I just put one in a 2003 Pontiac sunfire. The only thing is the display is hard to see in sunlight. Everything else is great the phone feature works great and so does the satellite radio.
In the very beginning of the video, the trim piece is on upside down. If you flip it around, you notice that all the grooves, and insets on the trim line up with the stereo faceplate. Might want to add an annotation.
Decent review. Not everyone uses Apple products, Android has 80% of the worldwide smartphone market (54% in the US). You only quickly mentioned Android compatibility once. Many companies still tend to ignore Android compatibility, it would have been good if you mentioned how well this product worked when using an Android device.

You say that this Kenwood plays FM US-bands aswell as European. That is very nice, however in Europe Kenwood sells the DPX405BT instead of DPX500BT. It's slightly different but also a great stereo! I have one in my own car. :)

What did you mean about the EQ and no bars? I have the KDC765HD and it shows some kind of Bar you can adjust, it's a pain in the Ass and confusing but it has a bar type display. I hate how it's an Equlizer and not just a simple adjust the BASS and Treble like the older radios just make it simple you are driving in your car Not watching a Action Movie or getting lost in the music, you have to concentrate on your driving and a radio that requires a lot of button pushing is too much of a distraction, a lot like texting while driving. Even the older radios where you would hit the Aud Button and the turn the knob to select BASS or Treble or Fader or Balance are a distraction. On the stock radio in my car it had 2 combo knobs one for BASS when it's in it's normal position and FADER when you pull it out the other knob is for Treble and Balance. JVC has a feature called Easy Audio or something where you can put it in a mode that you can just adjust the BASS MID and TREBLE or in advanced mode where you have the EQ Controls.

yea all good, but I can't get most stations because there's no fine tuning manual button! only scans and bypasses all but the clearest stations in the area???
I just purchased this unit and am awaiting delivery. I now know (thanks to you!) there's a separate unit to be purchased from Sirius/XM (SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner)to get that to function. My question now is; would you suggest 2 separate amps for the sub-woofer AND the other speakers as well? Or, could I let the radio itself drive the speakers and just go with an amp for the sub-woofer? Thanx in advance!!!

I just ordered this unit along with the SiriusXM tuner. Yes, you can use your steering wheel controls if you get the interface for it. A good one, according to reviews, is the "Metra ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface" (see axxessinterfaces.com or www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B4PJC9K/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for info). I ordered it so I will let u know how it works.
What makes the pioneer better in your opinion? I haven't seen the kenwood first hand but the pioneer looked to over the top space ship like for my truck.(I'm only upgrading so I can listen to audio books and music from my android phone.... But the Kenwood is more $$ Any other recommendations?

LOL, did u not catch that the trim ring is upside down?! Man just look at how the molding lines up. The toyota trim ring looks amazing upon proper install in the proper vehicle, toyota 20mm opening. Looks far superior to any metra or other install kit.
Hi, How big of a USB drive can you use ? I have a 16GB with 14GB on and it seems to work ok. I can get it to play each song with a folder at Random but I can`t seem to play the whole USB Drive at Random. Is it possible to play the who USB Drive at Random ? or just folders ? Thanks
The display is so dim that I can't see it in daytime even turned all the way up. How the heck do you manually change the channels instead of the presets and auto searching? I am usually very good at figuring this stuff out but this is frustrating.

Light weight electrical components is not usually a good thing on stereos. Usually the heavier the better quality components inside.

It has Bluetooth recognition right? Does it reconnect moderately fast or does it take some time to reconnect?
when driving at night does it dim when you tern on your headlights or just stay very bright and can you stay on 1 colour with it not flashing about?

try messing with the colors. I use green. you can also turn off the dimmer.

things I dislike is the sound features IE..... pandora is blue tooth through the phone which plays only through front speakers ughhhhh.
There is a setting for Bluetooth that allows for all 4 speakers to play. For some reason the factory default if front speakers only.
If you have a iPhone pandora plays only through USB not Bluetooth, same with other apps
