Many people, mostly uneducated ones, guess that our name Slavs is from the word slave, that we were slaves in ancient times, but this is not true...It's because of the word "Slava (Sláva)" which means "Glory" in most, if not all Slavic languages...greetings from Slovakia

    • @boriskrestev3730
      @boriskrestev3730 6 лет назад +238

I believe it comes from "slovo", meaning speech or language, because slavs understood eachother's languages. Similar to that, germans are often called "nemci" in some slavic languages, meaning mute, because their language was unfamiliar to the slavs.

Vesko Filipov and Boris Krestev , You are both right. We, in Serbia, have a family holiday called "Krsna Slava" - in the name of a saint, a protector of the family. (Saint George, Saint Andrew, Saint Nicolas, ...). We use both forms of the term Slavs: Sloveni - they speak like us. Slaveni (Slava) - famous.

", it is old slavic tribes tradition to start war in the comments" slavic tribes are no longer exist Katya and modern "slavs" are just different nations which belong to completely different ethnic groups and even different races. There is no reason to love each other and be sentimental. We have nothing in common, the Slavs in our time is just a language group and nothing more. We are not related and have no common origin. We have no need to unite and everyone only for himself and his own kind.
As an example, Czechs and Bosnians are people of completely different ethnic background who, even purely outwardly, are very different from each other, etc. Only an complete idiot can think that they have a common origin or something in common.
There have never been any "Slavic alliances" in all history. Pan-Slavism is an anti-Russian nonsense of the 19th century that has brought countless problems to Russia. Look at the modern shitkraine and poo-land. Disgusting. Fuck them.

" я, конечно понимаю вашу точку зрения на возможное различие между этническими и лингвистическими группами,"; не понимаешь, я описал о том что так называемые славяне друг другу не родственники по крови, современные славяне это просто языковая группа и ничего больше. Поэтому нет никаких мифических братств и союзов, это к вопросу о "it seems like, it is old slavic tribes tradition to start war in the comments" - нечего удивительно с учетом того что мы не имеем ничего общего друг с другом с точки зрения крови.

Admiral Kongo look, rape is higly punishable in Islam. and by that i mean in real Islam, doesn't even matter if its ur wife if she says no and you still do it its still rape, there is a verse in Qur'an which states if you kill one person, on the day of judgment you will be punished as if you killed whole human race. its basically a ticket to deepest parts of djehennem (hell) and most of the time they just converted churches to mosques, why you ask? well... no one was usimg them anyway, if even says in Qur'an that you can pray in church and sinnagoge if there is no mosques nearby, most of the time it was kept to its original and there was just few things added to help muslims pray, and to signify it is a mosque, many designs of mosques and churches are similar in a sense.

The ancient Solar Dynasty issued many ruling dynasties recruiting from their Kšatria clans.
The Polish Piast dynasty was named after the title of the Solar Dynasties chief of ceremony - Piast (the Hub's Master). Also the ritual hats were called Piasta (The Hub or Cosmic Hub) and the Hellenes called them Polos.
The most ancient Kšatriya clans were Dunin (Tuatha Dé Danann), Druk-Drak-Krak-Kač (Dragon), Gryf (Świeboda - Griphon (Freedom))… - they were ca. 4000 years old, but most of the medieval Polish noble clans originated from Sarmatians - the veterans who returned to Pontic Steppe after sacking the despotic Nineveh in 612 BC.
From them also the White Serbs and the White Croats developed, who migrated west supporting their Venetian kinsmen decimated by Germanic, Roman and Hunnic raids. Their northern neighbours were known as Polans and Drevlyans. Since they were called Slavs, which is for parasite Germanic tribes also a synonym for slaves.
The selfdesignation Słowianie/Slaviany (the keepers of the words - the worshippers) comes from słowo/slovo (word) used for worship (sławienie), e.g. the celebration/spreading of sława (glory, fame).

