Touching upon Foucault's concepts of 'governmentality' and 'biopolitics' as well as his analysis of the panopticon, he elucidated a modern perspective in which we are both members of society - influenced and behaviorally modified by it - and contributors to society, with the power to be influencers of it. There is this give and take. We tend to 'police' ourselves and this is how power the power of the state devolves to the individual subject. This then includes philosophers and theorists whose 'actions' of 'theorizing' become both theoretical and practical. The written word becomes a 'site of contest' in the power struggle of social relations. Thanks so much for this video!
I think they’re idea there is that the worker struggle is the Paramount thing to focus on because the workers struggle is what allows all of those other institutions to have a banner to rally under. The colonized the institutionalized, whether that be psychiatric or imprisoned, etc.
I am a subscriber, in this vein, I am confident that you will cover the Chomsky-Foucault debate. Human Nature: Justice versus Power Noam Chomsky debates with Michel Foucault 1971
I consider myself an intellectual, but I do find too much breeds inaction, which should not occur, unless you are happy eating their cake(s) and staying out the fray -- which in my oppinion, is almost as bad as the /other/ side.
