To add to the weirdness that is goat cheese in real life. Due to how Europeans historically have named artisan foods such as cheese and wine, being that it's name comes from the region of the world that it comes from (cheddar being from cheddar), Goat cheese is just referred to as goat cheese regardless of where it's made, it's texture, flavor profile, age, or additional contents. This makes it very difficult to sell goat cheese as it's near impossible to differentiate your product from a competitors. This naming requirement is intentional as a lot of cheese makers around the world view cheese as an art form, and actively push for laws around the world that make it difficult to sell cheese that isn't made in traditional ways, or is made outside of the regions that historically have made them. It's also why you will see a lot of cheese made in the USA use terms like "swiss style" as many countries outlaw naming your cheese something, unless it comes from that region of the world even if the cheese is almost identical in flavor and presentation.

Cheddar is a place but the cheese is actually named for the cheddaring method of making the cheese - it's completely normal and fine to have cheddar cheeses made elsewhere. Also there are many cheeses not named for a place, and many cheeses that use goat or sheep milk (or water buffalo milk like mozzarella) that aren't just called 'goat cheese' or 'sheep cheese'.

You missed something about Cactus. It has the highest farming EXP yield. It does more farming XP than pumpkins. And because it regrows after it’s first harvest it makes it a prime candidate to level farming when placed in the greenhouse. And if you need energy for the skull caverns it has a whopping 75 energy restoration (it is not as much as cheese) but since you are planting it anyways for farming EXP it isn’t a bad idea to also to take it with you when you go for skull caverns dives.

A very important note about parsnips in year 1: They have the best rate of return if money is the limiting factor.
example with 100g and 12 days...
    parsnips:
buy 5 seeds, grow 4 days, sell for 175g
buy 8 seeds, grow 4 days, sell for 280g (+15g that was unspent) =295g
buy 14 seeds, grow 4 days, sell for 490g (+15g that was unspent) =505g
    potatoes:
buy 2 seeds, grow 6 days, sell for 200g
buy 4 seeds, grow for 6 days, sell for 400g
after 12 days parsnips makes you about 26% more g, but takes up an average of 3 times as much space

    Note:
Hops have a unique relation with the Keg and the Large Shed.
A Large Shed can have 137 Garden Plots, and if you put in the Delux Retaining Soil, they will always be watered.
With two more Large Sheds, you can put in 137 Kegs in each one. As the first harvest comes in, you put them in the first shed, then next say the other, by the third you get the first 137 pale ale, then rinse and repeat. Since it takes 1.5 days for a keg to produce the ale. You now produce 41k every day (Roughly everyday).
It becomes an infinite loop. Making them repay for themselves extremely quickly.
The main cost is the Sheds, Kegs, Garden Plots and the Delux Retaining Soil.
Also instead of making Wheat Flour from wheat, put it in a keg to make beer, which makes it so every 5 days you get X times 200g basically making 1 wheat pay for 20 wheat which is way worth that extra day of waiting. Did the calculations a bit later so take note.
    A Beer sells for 200 gold without artisan trait 280 gold with artisan trait. This literally makes (200 - 10) / 5 = 38g/d or (280 - 10) / 5 = 54g/d.
This means in otherwords, it is well worth the extra work.
So this is how you do it, plant as much wheat you can, in 4 days, harvest it, and put it into kegs, then plant as much wheat you can again. Sell the beer, and wait for the next harvest. Rinse and Repeat, this will give you 14 total harvests through summer and fall. It is quite a lot of beer you will be selling.
Oh and the Tealeaves can also be pickled in the preserving jars. Making more money out of them (150 without the artisan skill).
Also added note: This is VERY IMPORTANT!
DO NOT, and I say again DO NOT Age Starfruit Wine into Iridium Quality! It makes you LOSE MONEY.
    Ok so here is the deal;
Starfruit takes 13 days to be harvestable, and it takes another 6.25 days to make it into wine, which makes its worth 2250 or 3150 with Artisan Trait.
That is a total of 19.25 days so we get 116.88g/d or 163.6g/d.
Compared to the 75.25 days in total to make a Iridium Quality Wine for 4500g or 6300g making 59.8g/d or 83.7g/d
Absolutely not worth it! Everytime something has been ages the time it takes is not worth it. Sure it doubles the price, but the efficiency of the gold per day, drops exponentially.

