Fluxion has a RUclips presence in the Tube Amp DIY circles. His channel is very informative and he appears to be a straight shooter. It was enjoyable to see your Take on his product.
Hello jay ex audiophile here from the Uk 53 years old. I watch all your videos nice to see some one young into the race of hifi performance and reaching audio nirvana. I was extremely lucky I had a dad who was an electrician and radio ham and used to build his own valve amps with British bva valves he designed and built them from scratch I had five made for me. I was very lucky with gear that was so great nothing you can get now valve wise was as good as mine. To me these amps your playing with are all toys lol I had a kilowatt valve amp in push pull using tt21 tubes not a joke powered the nightclub that’s just one ☝️
Capacitors, especially in the signal path do change the sound significantly. I've listened to about 40 different ones. Stay with copper wiring, rather than silver or silver plated. These are a couple of things I learned over years and a few hundred hours of experimenting.
Cool review man. I like seeing how some of the "little guys" can compete and it's definitely another feather in your cap. I don't see anyone really doing this.
I own the Bl-2B Fluxion pre-amp. I love it with my Kenwood mono- blocks. Young Ahn is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Thanks Jay for featuring his product.
Mr.Young is 1 awesome Guy ! I have talked to him many times He is a purest at heart and he likes 'Single ended triode ' low voltage but dam the gorgeously Dense tonality and Texture of instruments sound can be addictive ! These set amps tubes can last a lonnnnnng time ' I just wonder how your JBL L-300s would of sound with this amp Espically rated @ 93db Thanks Jay Mr Young has a utube channel !!!!
Yes, Mr. Young doesn't believe in boutique caps or tubes. Even though he posted you can customize what you like, but he has his own principal or design he likes to stick to.
Pros: tube rectifier, single-ended final stage (probably the most significant factor for the sound character of this amp), 6SN7 are great front-end tubes, decent build quality. Cons: cheap metalized (MKP, yellow) coupling caps, not vintage 6SN7, KT-88 finals with bias test point but no (?!) bias adjustment. Change the yellow caps to REL-CAP RT-series (~$10 each, what a great value!) or if you're really cheap try Dayton Audio film (not metalized!!!) caps and then put to good use two vintage 6SN7 from your stash and you'll be one step ahead. If you're picky, add a strip of Blu-Tak (or any museum wax) to the coupling caps to dampen vibrations, a standard purist audiophile technique that I'm sure the designer wouldn't agree with but it costs next to nothing so why not try for yourself... Regarding "beautiful wiring", 90 degree bends mean longer wires (usually not optimal) and zip-tied bundles can have more cross-talk than loosely-spaced wiring. I'l take better sound vs better looks any day!
I have the fluxion b-3a integrated amp. It has 2 6c33c power tubes as well as 2 6sn7 tubes. I have it powering a set of altec lansing model 17 speakers and i think it sounds amazing.
ah yes, Fluxion...and Mr. Ahn! I have been following him for a long time n YT! Plus talked to him about potential tube amp set ups. I need to purchase one of his units! His amps maybe a better cost to value ratio proposition over waiting 9 years for a Decware amp. I'd love it. I love shooting my old film cameras with no focus patch that only use zone focusing. Big 6x9 negatives that give me the same resolution of my D7200. Wish I could afford it.
Thanks for another fantastic review, Jay. I’ve been a subscriber of Young Ahn’s channel for years. Does he provide you with specs besides power ratings? Like input impedance, if someone wanted to add a preamp to the amp for more inputs or added gain, etc.? I like the idea of buying from the designer / owner of the co. I think I’d likely change out some of those parts if nothing more than for peace of mind though….lol. It sounds like this amp would likely work well with my Pendragons, especially if a 300B amp sounds very nice. Thanks again, Jay. 🔊😊🎶
Yes he provides many specs and you can check them out on his listings or email him. He also will oblige to go with component brands of your choosing if you so desire even if he doesn’t believe it makes a difference
Looks good but it could be great that is - I’d swap the volume knob, feet, banana plug binding posts/ terminals with something with more heft - copper plated etc , add a input source mode selector box so I can add my sources to it and switch between them from the one RCA cable and you’re already to go. A couple little tweaks nothing major and pretty simple to do 😊
Sold me. Building a system this will fit nicely in. Clicked the link, not seeing any option to purchase this unit. Do I have to wait until he builds one and hope I'm first to grab it?

Yes. 30 watts should do it. If you want rocking volume levels and amazing bass control, that’s not what you get the r800i for. Especially with the concept 300
@@chrisgrillo579 The 300s are 84db efficient. That means they reach 84db at 1 watt at 1 meter roughly 3 feet away. You listen at around 65-85db. 80db is your average alarm clock and 90db is the sound level of power tools. At 32 watts you get 99db. That's a rock concert. And you still have 16 watts of headroom. To get to 102db you need 64 watts. And to get to 105db you need 128 watts. Usually small speakers max out at 105-110db then they don't go any louder by physics and design. So fuck yea that r800i 805 will get all the power you need.

