  • In this video your host Jeff Ostroff examines the effects of trying to use a Trinova foam cannon in the DeWalt 550 PSI Power Cleaner. Soap cannons are meant to be powered by high PSI power washers from 800 PSI to 3500 PSI. can the new Trinova Foam Cannon supply that rich shaving cream snow foam you come to expect from high pressure soap cannons? As we continue in this dewalt power cleaner review, we compare it to the Ryobi 1,600 PSI 1.2 GPM Pressure Washer to see how each power cleaner works with the Trinova soap cannon.

    I just used my dewalt gun for the first time the other day, and yes I was a little disappointed with the soap process, that said I tested a couple of areas to see if after the soap there was less dirt that just after using the water sprayer. I do believe the soap did its job and clinged to the dirt, it was noticeably better with no wiping. That said i believe this would take it up to a whole new level, thanks for doing this video.

    Important distinction to be made with this test: The dewalt unit was connected to a garden hose NOT a bucket via siphon method. This is key, as the siphon method would not have enough pressure to use the FC…

    Jeff, great video. Very helpful. It does look like this Dewalt unit appears to do the job is all you are looking for is a good pre wash step before proceeding with the normal mitt wash afterwards. Question - when you talked about that alternate orifice nozzle - was that for the Ryobi or the Dewalt, or for the foam cannon? MINGLE Foam Cannon Orifice Nozzle 1.1 mm, 2-Pack.

  • @AllenReinecke
    @AllenReinecke 3 года назад +2

    Great follow-up video and yet more good information, Jeff.
    Since I'm still waiting on Grainger (!) I went and bought a Dewalt washer at HD today to see if it'll meet my needs. If Grainger ever comes through with the pressure washer and 5Ah battery order for $149, I'll return this one.
    Using a bucket water source, the low setting is not that good, but OK for rinsing. (If that's about the same as the Ryobi's performance, per your comments, I'm glad I opted for this one). I found the Turbo nozzle wouldn't always spin on Lo. The high is actually pretty good. A garden hose water source gives a little more oomph, but nothing major, though it did allow the Turbo nozzle to work properly all the time on Lo.
    I did see that the Hi setting occasionally lost some pressure from the bucket for no reason for a second or two, then it would kick back up. No hose kinks or air. Hmmm?
    This will fit well for my intended purpose - rinsing off the salt from the vehicles in PA winter when the garden hose is stiff as a board and frozen up and for cleaning my remote garage doors, siding, deck railings, etc. of mold and mildew in the Fall after spraying with cleaner. I was able to wash off the car and test this in a place where I can't get a hose to. I only used water and the car was acceptably clean for a quick going over, even removing the few early Spring bugs, and especially blowing out the dirt from behind the trim pieces, wheels ands wheel wells. Perfect for winter!
    I only tried a couple 75% (2 bar) 5Ah batteries and each (very) roughly lasted about 7 to 8 galls. Not quite two full 5 gallon buckets on Lo. Slightly less on Hi. Shame you can't see the battery charge without removing it, but you can tell as the pressure drops significantly when at 1 bar!
    I was able to spray down the whole of my CRV thoroughly with one battery. Probably two batteries and three buckets to do a wet-down, soapy wash and rinse, though I''ll likely do soap with the pressure washer (now that I know a cannon will work) and a rinse, two-bucket wash and final rinse with my garden hose, then a blow dry and microfiber cloth wipe in the warmer weather.
    A not too shabby Dewalt cleaner! Would love to see a 900'ish psi 60V version though.

    • @jeffostroff
      @jeffostroff  3 года назад

      Yes it seems every cordless sprayer I have tried has issues when trying to siphon water from a bucket. It works for a minute then stops. I think the problem is that a bucket of water lacks the 60 PSI headwind that the hose valve gives you.

Right now I have the WORX Hydroshot the 300 PSI one when it first came out for washing I have a 7 gallon tank as water supply I use an IK Pro Foam 2 for foaming. If the DeWalt would work by syphoning the water than I would invest in it. No the Ryobi wands don't have the standard 1/4 quick connects on the, they have their own rotating turret at the end and you can't change the tips.

  • @tuckleberryfinn5271

    If I'm already in the dewalt platform, would you go with this vs the ryobi? At $150 I could go tool only for the dewalt or the kit with the ryobi. Added benefit of getting into the ryobi platform for the cheaper nailer too.

    • @NPAMike
      @NPAMike 3 года назад +1

      The Ryobi pressure washer wasn't a battery operated pressure washer it was a electric pressure washer. That's why there's a big power difference in the video. However Ryobi does make a battery operated pressure washer for $80 on home depot.

    • @tuckleberryfinn5271

      @@NPAMike I wrote this comment before the premier referring to the $80 unit you're talking about. With the battery it's $150. I'm already in dewalts 20v but there would be no price difference. Just wondering which is "better"

    • @jeffostroff
      @jeffostroff  3 года назад +2

      The Dewalt at 550 PSI is notably more powerful than the Cordless Ryobi Power cleaner. Also the Ryobi unit you can't put standard power washer accessories like this soap cannon on the end because it lacks that 1/4" standard quick connect that they all use. The cordless Ryobi Power Cleaner is as powerfully as the low setting on the DeWalt unit. So the Dewalt's high setting is notably more powerful than the Ryobi. But that plugin Ryobi Pressure washer in this video is 1600 PSI, much more power than the cordless DeWalt unit, but you have to plug this Ryobi unit in.

      That's a dewalt 60v / flexvolt 3 Ah (9Ah in 20v mode, which is what this tool operates at). I have a similar, if not identical battery that came with a dewalt 60v string trimmer. Those big flexvolt batteries are decently priced when you get a bundle (like the 60v string trimmer or other 60v outdoor power equipment) but just a bare Flexvolt battery is very expensive.

    UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust ruclips.net/user/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.

      No because the EZ clean does not have a 1/4 standard quick connect on the wand, it has that rotating turret on the end. My black trucks really need washed but their covered under 8" of snow. My truck wants to move to you. Here it's either too cold and snowy, or too desert hot to wash anything. If I put soap on my black truck in summer, in less than a minute, it would be baked into the paint from the dry heat and strong winds. I thought it was funny when you talked about wind. Your wind is nothing compared to the east slope of the Rockies. The table would've blown over here.

    Waste of money! Dewalt has to call this sprayer off. Just returned to Home Depot. The motor is like an improved motor that comes in portable vehicle air pressure making same sort of noise as might be made in same China. 298 dollars waste of money! Returned and got same Dewalt manual hand sprayer for 34 dollars. Added a strap to hang on from shoulder works so fine without this lousy noise! 10 dollars car wash would do better than this sprayer. These guys don’t know what to recommend probably Dewalt offers them free sprayer, giving bias opinion. A hose would give more pressure than this sprayer.
