As a queer person myself, who can't disclose real name here, for many sad but real reasons, I am ok at this stage for a country like India that atleast to create awareness and to start the conversation at home, Aayushman Khurana and Rajkumar Rao as bankable mainstream stars who are also straight are doing a good enough job. They completely missed the question about if films like these ‘actually engage with the queer community’?. The point was if these films are just made to cater to the current trend and box office collections, or is the film industry actually giving more representation to people from queer community to be writers, actors, directors, technicians etc.? Are we as society doing anything to shift the needle as a community or just have 3 hours of entertainment.

I know that no one intended any disrespect...but we should make an effort to articulate questions in a different way...
Saying things like making movies "palatable" through "comedy", "normalizing"... could be really demeaning or hurtful or triggering to an LGBT individual.
While there is no denying that society is at a certain stage...but LGBT people who will tune into this interview...may feel “excluded”. To hear that a gay person’s story always has to go through this “palatable” filter…is probably why we don’t see good gay stories. All stories are intended to measure up to hypothetical social standards of straight people.
We forget that everyone has a sexual orientation...not just gay people.

As a gay person I could not connect with shubh Mangal zyada savdhaan for the same reason, because somewhere i could not connect with the emotions and struggles, as they didn't feel heartfelt.

Sounds like they want people to believe their "denial" on the widespread of Omicron cases. Almost over compensating by using statements like we won't promote bad movies or call it as it is. I disagree, if u commit to a movie, you have to and you will promote it as a good movie. No one will tell people, I made a bad movie, don't watch it. And we don't have to down play other genre's, 'small town love stories' just to promote your one film.
