  • In Episode 26 of Car Chats, we discuss singleness with a special guest, our older sister! We share about our experiences of singleness in a Christian context and the specific challenges that can present. We also spend a significant amount of time giving singleness our glowing recommendation, and we explain why we believe singleness is both valuable and enjoyable.

    This one really hit home.
I guess anyone's perceptions are such a tiny tiny slice of the whole - but just all the people I meet on the streets - the so-called worst among us - when you get to know them, I find without exception, that there have been a handful of people in that person's life whose attention and goodness serve as a reinforcement to their conscience - and are the primary reason why a lot of the pain in this world people carry inside of them does not convert into anger and evil - even more so than it does already.
And it does seem to me like the majority of those influences I hear about are from people who, at the time they influenced this person, were single - just because they had more emotional capital to invest in others at the time- by virtue of their singleness.
The world does seem to operate on the assumption that single people are single because they are not wanted by even one other person (and I doubt this will ever change) - but I think actually, a lot if not most of the time, single people are single because their influence was needed by so many other people.
