- Checking out the Waves Clarity VX, the first of Waves Plugin's Neural Network noise reduction tools. go.voices.com/...
Having a home studio is the goal of many freelance voice actors. After working and creating your own space, you might feel everything is in order until you sit down to record. And suddenly there are background noises you have never noticed before.
Dealing with these noises can be a headache. Ultimately, getting the room properly treated in the first place is ideal, but when that's not an option, a small amount of noise reduction may help clean up your audio.

Who's in the booth today?! Give us a wave 👋
Was just looking into NS1 and some others but now I’ll have look into Clarity Vx!
It's actually really solid! I think I'm most impressed with how transparent it is. I feel like these tools are finally becoming super usable! (also I think it's on sale right now, last I checked) -Randy
@@voices it’s like $36 on sale right now I think 👀
Steal!
Does Clarity VX work for room reverberation?
Hello Randy do you know how this compares to Nvidia RTX Voice/Broadcast that also incorporates AI for noise reduction?
I actually purchased the Clarity Vx plug in a while ago to help with ambient noise and some traffic noises, but whenever I try using it the audio turns choppy and I get a message from the recording software (GarageBand) that the bit rate is too high or my CPU can't handle the plug in basically, even when using the Broad ECO mode. Is there anything I can do to make it work or is it more of a hardware situation? My laptop is probably due for an upgrade with it being almost 10 years old now!
Looks like you explained it in your last sentence.
Interesting that even the Eco Mode is still a little too taxing. Like the other comment mentioned, it may be your machine bottle-necking. -Randy
Doesn’t work well for me, sadly. It drops portions of my VO when my inflection changes. Anyone else experience this issue?
If you're using the demo version, it will cut out randomly once in a while. The paid version shouldn't have this issue.
Oh gotcha! Thanks so much for letting me know. 😊
I have both Clarity Vx and the Vx Pro. Oddly I use the base version Vx more it's simple and effective.
Interesting! Thanks for weighing in. I was looking at it for the purpose of this video, but I felt like the tools were really geared toward video post production mixing. A little much for VO maybe? -Randy
@@voices Yes like in ADR studio applications. When I went above minimal with Vx Pro my recordings became overprocessed almost auto-tune like after rendering.
Do you find it makes the audio sound worse though? Id have thought the frequency band adjustor in the pro version would allow one to keep the high end frequencies in place better
@@silverlake973 Both Clarity models use a lot of cpu so I don't de-noise more than 51% and it's mostly to cut out room noise. Anymore than that and the last syllable in a sentence will sound auto-tuned.
it cost $40 btw
I believe thats the sale price right? I know Waves also usually has an unbeatable Black Friday sale! :) -Randy
