Not really, salaries basically matched inflation over this time. Since the 1970s, Real (inflation adjusted) median salaries never deviated my more than 10%.
From the use of mum I'm assuming you're British or Australian and you learning the American inflation rate of fast food when it's practically useless to you is hilarious to me.
There was crazy inflation in the 70s and early 80s, like more than last year for 10 years in a row. If you didn't know that, you wouldn't do well in this game. In fact, the 30-year US treasury bond reached almost 15% interest in 1982, which is crazy, that's 15% annual interest for 30 years completely risk-free.
The fact that the original KFC bucket combo came with chicken, rolls, and gravy is wild… no mashed potatoes. Were people just dunking their fried chicken in the gravy or something?
They claim inflation was only 12% in the last year, but our local food prices all went up between 50% and 100% depending on the item. I used to get a whole chicken at the grocery store for $6 last year, now it's $12. Pudding mixes that were $1 last year are $1.50 and so on. Milk was $4 a gallon last year, now it's $6. Nothing only went up 12%. Even the hardware store has been doubling its prices on just about everything.
The issue with Rhett using the inflation rate not only is the general inflation rate wont necessarily be the same for all products but the fact that the sizes are not necessarily the same as they are currently so the price in the 70s would reflect a larger size
Sometimes I think about the fast food chains around the studio and if they are used to occasionally getting orders like 50 tacos, or two of every single variety of donut at this point.
“Just remember 8.6” 15:33 ends up at 18.6 but he looks like he actually was trying so hard. No but same I completely forgot right when Rhett started calculating😅
