What’s shocking is that you probably had to show your passport to the bank to obtain a credit card etc, but then the debt collection agency is given that passport too to email around and sell on to other shady outfits.
Most businesses understand their Data Protection requirements on a raw level but do not think about unintentional breaches like you have pointed out. Great job.