The fake "history" of "Germany" starts with Armeniuš ("Hermann") the son of Siecimir ("Segimer"), son-in-law of Sieciech (Secestus) and father of Tumélec (Thumelicus) - all Slavic names most related to fishing, Armeniuš pointing to his Aryan ancestry from Speri (Colchis, Armenia, Sasperia) and to the Solar Dynasty Spyra of Spira, Spyrgowa (Spyrgovia).
Armeniuš himself was executed by his own Aryan-Venetic family after an attempt to use Androphagi (Germanic) auxiliaries against Roman invaders. This cruel jet effective tradition of executing rulers who were acting against the nation or the sacred traditions (here: close relations to invading cannibals - Germanic tribes) were practiced among all Indo-European communities. The Popiel/Popel dynasty (later known as Lobkowicz, von Lobkowitz) of the early 9th century who not only pacted with the Androphagi (Germans) but also poisoned the parliament assembly were expelled and replaced by the Piast dynasty. Currently Androphagi have their embassy at Lobkowicz castle in Praha (Prague). Similarly Władysław II High Duke of Poland was exiled but returned as traitor and agent supported by the Androphagi Frederick Barbarossa. The Androphagi performed "Wendish Crusades" turning the Christian Polish fief - the Principality of Kopnik, Kopanica and Branibor of Iakša Gryfita (Jaxa of Köpenick) into German latifundia ("Brandenburg") and later into "Prussian" and "German" capital of terror - "Berlin".

We can fight al day on RUclips, but the truth is that we are weak when we are separate and we get weaker when we fight each other.
Every time when I watch RUclips videos about something that has to do with the Balkans, there is a fight in the comments between ethnicities.
Other countries like America, Russia and muslim states love to see us fighting, so they can get advantage of us.
What has happened in the history, has happened and we should not forget it, but we also have to look into the future. If we want to survive as Slavs, we have to unite or at least establish good and strong relations with each other. Greetings from Bulgaria.

Duke Mieszko I was called "King of Vends" and "King of Vandals".
King Boleslaw the Great was called "Regnum Sclavorum, Gothorum sive Polonorum" (King of Sclavens, Goths, Poles)
German chronicles say that Vandals had same language and culture as Polanians and Czechs.
German nation was formed thanks to the Franks counqests. Before the Franks, whole east of Europe to Rhein river was Slavic and Celtic.
    Vandals/Vindils = Vends/Venedians = Venetians.
Even north-west italian province "Bologne/Bolonia" has same name
as ancient Polonia (also known in historical sources from VIII century as BOLONIA, BOLONA).
And next to the nowadays Venetia we have... Slovenia.
German Pommerania in the past was known as Venetia/Venedia.
And there was a city called VINETA and it's on the same line as Italian Venetia ;)
In the antiquity Venetia (Adriatic Sea) was under the influence of Latin (Roman) culture ,
and their culture was latinized in next generations. Even today italian Venetians feel different
    than rest of Italy. ;)
Whole eastern tribes called today as "GERMANIC" were slavic.
There were nothing like "german culture" before division of the Frank Empire in Verdum.
The term "Germania" is roman name for a geographic region. What's more,
Roman Historians distinguished perfectly culture and language of people of "Germania"
with culture and language of Nordic people (Teutons). In antiquity all germanic tribes were celtic of slavic.
*French Nation* - "germanized" (nordic culture) celtic tribes.
*German Nation* (Deutsch) - "germananized" germanic tribes (mostly Slavs)
*Austrian Nation* - "germanized" Caranthanians (slavic tribe)
and even Hungarian Nation - magyarized Pannonian Slavs (nowadays Slovaks who were not magyarized).
The history was different as we thought.
And I don't care about out-dated historical "studies" and "treatise".
Read ancient sources, read modern genetic genealogy research results,
read modern independent Geologists and archeologists research results,
and compare it with out-dated historical books. :))

In Slovenia were Academic Matej Bor, Jože Šavli and Tomažič, who have made research about Veneto tribe in north east Italy. Of course are inscriptions from old Roman times latinized, but some 200 years older inscriptionsare stillin Veneto language. And some tablet (Tablets no. 23 and 24 from Este museum) have words of old SLovenian origins.Tablet 23 is for learning alphabet. For root word was used EKA with letters as suffix. SOme words arestill in use in nowadays Slovene. Jekat, jekam etc. It means moaning.
One inscription is osti jarej - it means stay young. Osti is short of ostani - stay, jarej is a little bit old word for word young. But it is sitll in use as jara or jarka means young chicken or adjective for grain, which grow up in the same year. But yeah, for Italian sholars old Venetian language is Italic and Etrusco language is not origin founded.

I call bullshit. Slavs are much older than this, and have had a decentralized state spreading from Spain to the Ural mountains for thousands of years before this.
Haplogroups I2 and R1a mixed around 6,000 BC and formed a single group of people who all spoke the same language and worshiped the same gods, which all Slavs still remember today.
Haplogroup R1 invaded India around 3,000 BC and spread their language. This is why Sanskrit is so similar to Slavic languages.
Later, around 1,000 BC, settled in Italy to found the early Roman state. The Latin language also comes from this proto-Slavic language.
    Enough with Germanic propaganda!

