As a Yank not very familiar with Mr. Hanrahan, I must say that I have never seen a better Dumbbell Bench Press tutorial in my 51 Years of Weight Training! Mr. Hanrahan covery Every facet of the Biomechanics involved with the DB Bench Press. His instructions are clear, concise, and to the point. Obviously, this British Gentleman Knows of what he speaks. My sincere THANK YOU to Mr. Hanrahan for adding to my knowledge of the DB Bench Press ... BRAVO!

This is absolutely the BEST tutorial on benching I have ever seen. And now I know I've been doing it wrong all this time and can correct my form and avoid shoulder pain (which I have had in the past and now know why!). The way you presented, explained and produced this video is all top-notch. Keep them coming!

Great video! I'll only add that as a guy in his fifties, 3-45 degree inclined bench is much easier on shoulders I find as well as maintain arch while pressing lower back to bench. L5-S1 issues so "fuller" arch is painful!

Thank you! Just what I needed. The cue to screw the arms makes much more sense to me than just retract shoulders down and back. Two questions 1) do you advise keeping scapula pulled tight or let them move? 2) noticed you lower your arms parallel to your body. I’ve heard it said that you get more muscle growth from full range of motion. Do you advise against going below parallel? Personally, when I try to go further it hurts my shoulder but curious about your thoughts on this.
