One of the main things that I’ve noticed about motherhood (my sister just had a baby) is genuinely that it takes nothing for the father to be considered a good father. Mothers get so much backlash about the appearance of themselves/their babies, they way they choose to raise their baby, food they eat (breast milk vs bottle), work (whether they choose to go back vs. stay at home vs. getting a babysitter/extra help to watch the baby), ‘mom guilt’, etc while fathers get praised for doing the bare minimum! A father will change the babies diaper in public and it’s like they deserve a round of applause, meanwhile mothers do that all the time! I think often times blame is just heavily placed more on the mother, while the father could do absolutely no wrong
well yeah... we live in a patriarchal society. read about feminism and you'll be noticing a hole new reality. It's definitely hard at the beginning but it's important to be conscious so we all, women and men, can have a better future.
During my study in sociology, I have studied a great deal on feminism and the social constructs of it in our modern times, as well as the consequence! It just still interest me greatly and I just wanted to share my intake in the comments. I think (or hope!) that it is common knowledge that we live in a patriarchal society, but it nice to have affirmation or to put into words the common father vs. mother dynamics of parenthood and raising a child. I know this dynamic may seem obvious to other women, but perhaps to some, it is not! I've read and watched other youtube videos on this topic, but just wanted to rehash this because it's something I definitely feel strongly about (which I understand other women may not) and will actively talk about with my future spouse way way way down the line when I want to have kids!
I know you’ve always gotten rude comments in the past about “complaining” about how hard motherhood is but I always appreciated your realness as I am a mom myself and had an extremely rough start xoxo
Can you do a video about hair? The types is weaves you get? Any issues yoU have with lace frontals etc? The process of selecting the hair you use and maintenance you do? It can be so hard to maintain it would be really interesting for you to share your information on your hair journey!
Indie looks exactly like you! Especially when you have the really blonde hair. You’re two peas in a pod, I have no idea who would think you don’t look alike 😂
My sister is married to a man from Libya (she's white and blonde) and she has 3 children, 2 have dark skin dark hair and one has fairer olive skin and blonde hair, she's been asked a few times if they have the same dad 😩😂 it's rude that people ask but all you can do is laugh!
OK I had to pause:first of all, you look Ahmazing. Second, I am so glad you're sharing honestly! Because for people like me, I am 30 and I don't have a baby and I don't want to have a baby...... This helps alot! It gives me hope. Because I feel there is pressure for me to decide now and if I do get pregnant my response would also be "shit" lol
Awe, don't miss out on the most Beautiful experience a Woman will ever have (physically/emotionally/spiritually)..........Maybe if your circumstances allow you? Such as a Good Mate/Co Parent, Finances, Housing etc.....Would you reconsider then? I have one son and one daughter and I pray I get the chance to be a glam-ma........lol......Have I convinced you yet?
Nope, sorry! haha That sounds fantastic for you; sounds like you're loving it. I have been a mother to my sister since my mother passed away, a mother to my father, a mother to my friends, my coworkers, my pets. I take a lot of pride in being a generous, warm human, but I'm not interested in rearing a child. That doesn't mean I won't continue to give myself to all the other people in my life. To each their own!
My son has blonde curly hair and I get asked ALL. THE. TIME. where he gets it from, I always want to answer, "the sperm donor" aka his dad, aka my husband.
My Jewish Mommy Life, I hate when people ask stupid questions like that.... obviously if your kid doesn’t look like you they probably look like their father. Then it’s awkward because people get judging that you’re a single parent.
I adore you. Seriously. I started watching you right after you had Indie and I was pregnant at the time. I think you’re absolutely killing it and your instagrams have been 🔥. But I LOVE that you did this video. I have two small children and I can relate to so many of the things you have to say on parenting. Like, wtf are weekends??? I have a vague memory but... And getting comfortable with the new identity of being a mother, takes a lot more time than you’d expect. Just, thank you for this. 👏 ❤️
Lately, I've been researching postnatal depletion, which is different than post partum depression, because I have been really struggling with it because my mental health is not in great shape right now. It's very interesting.