@Jordan & Jordan and how it happened that the Bulgarians, who are Turks according to the haters, created the first state with a Slavic-speaking population as early as 681, were the first to have their own Slavic script among all Slavic tribes, were the first to adopt Christianity as the state religion among all Slavic-speaking peoples and were the first to serve in their churches in the Slavic language?
Let us add to this facts that the Bulgarians were a warlike people and no one could force them to speak a language that is not their mother tongue ...

Viatichi and Radimichi came from Poland, lead by their leaders Viatko and Radim, according to the chronicle of Nestor. This is perhaps only source about their origin. How they became East Slavs, occupying originally Finnish territories? Same for Novgorod (New Town) people. They were West Slavs (namely Obodrites from Stargorod (Old Town, now Oldenburg in Germany)), who established their colony in Finnish lands. This event was recorded in chronicles and supported by the analysis of their birch bark manuscripts done by Russian scholars.

    • @isadanjan4762
      @isadanjan4762 3 года назад

      1) the Radimichi did not occupy the lands of the original Finnish territories, and the Vyatichi were located next to the Balts (Goliad), only the northeast (further from Moscow) was inhabited by the Finnish tribe Merya, Meschera. According to genetic data, central Russia up to the north Yaroslavl and Vologda region is not a region with a Finno-Ugric layer, which could result from the assimilation of the Finnish peoples, unlike the same lands where the tribes of the Ilmen Slovenes were located.
upd: Vyatichi were not only in central Russia, but were also located in the south(partly) to the Oryol region.

Byzantine emperor Heraclius in the 7th century invited White Croats from White Croatia ( modern day south- eastern Poland and western Ukraine) to settle in roman provinces of Pannonia and Dalmatia. Part of Croats settled in roman provinces and other part of Croats remained in their old homeland in White Croatia.

I do not think there would be much genetic difference between various Slavic tribes in the Middle Ages. Even today's genetic difference is mainly due to intermixing with various non-Slavic groups.
Also there were numerous Slavic tribes before they coaleced into larger people groups. Just in Bohemia, where I live, there were about a dosen tribes, Czechs being one of them. I live in a town upon the Elbe River which was a kind of boundary between the tribe of Czechs and the tribe of Psovans.

Expanding on the South which may cause a flame war.
Serbs used to call them selves Rašani after the river Rascia/Raša.
The name Serbs was given to them by Byzanthians who called them that way because of them wearing a kind of footwear commonly used by servants within Byzanth.
The core of their early medeival kingdom lied in modern day Montenegro, Kosovo and Southern Serbia only having moved in north during the 16th and 17th century.
Many of their historical records have been lost both due to Ottoman conquests and a commonly held practice put in place by the Serbian kings that dissuaded literacy for ensuring their ease of rule over the area.
The Neretvians are a sepparate Slavic tribe that inhabited the surroundings of the river Neretva in modern day Croatia and Bosnia.
They had their own principality/dutchy until they were absorbed by Croats and Serbs.
Croats conquered and inhabited the areas of the Roman province of Dalmatia, Panonia Major/Minor with records of them being found as far east as Sirmium (Srijem), far south at Spalatium (Split) and Trastica (Trsat - Rijeka) in the west.
Their Northen Expansion remains blurry but with how common the surname Horvat(Croat) is within Hungary there is reason to believe that they had sizable comunes north of the river Drava.
Records of them having inhabited large parts of western Bosnia exist but any records pretaining to the borders and land administration of these areas have been lost due to Ottoman conquests (the most likely border area however seems to have been the river Vrbas and the Kupres mountains).
Istria did not have a large defined Croatian community until the 14th century, and their inland inhabitants were an amorphous group of Slavic villagers commonly plying the trades of Carpentry, rearing cattle and tending to vineyards.
North-Eastern Italy or specifically the continental region arround Venice was also inhabited by invading Slavs who were sucessfully assimilated by the Venetians.
The first recorded incursions of Slavs into the Balkan areas show them having established their own rule all the way to the city of Athens.
Records show that a ruling figure, bearing a surname named after the Slavic god of War and Thunder Perun, was also crucial in their negotiation with the native Greek population who at the time took refuge on the island of Krete and Byzanthian authorities leading to their eventual assimilation into the Greek populus.

