on that process, especially since I don't consider myself to be an "expert," but I could show what I do know and perhaps someone more experienced could chime in and teach me a few lessons :)

    Wow your daughters are amazing artists. I can see creativity runs in the family 😊
    You mentioned a timeline, do you keep a master timeline for each child?

    • @MomDelights
      @MomDelights  3 месяца назад +1

      Actually, I've tried that a few times, and it just never fit our family. I've found our children can keep track of things pretty easily without a physical representation, but some might find that helpful.
