- Hi! In this video, I take you on a journey through the historic Shore area of Leith, a place brimming with captivating stories. From King’s Landing, where George IV made history as the first monarch to land in Scotland in 171 years, to the 15th-century King’s Wark pub, where I enjoy a whisky. I had a fun time putting this video together, and I hope you enjoy discovering Leith’s fascinating past as much as I did!
Leith is a hidden gem in Edinburgh, and it’s definitely worth a visit.

I genuinely could not thank you more!! Really thank you very much. Though, I got the reward in the very last of the video, it was again worth of watching whole video.
I use to feed pigeons at this place (44:16) while I was studying here. I honestly wish to visit this heaven again..
Sorry for long comment, thanks !!
But my greediness is compelling to request you cover shandwick pl, earl grey st. 😬😬
@@devvrata8992 Hiya! I’m happy that you are happy 😃 About your request, I’ll see what I can do!
Regarding the lamppost. Persevere is the motto for Leith. There is a pub called The Persevere at the bottom end of Easter Road.
@@johnmcfadden1416 Ahh thank you!!
There are some vintage lampposts in Henderson Street, around the corner. Edinburgh has some quality antique street furniture.*anyway nearby
Great video mate! I am glad i found ur channel🙏
Thank you! You are very welcome 😊
Wonderful places ! The music with your glass of whisky was nice. I used to play harpsichord for several years, loved ancient music.😀
It was a fun adventure 😃 I like the harpsichord, do you still play or have you stopped completely?
@@indexbot I have played for 8 years but have stopped completely now. My new hobby is watching videos (easier !). 😂

It's a Wonderful Place Where. Wonderful View and Great Captured. I Really Like the Video.❤ Adding a Sub from India ❤❤
Hi 👋 Thank you very much 😃
Bravo! Enjoyed the alleys and kirkyard and historical structures and signs. I saw some shops and views to add to my May list. I hope there’s a lovely place for afternoon tea. And I hope Mr Squirrel found what he was looking for! Very enjoyable! Thank you, I-bot!
@@ritr-S Hurray, thank you!! I’m very happy 😃
@@indexbothi! Do you have a recommendation for a cozy pub that has live music?
Hi! Interesting that you should ask as I am looking for the same. I have heard good things about the Penny Black, also the Scotsman's Lounge on Cockburn Street. However there are so many others, we are spoilt for choice!
@@indexbotthanks! Saw Penny Black in your Calton video. I’ve also heard about Sandy Bell for local live music.
Yes, my friend has mentioned that one before, I’ve never been though. It’s near the museum. I don’t like to leave my dog too long so I don’t get out that often, through choice 😊🐕
Good show mate! Thx for the upload. Leaving sub. Hope to see more! ❤❤❤❤
@@TrailStrider909 Much appreciated! Plenty more to come 👍😃
@ Anytime! Full support for another traveler! 🤗❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful. And your captions are very considerate and well considered.
You should have many more subscribers (I am one). Have you considered including 'Edinburgh' in your titles? When I search I type in 'Edinburgh'. I believe SEO (search engine optimisation) would serve you much better if this were titled, say, 'Edinburgh - Leith's Shore Uncovered...' or similar. Just a thought, no need to respond.
Though I am quite familiar with Leith it remains a bit of a puzzle. And as with you, when walking those streets I constantly encounter things I'd never previously noticed.
As you note, there are so many great independent shops and eateries in Edinburgh. Though Leith has been on the up for some time, it seems that suddenly the streets have come alive with coffee shops, bakeries, vintage shops etc. Call it gentrification, but I call it 'youthication'; a younger generation who appreciates the vintage character of the area is pumping new life into it.
Not only is Leith interesting unto itself, but stepping beyond its boundaries into Newhaven, Bonnington and beyond up into the lower reaches of the New Town make it all the more engaging for a day out.
Thank you.
@@MrCherryJuice Hi!! Thank you so much for this wonderful comment, I really appreciate it! I will definitely try your suggestion re SEO. I find Leith to be utterly fascinating and an enigma within the wider city. This is such a fun hobby to have and I am delighted to know that it resonates with folk out there 😃☺️
But Edinburgh is a mad god’s dream
Fitful and dark,
Unseizable in Leith
And wildered by the Forth,
But irresistibly at last
Cleaving to sombre heights
Of passionate imagining
Till stonily,
From soaring battlements,
Earth eyes Eternity
-Hugh MacDiarmid (1892-1978)
@@indexbot It definitely resonates, which is why I will occasionally comment in an effort to provide you with a viewer's perspective. Consider it 'research'. 🙂
Though I no longer live in Edinburgh (my daughter lives in Morningside) I visit annually. I LOVE it and am happy to see that you too - like David Wheater and a couple others - show the city through loving eyes. Keep up the fine work. 🙏
Thank you so much, and I definitely appreciate and welcome your input and insights. Edinburgh is the best place I have ever lived and I have certainly lived in a few! I adore it :D
5:26 a bilge pump???
@@martinhowe1422 Ooh i didn’t think of that, I’m going to do some more digging, thank you!
