@@DakTirCue i actually like that lo fi vibe in any recording. It just adds another layer and makes it more interesting to me. But i can absolutely see why people wouldnt like that.

I thought the same thing with Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats last album. I guess it's the 'new' thing. I hated it at first, but after many listens, purchased it.

In an age where everyone just downloads music for free, there are some bands where you just got to go out and buy their CD. Red Fang is one of those bands.

I think this is their most experimental album. Every next time I listen I like it more.
Everyone's real pissy about the mix. Reminds me of Mastodon's remission but it's probably a hats off towards 90's stoner rock. It's rough, unforgiving and the bass is absolute balls
the mix is fine but the master is weird. like qotsa's era vulgaris, it's kinda polarizing. i thought that the mixing was just for the music video [rabbits in hives] as a gimmick of them being buried 6 feet underground, but i guess that's just the vibe i guess. tbh all it'd take is a little bit of treble crank for me to love it but that's just on first listen. it sounds like there's a tube low-pass filter over everything, or the entire mix was passed through a tube amp with speakers. listening through the album though, my ears have adjusted to it, but i'm particular to treble so it's still a little off-putting.
The mix is a bit unexpected and experimental, and honestly it's kind of a risky choice to make. However, I have been enjoying it. I like the fuzzy overly distorted bass too, kvlt as fuck 🤣

This is the first album of theirs that I've actually liked. Dark, noisy, abrasive, both discordant and melodic at times. Big Melvins influence, far more daring and experimental, they're not afraid to take chances rather than pumping out "stoner-by-numbers". Liking the gritty production, the rawness adds a lot for me in terms of immediacy. First album of theirs that's been a keeper for me. Keep 'em coming like this.
Great album. The mix is very rough, but I think it adds to the raw aesthetic of the album. I'm digging it, very apocalyptic.

I like how the mix is the complete opposite of today's standard sounding. It's warm, ugly, not overly processed at all, but it has balls and personnality !

after multiple listens: THIS IS THEIR BEST ALBUM EVER! the sound is perfect, suits the music and makes me long for the golden age of alternative rock. the sound of the bass guitar on this record is insane! HAILS!!!!
I feel thats what people are trippin on. I fell like the bass is the main distortion on this record and the guitars are kind of tucked back more. Drums are more roomy sounding.
After multiple listenings, no this is by far NOT their best album.
Anyway time will tell. Come back to here in 2023 and you will see this album would not age well.

@@melchizedekful It's 2023, and I'm here to say this album actually aged great! I was initially put off by mastering sounding like they're playing inside a cardboard box. But after coming back to it recently, I LOVE it! It's grimy af and fits the vibe perfectly. It doesn't sound like anything else out there. As another commenter pointed out, the *mix* is actually quite good -- you've just gotta embrace the aesthetic!

Overtime this has become my favorite record yet. I have been a fan since they were opening act on tour with Mastodon right when their first record dropped. That bass tone is SOOO great!!
Everyone's flaming about the mix, but honestly I really like it. I'm not a fan of the super clean sound most bands use now and I love the dirty punk and grunge vibes. Also the melodies are really catchy and this album set the perfect athmosphere for finishing my book. Kind of apocalyptic but melancholic.
I have no problem with the mix either, then again I like a lot of raw bedroom black metal that sounds like it was recorded in a shack on the Siberian taiga

I needed this record. Super dark and good for the soul. I would challenge these dorks complaining about the sound to produce a single song they have written that's half as good as anything on Arrows.

If anyone is questioning the production value of this album by listening to this youtube version alone, you should buy the official album and hear the difference in quality. This band was badass enough to stream their album not knowing that alot of fans can afford tickets or music in these trying times, so this just made the wait for this album worth it for alot of fans. Convinced me to buy my tickets or this october.
I have this digitally and on cd and vinyl. The production isn't that great. Especially compared to their previous albums. Unreal Estate sounds like it was recorded on someone's phone.

We better go back into the studio and do an entire remix of the album so we can please this one guy!" The album itself is fine. I can like the album but think the production is bad. Red Fang thought the mix was good enough to release and good on them. It doesn't mean I need to agree with them.

I agree. Sounds like they recorded it with a smelly wool sock over the mike, in an aluminum can. I get distortion and all that, but I think it needs to be cleaned up a little.
Its not great mixing at all sadly. Really compressed sound and quiet.such a shame as musically its pretty darn interesting. All mids boosted. And nowt top or bottom end.
The mix really is bad. A thousand times worse than any of their other albums

Does anyone else hear like a uh....I dunno. A low quality to this recording? Music is great, Red Fang for life, that's not my point. It seems like it was recorded wrong or something. Like an intern fucked with the gains and compressors before they took it to album. If I'm alone in this lemme know, but you listen to Wires or Prehistoric Dog with headphones, then listen to Arrows. There is like a brick wall compressor laid on the max gain that is preventing my headbanging from reaching the stratosphere. Anyone else think this album is recorded....I dunno. Quiet?

You're not the only person who thinks this man. In fact it's the most commonly bitched about aspect of the album. I kinda like it but I can see why people are a bit averse to it. Definitely a risky move for the band to make.

i feel you. I love it so far, but I fuckd around with the EQ settings, turned up the bass, and certain highs. very nice that way
@@bobdole7451 The vinyl sounds like this too. I think they might've either messed up the mastering process or they did it on purpose for some songs. Because Why and Days Collide actually sound pretty good imo.

Das ALBUM KAUFEN! und sich zuhause auf der eigenen Stereoanlage anhören mit vernünftigen 3 Wege Boxen und dann nochmal bewerten. Das ist so lächerlich was hier so geschrieben steht über Ästhetik und all der seltsame Stuff. Ein Künstler hat niemenden außer sich selbst zu Befriedigen und wenn das ein 96er upload ist odr 128k drauf geschissen. KAUFEN. DAS ALBUM KAUFEN der Band die Möglichkeiten ermöglichen selbst mit und davon zu leben und den Fans das Teil Live um die Ohren zu Prügeln. Klingt schön rauh und unpolliert. the mix is one of the worst Ive heard from a modern rock band.. its just terrible.. I'm streaming Ultra HD on Amazon ...Flac files .. and its driving me fucking nuts how bad the production/mastering is.. holy shit.. remix and remaster it indeed! It sounds like a shitty Limewire mp3 ..

WTF? Even the download version sounds like it was mastered on a Panasonic 8 track. Really like RF’s tunes and I get lo-fi and such but…it’s really a shame these solid tunes have to sound like garbage. Shame on you Relapse for letting this fly.
