- Learn how to flex and trim your off road vehicle at home to prevent the tires from rubbing on the body. This video showcases a Jeep Cherokee XJ, however this process is the same for any solid axle or IFS vehicle that uses coil springs.

Hey I've got a full set of frame stiffeners a 8" iro four link rear and three link front AND some dana 60s that need to be prepared and trusses welded on if you need some more stuff to do lol. Plus its probably warmer down here. 😁 great vid keep it up

What i did was raise the fender flare instead of cutting it. It was a little more work but it keeps its strength that way. I ran it that way for years but when i went up to 35's i took them off on my first trail run. I guess if i want to put them back on, i can trim them like you did. I prefer to trim the fender before adding any bump stop. I have stock bump stops. The problem is on the 97+ the washer bottle is in the fender so you can only cut so high before you run into it. You could relocate the bottle but i have enough clearance for my 35's so i haven't bothered. I too have a video on what size tire will "fit" on an XJ. 🙂
Eventually I would like to build some tube flairs for this thing. But in the meantime trimming is the most time effective option haha

The front is easy... how about the rear ? How about some video of it actually stuffing and turning out wheeling...
The rear generally does not have as many issues due to no steering. Simple Cut N Fold is normally enough. But if you want to do a similar process in the rear you can remove all the leafs from the pack except the top leaf. This should give you enough free movement to flex it out with a jack and test. Willomet Motor & Fab has a great video showing this. Stay tuned for wheeling videos!
How about the rear? Did you have any issues with rubbing out back when flexed?
The rear rubed ever so slightly at full compression due to the rear axle being stretched back 1.5”. The rear cut & fold plus a little hammer action took care of it
Hey dude, I got my Rockjock anti-rock sway bar installed on my jeep. Thanks for all your help and advice. Only issue I’m having. Is it moving from side to side does yours do that?
Glad I could help. You need to center the main torsion bar, then slide the arms as tight inwards as you can before tightening the bolts.
@@machinesinc my arm contacts the unibody and track bar mount on up travel if I put any closer
@@moejr14 If thats the case I would recommend to check out your local hardware store for some delrin washers with the same ID as the torsion bar. You can use those to space out the arms while still keeping them tight to the frame mounts.

Don’t have a trailer so I always drive to the trails.
What dana axels you use? And gear ratio?
I’m running Dana 44s front and rear with 5.13 gears
