  • Dungeness Power Plant is one of Britain's biggest Nuclear Power Station's. The site's operation involves inherent risks associated with nuclear power and destroying it will be no easy task. It will be one of Britain's most complicated and expensive clean up tasks and may not be finished until 2098, once all risk surrounding the demolition of a power plant has minimised to a safe level.

    Just replace the reactor and restart dungeness in the original structure.

    It's a pity Dungeness 'C' was cancelled. My father worked at Dungeness 'A' and we lived close by at Greatstone.

      Deserts are arid ecosystems that receive fewer than10 inches of rain a year.
      Dungeness gets average of 27 inches of rain per year.
      So it is not a desert then.

    I went to Dungeness in 1996 to visit my Auntie Dennis and one night, while relaxing outside in a balmy summer evening, I saw a rat the size of a medium sized dog. I had not been drinking at the time, although I had smoked a teeny-weeny bit of crack to relax. I told my Auntie about my strange sighting and she told me that Dave from the pub, that's Dave with the limp not Dave with the hump, had once claimed to see a rat the size of a shetland pony. Make of that what you will.

    Ha ha the comment of the spent fuel being "potentially dangerous " is a funny understatement!! The spent fuel unfortunately is dangerous for many years, that is how I understand things. I'm not an expert and would be happy to be corrected. It's difficult for the UK to generate enough electricity for our needs, and they have to look at all options, including nuclear. It's pretty good at generating power for all of us. But spent fuel unfortunately is toxic to say the least.

      Spent fuel is only dangerous if it is not constantly cooled for a few years and melts or if someone handles it without proper radiological protection. It only gets to that point if safety protocols are abandoned and it gets into the wrong hands. Otherwise, agencies like the IAEA ensure proper handling of the spent fuel and safety to the general public.

      @derpymcderpello5381 oh I see. Thank you kindly for that informed insight. I guess I only picked up information from the media which is probably not always true and they always paint a distorted dystopian view. But I've read and understood what you have written here and I sounds good, informing me what actually happens. I think more people should understand the truth!!

      Typically, the license for a nuclear power station can be reassigned and reused for a new reactor site, but in this case there may be geologic issues that may not allow a new reactor to be built there

    • @WildVke
      @WildVke 22 дня назад

      Reassigned to another plant? No. The NRC reinstates the nuclear power plants licenses if the power plant passes their inspections. The gov doesn't want nuclear because all their money is tied up in solar power, wind, and EVs. Governments all over the world.
