- So, I put out a video saying me and a few other guys were going to be playing some Daytona USA online on the PS3 at the week would anyone like to join us? The response was awesome, pretty much straight off the bat we got a full lobby of 8 players - this is only the second time I've played the game with a full lobby since it first released and the only ever time before that was within the first few weeks of it's release back in 2011. Awesome! Someone mentioned in the comments of my invitation to play video (afterwards we'd finished playing) that more players turned up than could fit in our lobby and another lobby got underway which hosted some 6 - 8 player games! Double awesome!
Man, playing with 8 players is hectic but a lot of fun. Nice as well to get to play as some of the Hornet colours you don't see all that often (black, pink, cyan and orange). I had a bit of an unfortunate habit in these games of cocking up in the final leg of a race, really annoying when you've done three quarters of the race like a champ, but still end up near the back of the back.

Another great race, looks like dino canyon is the track were the grid is more experienced.

I thought I was going to get a comfortable 3rd place and then I somehow fucked up the second to last corner and ended up coming off the track at 03:10 allowing those other 2 guys to zoom past me. I was so fucked off with myself for that. I had so many games yesterday where I nailed the first 7 laps of the Begginer and the first 3 of Dino only to fuck it up on the final one. I had one game on the Expert course where I absolutely nailed the first lap and then crashed at the start of the second lap in the underground bit like an absolute idiot before even reaching the difficult corner.
@@MrThunderwing I would recommend a couple of practice sessions in grand prix mode to get rid of that last lap culprit
TBH, I can do 4 perfect laps on this track without hassle in 1 Player normally. There's that added bit of pressure in multiplayer though, not to mention the other players jostling you about as you're trying to get that perfect line through the drifty turns after the tunnel.
Great race and good to see you got the full 8 person grid you wanted. If you ever play the Sega PC version on Daytona Deluxe or Xbox 360/One version of Daytona USA and need people on the grid we would be happy to take part.

These are so much fun to watch. The races are always relatively close and any wrong move can cost you the race. Also, are the crashing animations when you lose always the same? I ask because that flip was hella dramatic.
The crash animations change depending on your finishing position, getting slowly progressively more severe.
One day I will play with you here in Brazil.

Was supposed to gen an air filter for my car but I'll guess it will have to wait. Least I got a T150 all set up so I'll will beat all of you, besides dale thought cause he is VERY fast.

Along side with a TH8A shifter and a T3PA pedals. Honestly it's a beast for what it is! It's like a mini T300... Works on PS3, PS4, (Maybe) PS5 and PC. They have also the One version/Windows that looks slightly better tbh.

Do you know if you can play this game offline on a LAN? multiple ps3s connected on a network without internet.

@@MrThunderwing thank you for answering my question. I read that xbox supports system link/LAN, not sure which console (seems like xbox one) but can't find anything actual proof online

Not bad, I played on arcad 4 and 8 players cabinet, I always won, in fact who ever won got to play next game, (there was a long queue to play), never used the downshift to steer, always tap brake and drift on all curves (hairpin on oval) you get the best times
Luis my man, you'll get far faster times using the gears to drift than tapping the brakes. There's even a challenge on gear drifting in the PS3 game.

3:22 any idea why the time limit got reduced to 5 seconds?
Once the lead player crosses the finish line, everyone else gets 5 seconds to try and cross it too.
Also helps reduce delay between races. Be fast or be disqualified and try to finish next time.