      >Serbs used to call them selves Rašani after the river Rascia/Raša.
No such thing. The Rascian name came from the Ras fortress. There is no Rascia river...
      >The name Serbs was given to them by Byzanthians who called them that way because of them wearing a kind of footwear commonly used by servants within Byzanth.
Serbs brought that name with them and the whole Serb/Serv shit is simple: Greek doesn't have the letter "b" as there is in English. Their beta (β) is pronounced like an English "v". Thus Serbia becomes Servia to the Greeks and because Serbs are in the Byzantine zone, it becomes Servia to the rest of the world.
      >The core of their early medeival kingdom lied in modern day Montenegro, Kosovo and Southern Serbia only having moved in north during the 16th and 17th century.
It's pretty disingenuous to pretend Serbs only expanded westward that late, with all Serbian tribes littering Dalmatia.
"according to Einhard's Royal Frankish Annals, written in 822, Ljudevit went from his seat at Sisak to the Serbs (believed to have been somewhere in western Bosnia), with Einhard mentioning "*the Serbs, who control the greater part of Dalmatia*" (ad Sorabos, quae natio magnam Dalmatiae partem obtinere dicitur)."
According to Einhard, Serbs controlled most of Dalmatia in the 800s already.
      >The Neretvians are a sepparate Slavic tribe that inhabited the surroundings of the river Neretva in modern day Croatia and Bosnia.
They had their own principality/dutchy until they were absorbed by Croats and Serbs.
"The DAI speaks of the Narentines as descended from the "unbaptized Serbs" that settled Dalmatia under the protection of Byzantine Emperor Heraclius (r. 610-641)"
"The DAI mentions that the Narentines were called "pagans, because they did not accept baptism in the time when all Serbs were baptized", which is placed during Basil's rule."
Sure about the rest, idk about the extent of Croats in Bosnia.

The area you talk about re the first Slavs was actually inhabited by the Balts (the "corded culture") for hundreds of years at least prior to the arrival of the Slavs. (I am part Polish and Balt.) Because the Balts were pagan, the Christian Slavs joined with the Pope in his crusade against them, helped immensely by the German Teutonic knights. Took them a hundred years though.

I think that Slavism is not of ethnic origin. To the east of Kievan Rus', Finnish and Turkish were spoken. All genetic studies show that Bulgarians are descendants of a population that lived in the Balkans during the Stone Age. But both Russians and Bulgarians speak Slavic languages.
    Slavism is a cultural-linguistic group.

Not sure, but I can bet my ass that a lot of our history is hidden from us. First when Turks got the Condtantinopole god knows what they took, also who knows what is in Vaticans archives and of course Vienna since if I'm not mistaken it was one of the biggest historical centers of it's time. Somewhere deeply in those archives ( or God forbid burned ) are all the answers to your question probably.

What slavs ? Are you kidding me. Slavs in Iran's you are soo mistaken. Proto-Bulgarian are from Iran. There were some slav tribes around when Bulgars came. That moved 600 AD, there are very little roman archives mentioning the Slavs to the north of the Roman Empire.

      a) They had different names, such as Scythians or Sarmatians.
      b) Did the Greeks and Romans write about Scandinavians? Herodotus map fails to show Scandinavians. They must not have existed.
      c) The Greeks and Romans are credited for having more knowledge than they did.
      d) Religions performed a lot of historical cleansing. Who were the real Prussians? Not the "German" Prussians that you're told about... and that's somewhat recent history. Good luck getting the real truth from 2000+ years ago.
      e) Study genetic history for more answers. A lot of these "slavic" places have a huge mixture of native DNA that has remained in the same place for thousands of years. Connect the dots. (Slavic Migration theory is rubbish). The dominant genes represent the current people of these areas.

@@Milossinchubure The Protestant movement in Bohemia started after Master Jan Hus was burned alive in Switzerland for his teachings. His followers were called Husites and their best leader was Jan Zizka z Trocnova who learned to fight at the first battle of Tannenberg and never lost a battle. They called themselves Brethren and their symbol was the Chalyce, the Holy Grail. After 100 years they were defeated at the Battle of White Mountain. Many emigrated to friendly countries. There is a Moravian Brethren church in Belfast and another one on Portuguease-Spanish border, for example. Some joined Austria in the wars against the Ottoman Empire, like Jan Jiskra z Brandysa, who ruled from Spis castle until he died. Others, like Veselenyi, Tokoly, Zapolsky, Rakoczi joined the Ottoman Empire in the fight against Austria, because of religious tolerance, lower taxes and favorable free trade in those days. Austria eventually defeated the Ottoman Empire, notably Prinz Eugen Savoy at the battle of Zenta. He was friends with the Duke of Marlborough, famous for his victory at the Battle of Blenheim in the Seven Years War of the Spanish Succession. The loyal Protestants were handsomely rewarded for their service and prospered in business and education. Slovak General Milan Rastislav Stefanik in WW1 was a Protestant. The Catholics remain in majority to this day in Slovakia.
