Here's what I've found on these videos. He's using a different version of the software which means some of the menus have changed, things added, moved or taken away. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Approach learning this from three directions: 1. Watching the video and duplicating what's being done. 2. Open the online manual for help if you're trying to find or figure something out and 3. Realize that if you can't do what he's doing, most of his videos are in vector view-not raster, if your image doesn't line up like his and you have multiple levels, everything to the left covers anything to the right. That is, have a starfish on the first column level and second column level is a background, you won't see anything but the background and what comes after. Otherwise, his videos are very helpful. For me, it was overwhelming at first and I'm still learning but I'm taking it one step at a time. I may learn something and then play around with it. I am also doing the creative thinking of how can I use this in an animation.
Hi, congratulations for your videos! I'm starting to check Opentoonz, and considering it as a potential tool to create training videos. But I found what I think it could be un important issue to me. Once I include Keyframes to start and end an animation or transformation, if then, I decide to include additional frame before this animation (maybe to insert some additional explanation), all the frames get moved but not the keyframes that define the transformations. If it is not possible to move the frames together with the keyframes, I find it as a very limited tool, because it'd make very hard to modify animations (by inserting empty frames) if you also have to manually select each Keyframe and remember to move them to the right new frame. Is there any way to automatically move everything, frames together with keyframes when something is inserted? Thanks!
Hi TJ. Thank you for your tutorials. Please tell me: how can we make a certain level "opaque" in OT? Meaning it hides other levels behind it? Thank you. Eduardo.
Hi Fredrik. Yes, the easiest way is to decrease the frame rate, for examples, frame rate is 24 fps, then decreasing to 12 fps would be half speed. To make a certain object in the animation move slow, spread it out over more frames.
@@f.o.4537 the only way to increase the speed is to add more frames and or increase the playback speed. If key framing, you can move the ending frame later in the animation to make it take longer to reach that frame.
the frames between each keyframe aren't being automatically interpolated, am I missing something really obvious? All that happens is that the object jumps from its inital position to the new position at the key frame. Can anyone help?
But can you edit and paint and use the scale tool in these frames? I’ve been having issues editing the frames that have been dragged like you did to 24. If I use paint the following frames disappear. And if I use the select tool they are all affected. Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks for the very good lessons. Yet I have a question: When I give the render command I can see it happening but when I want to look the result the screen stays blanc. Can you tell me what went wrong?
Hi Instructor, Thank you for wonderful and quick tutorials - I have a Question. How to create a growing or an elongating line using key frames without thickening the line...scaling doesn't work ? Waiting for your comment
Thank you for the tutorials. These are really incredible. just a few questions: what kind of artwork does opentoonz support for animation? and can we import Illustrator artwork into opentoonz ? if so how we can import? Thanks in advance.
Hi thx a lot for this tutorial Just a beginner question: when you've done an animation with keyframes for example a 360 rotating wheel, how can it be converted as a cycle "loop" and inserted in a column to make it go to the front thx to other keyframes (Hope I'm clear enought) ^^
You've probably figured that it out already, but why not explain it anyways. ;D After the last keyframe on your xsheet, there is a loop button. If you click on it, the animation will keep repeating forever. There's a zigzag line over all the following frames if you enabled it correctly.
it's not taken away, it's renamed to drawing you can recreate the basic by opening windows and click every tab the basic has, then drag it where you want
Great videos tutorials I have problem: My keyframe animation is not playing but only play when I remove markers and frame per second become 28/24 and red. If anyone help with it.
i feel like a grandpa trying to learn this tripe (software) the raster / vector thing is esay to understand until they interact the undo shortcut can sometimes malfunction and kill what it's not suppose to when you pull on the white rectangle to make "still frames" / copy frames, when you move them they move the keyframe when you edit them they kill the og keyframe and in the cell placement say it's a new frame i guess all this complex settings BS works if you want to draw your animation frame by frame but it is not as esay to learn like something like devici resolve with the point system + tool menu + natural timeline
Hey there - I'm just posting to the most recent video to suggest something else that is free and great. Autodesk Sketchbook Pro. I've been using it since before Autodesk made it free, and it is a fantastic tool that works on multiple platforms... On a side note I've been watching your inkscape lessons. So thanks for those!
How do you make the next frame not blank? Like, how do you make the drawings you already have move? What are you clicking on? What tools are you using? Every single video you make seems to skip over the most important part of the whole video. How are you getting the stuff to move?
Hi TJ! I just finished your Opentoonz tutorials and am so grateful for the instruction! I made this little animation to thank you. ruclips.net/video/79YSaC6CL6Q/видео.html I would love to know how to duplicate a set of columns in one frame...i.e. to extend the number of frames to time it a little slower and had more hand movement.
That's very thoughtful of you. I love it, thanks! I'm not sure about the columns question. It's actually been a while since I've used OpenToonz, and I'm afraid I'm little rusty.
You are either a very good teacher or OpenToonz is deceptively simple.
I will go with the earlier.
Thank you.

well obviously he's on an older version, its from mar of 2019 ffs
i wish i read this much earlier, my brain about to explode
*thank you sm this opened a whole new world for me lmfao*
THhanks for getting me through the 'Basic' use of Keyframes!
There is no Basics tab anymore. Please update!! Thank you.
Can't believe this is free.

Amazing! Just installed the OpenToonz software, so many possibilities! Good lesson!
Hey man, how's your animation journey going?
@@Wsonik O, not so well! I'm still on my many other journeys (sculpting/casting/drawing/'life') and the animation path is closed for the time being! 🙂
OMGG omg thank you for these tutorials they help me a lot on animating and more thx
can you cover setting keyframes for the individual bezier nodes - if possible please.
Great work, thank you
Thanks Alan, yes I'll do that.
how do i move all my keyframes down so its below my other set of keyframes above it
Is it possible to increase or decrease the moving speed? And thank you for the tutorials, I think they're very good.

Hey do u know how to like make a new frame like in adbobe animate?
Its stressful to always use the mouse
how can i do ease in/out?

Thanks for sharing these! 🙏🙏🙏
i cant find the keyframe button it only shows a cube
How do i see previus frames? When i go to next frame
I have an issue when I rotate a drawing in one column it rotates every other column
WOW! That's cool, real time saver.
I spent almost an entire day looking for a feature to move the background and I finally found it
you talked to the hand?
Thanks for the very good lessons. Yet I have a question: When I give the render command I can see it happening but when I want to look the result the screen stays blanc. Can you tell me what went wrong?

Can we interpolate raster levels too??
Position, rotation, scale and all that stuff work on every kind of level, yeah. You might obviously run into more resolution problems, though.
How did it take me MONTHS to learn this. Just this.
thx so much 4 these tutorials! this is really helpful
we need a new video series for open toons cause i cant figure it out since basic is taken away please TJ Free
it's not taken away, it's renamed to drawing
you can recreate the basic by opening windows and click every tab the basic has, then drag it where you want
Please make a video on how to add music on our animation
Hello, I tired it but seems my version is different from yours
How to use the keyframe of the old project in the new project