Some tips I thought would be included:
If you plant and harvest rice, then plant something in the same space on the same day it keeps its irrigation for that next crop even if it isn't rice apparently. Also rice unmilled rice can be used to make cheap pickles to befriend harvey and used as orange or yellow dye I think. You can make unmilled rice juice too for some reason. I wouldn't reccomend it but you can.
Wheat makes hay and beer (the quickest keg recipe), thought you'd mention this!
Tulips make a great cheap gift, gold ones make great emergency birthday gifts
Red cabbage is used in some good recipes like fish taco
You can also get ancient fruit seeds from the travelling cart, though I normally find them pretty easily as artefacts
Once you have a fully upgrade barn/coop and have unlocked pigs and rabbits etc you can move them to any sized coop or barn! I have a big coop for chickens/ ducks and a tiny one with 4 rabbits in currently
Most people know if you hold when watering on an upgraded watering can you cover a larger area and hold more water but he didn't mention it. This is the same for an upgraded hoe
You can also get mahogany seeds from slimes in the secret woods which you can chair hop into if you need hardwood early
You can also buy mushroom tree seeds in the walnut room
You might be able to get a fruit tree sapling a little cheaper from the travelling cart, all fruit are liked gifts and can be processed by kegs/jars
So many people like daffodils, they make great early gifts. A few people like salmonberries too, I like to keep them on me
Rainbow shells along with prismatic shards can be used to dye clothes by themselves! No red, yellow, green, blue and purple slots needed!
The training rod can also catch any fish in the mines as well as legendary
Crab pots are great for fertiliser or making vast quantities of sashimi/maki roll as an easy food source and trash can be recycled
All fish produce roe apart from squid, the dorado apparently needs high luck to catch, catfish can also be caught in if it rains in the secret woods in summer or witches swamp any time. Midnight squid produce more ink.

Small correction: during the crops segment, he said that cactus flowers can only be planted in the greenhouse or in a plant pot in the farmhouse. They can actually be planted outside, but only on ginger island. This will allow you to use sprinklers on them without wasting space in the greenhouse

I always pick Prospector~ I don't want to waste wood for coal and I found in my first run where I did not pick that one I was always running out of coal! and buying it is so expensive~
I loved this series and I am watching again~ I like that you try to find something good about each option~ I always like the crab pots too!
I usually grow poppies as gifts for the school teacher because she loves them and for some reason I don't find lots of emeralds until my second year usually ~~
    Anyway love your videos ^^

Special note on ancient fruit. You can grow them through all 3 seasons meaning if you stockpile on seeds you can get at least 2 seasons of ancient plants(i recommend deluxe speed grow due to it giving you an extra harvest). Also great experience when you get it up and going during normal farming seasons

A note about pineapple: They are the most space efficient crop that can be “watered” automatically. You can fit 137 of them in a 3x5 space via a big shed. Unlike Star fruit, however, you won't need to get the deluxe retaining soil in the garden pot each time, since the pot removes it upon harvesting a single-harvest crop.
Edit: On versions 1.5.5+ you could use starfruit because fertilizer isn't removed. However on switch (and probably mobile too) it does remove fertilizer at present.

    • @zaineoakley5555
      @zaineoakley5555 Год назад +1

This is just false single harvest crops do not remove deluxe retaining soil from garden pots but I still agree on pineapples being the best option as replacing in garden pots suck
And hops you have to harvest daily
1.5.5: Garden Pots no longer lose any applied fertilizers when they are harvested from. When placing a Garden Pot on Ginger Island on a rainy day, it will now spawn with its dirt correctly watered.

Love your videos in general, love all your guides (even though I have a ton of time in the game - there's always something new or a new angle), and love this one in particular - very deep.
One thing though (and I don't think anyone pointed this yet, sorry if someone did already):
    - 24:05 - for incubating, color of the egg only matters for void or gold chicken. White, brown, and blue chicken all can be hatched from either brown or white egg - it's RNG and rolled at the time you first enter the coop after it's time for that egg to hatch. So, same as with buying chicks from Marnie, it is possible to brute-force certain color - by restarting the day, if you really desperate or determined and don't mind doing it possibly ump-teen (time X) times.

Every year that a fruit tree in in the ground it will increase the quality of the fruit it produces. If I plant a fruit tree in year 1 it will produce silver in year 2 gold in year 3 and iridium in year 4. If you put fruit trees in the greenhouse it will only count the exact day and season it was planted. If I plant one summer 12 year two it will produce silver quality summer 13 year 3.

Fun thing about the wheat seeds, for the farming video, in one of my runs I tilled my whole standard farm Year 1, apart from the other crops I was growing, and planted wheat. No need to water, because there is almost a guarantee that it will rain 4 times between summer and fall, and I think I netted about 50-100k from it, but I don't remember.

I did the math, the production time of an emerald is 2:02:00 vs a diamonds as a 5:00:00, and you can trade in the emeralds for cheese on fridays, and with the artisan profession that is acually 163.8 gpd vs the diamonds 150, there fore more profitable

    • @FalconBeetle
      @FalconBeetle 9 месяцев назад +1

also if you ever were thinking about trading in your diamonds for triple shot expresso, dont, its more profitable to sell the diamond and then buy 5 coffees from gus, then turn them into a triple shot expresso :)

I've found that common mushrooms seem to increase both energy and health more than other forage items including blackberries. If you choose to have daily mushrooms in your farm's cave, you get more of the common mushrooms than needed to keep you going in the mines and other activities. Other mushrooms from your cave are valuable as ingredient for the otherwise expensive life potion which can save you from dying from monster attacks while mining.

I only actually crafted a slime egg press well after my slime hutch was fully stocked, I had surplus eggs from slime slaying and realized any one egg, even a green one, is a lot more valuable than the hundred slime it took to make it. That plus having 3 or 4 stacks of 999 slimes from resource hoarding made the egg press a pretty good profit source for a little while.