I live near innovative Audio in Vancouver. The Tech there decided to start building tube amps. And the one button power amp he came up with was $1,000. About half the size as the one shown here. In the 1970's, people spent on average $3,000 towards a stereo. And to put it in perspective as compared to other hobbies people have, tuning a car/truck is a far more expensive Hobby.
Bro, I love your channel and everything but this time you talk so much in such a weird way that I've got a headache. Congratulations! It's the first time:) I also assume that it wasn't raining on your head before this review and for some reason you couldn't wash your hair. I know that nobody writes comments like this abouy audio and that's why you should block me immediately! Haha You bet that engineer knows what he is doing, way better than us and he is also in Canada but his head is not wet.. hmm ;) That's interesting Indeed this comment is about the speakers and nothing else, smooth and liquid sound, yes. I liked your Fender T-shirt on last video. I have very similar one with the guitar but where did you got that one? Don't try any excuses, they will be fatal or futile. I'm not Canadian, I don't know the difference, sorry for my English haha
I would have spent the $1,000 on a variety of music. You already gave at least one amplifier and least one pair of speakers and special liquid N2 cooled cables and graphite reinforced titanium speaker stand spikes and NASA space shuttle designed power conditioners. You need to add to the 4 CDs in your library of music. Broaden the artistic and musical pallet my friend. 😁
Inferior is a subjective term if you’re going by sound quality. I’ve heard tube amps using “inferior” capacitors that sound better than those expensive audiophille capacitors. That being said, the best capacitor I’ve ever heard in a tube amp is ultra expensive Duelund.😁
I can't hear the sound you are describing, why don't you switch on and let's listen to it, even if this is in youtube we can still hear the difference if it's true what you are saying.
Jay can u review a cheap Chinese amp from China Hi Fi... Some ov us have a family, car mortgage... My amp cost 289gbp and sounds great... Really great.... 1000 gbp Fluxion is xpensive
His curcuits are good but the ground wireing is a mess like a plate of spaghetti tag strips are running to ground along with the ground wires one bad cold solder joint now you have a ground loop the componits are or very poor quality looks great on the outside but a mess on the inside all his amps are built like this I have. Reworked three of his amps not impressed with his workmanship
Quality as Chi-fi...The switches gives this away .. Not very convincing ...He claims he can ''revive '' dead 300 B tubes ,his video is to say the least, suspicious ...
I dont like the "from my understanding" part. To me that sounds more like "this information is not verified and therefore I cant guarantee anything" Otherwise this unit sounds to be mindblowing and a steal.
After clicking on the Audio Mart link above for Fluxion Audio, I don't understand what the retail distribution strategy is for Fluxion. The products listed on the Audio Mart link are specified in condition 9, which is slightly used. Is this guy really interested in selling new amps? WTF?
You should never treat integrated amps as a power amp. Adding another pre would be equivalent to running 2 pre-amps in your system. It will yield in a worst dynamic range, noise and sound almost every time

This is cool. If the positive post is silver, that's better I think from a conducting standpoint.

I have very similar one with the guitar but where did you got that one? Don't try any excuses, they will be fatal or futile. I'm not Canadian, I don't know the difference, sorry for my English haha
I washed my hair. It’s just very long and I need a hair cut bad 😂
Funny you should say Jay's way of talking gave you a headache, when trying to.make sense of your post had that very effect on me...
You tested Willsenton R8 already. Is it better than wellsenton R8 (looks and features no comparison)?

I would have spent the $1,000 on a variety of music.
You already gave at least one amplifier and least one pair of speakers and special liquid N2 cooled cables and graphite reinforced titanium speaker stand spikes and NASA space shuttle designed power conditioners.
You need to add to the 4 CDs in your library of music.
Broaden the artistic and musical pallet my friend.
😁
Jay, like your reviews. But this time too many repetitive thoughts. Keep em coming.
My SANSUI AU 717 SPECIAL would slap the knobs off that valve amplifier all night long 🌚
that looks like a Fluxion Audio Amp
Only one input is a turn off as is only one level of speaker impedance.
His YT channel shows the use of inferior capacitors which I cannot agree with
Inferior is a subjective term if you’re going by sound quality. I’ve heard tube amps using “inferior” capacitors that sound better than those expensive audiophille capacitors. That being said, the best capacitor I’ve ever heard in a tube amp is ultra expensive Duelund.😁
Will you let the viewers here how it sound?
All the hot air from Trudeau !
Which politician do you prefer?
All the fake suntan from Agent Orange😢
Did you actually steal it 😂
I can't hear the sound you are describing, why don't you switch on and let's listen to it, even if this is in youtube we can still hear the difference if it's true what you are saying.
That’s not how it works, that’s not how any of this works. 😂
Yes They stole your money ! really though you just threw it away !
F.Y.I. your KT-88's are Winged C not Tung Sol.
NOT TUNG-SOL, SVETLANA tubes.
Quality as Chi-fi...The switches gives this away .. Not very convincing ...He claims he can ''revive '' dead 300 B tubes ,his video is to say the least, suspicious ...
Garage made hodge podge
No.....as a tube enthusiast and experimenter that would be me...!! LoL..
I dont like the "from my understanding" part. To me that sounds more like "this information is not verified and therefore I cant guarantee anything" Otherwise this unit sounds to be mindblowing and a steal.
Mr Young
Looks Old...😅
And you have the humor of a yeast infection.
After clicking on the Audio Mart link above for Fluxion Audio, I don't understand what the retail distribution strategy is for Fluxion. The products listed on the Audio Mart link are specified in condition 9, which is slightly used. Is this guy really interested in selling new amps? WTF?
It seems that in less than a day, its pricing has changed, all I can see are amps that are at $1850, $1750 and $2350.
Price didn’t change from what I know. K-5 model is still $1300 cad. Again, you have to email him for models not listed for sale
Complicated
FIRST MAYBE??!!!
Are you forgetting something totally obvious?? Treat this as a power amp and use a passive or active pre DHOOOO!!! You're not thinking Jay??????
You should never treat integrated amps as a power amp. Adding another pre would be equivalent to running 2 pre-amps in your system. It will yield in a worst dynamic range, noise and sound almost every time
Will it drive my Apogee Scintillas?😸