As a 19 year old with seperated parents, I already know that the moment I settle down with a guy I'll *really* think about having a child. It's literally like being a teacher except with even more responsibility. You have to think of ever single aspect, from physical to educational to mental... it's not a piece of cake. The parents' relationship is just as important; I don't wanna have kids only to break up because one of us was too weak to fight and handle life! So, what you said about being a mother and also trying to not forget about your own self is extremely important. Society has always insisted that once you become a mum, that's your only task and responsibility, essentially saying that we're nothing but reproductive machines.... we're so much more. We're daughters, sisters, nieces, we're friends, workers, we're book/music/fashion/politics/science/etc. lovers! And we're also mums. We are everything and we can do everything we set our minds to, so to say that we're no human beings because we're responsible for our child is ignorant at best. I absolutely believe that you're a really good mum, despite only getting to see a fraction of your life through your vlogs... your morals shine through and they say enough!
So we're 'trying' right now Samantha😘 And it's honestly because I watched your videos and found your honesty and realistic views on pregnancy and babies...one of the only videos that I feel honestly prepared me! I had a fear but now I feel like I could handle it! There's so many 'happy/perfect' channels out there (and that's great) but I just wanted to let you know how refreshing you are. As a mixed race Londoner, I feel I relate to you a bit more than others. Your vibe 🌻💛 Anyway Thankyou and carry on being your beautiful self!!💪🏼💛💛
Everything you said is very true, motherhood is the hardest job in the world and sometimes can be criticised as well, for not being good enough as a mum, I have only one child but I wish I had another one but it is too late now to start all over again, I am 47 this year and diabetic, and my daughter is 17 this year. Motherhood is hard but we are all different of how to raise a child but only one thing are the same, unconditional love is stays with us forever and that is the best thing as a mother! Always a great video sammi! Thank you for sharing as always ❤️❤️❤️
Emma Kennedy to be nosey + intrusive...but why don’t you get your parents more involved? I’ve noticed some cultures don’t do that and they’re missing out. Having grandparents looking after grandkids weekly really frees up your time and allows your children to spend precious time with their grandparents.
Marley Barley not everybody has their parents around to help with their kids. I can only speak for my situation, but both of my parents are dead and my partners Mum works full-time and has very little interest in our son. If my Mum was around I would definitely be all for the weekly grandparent time x
Mikaela ahh these are really good points actually!! That’s fair enough, it hadn’t occurred to me grandparents might not necessarily be interested in their grandchild but it does happen. In some east European and south Asian cultures parenting is almost shared with grandparents - they’re really hands on.
My parents are already well involved, but that doesn’t mean I can give my daughter to them every weekend just because I want a weekend you know. My child is my child not everyone else’s haha
Marley Barley yeah unfortunately it does happen. I live in Australia but my family is Filipino so I know what you mean about grandparents being heavily involved, my grandparents helped raise me x
I also thought I wanted three kids, now that I had one I feel like two is my max. The 360 cups are the best! My daughter is two months younger than Indie and she can use a normal cup. Thanks for answering all these questions. I really appreciate your honesty in being a mother, it is more relatable.
Rebecca Shores The jump from 1 to 2 is apparently the worst. After that you give less shits, don't stress about anything and the kids usually end up being more chilled out and falling into line! Also good on you for giving your child a cup from a young age, sippy cups are overused and for too long. (I was reading about this recently from a paediatrician).
I really appreciate this video because you are being honest about motherhood. I will always be honest about my experiences in life, so to see others do the same, is really nice! Especially because the answers on motherhood are usually generic “oh, it’s great, everything’s wonderful,” and I feel like people should be honest more.
you are just, goalllss!! Always so honest and frank in your videos but equally always open minded and respectful of other views. Always waiting for your next video! xxxx (P.S Indi is adorable, and it's amazing to see her growing and learning!!!)
I have 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. Never ever thought I would be a mother of 6 but it has worked for me and my husband and we feel so blessed, knackered but blessed! Haha xx
Sammi! I discovered you when I was pregnant and found your L&D video. I have been addicted to your channel ever since. I was so sad when you said you weren't going to do anymore mum/baby videos -- I'm SO HAPPY you're doing them again!!!
i think indie looks like you like has the same face shape but has a lighter colouring than u! just my thoughts on it!! love u sammi and indie is so cute
I miss the platinum but you are gorgeous inside and out, regardless. I dont have children but im 26 and my body is telling me in many ways it wants a baby. Still a few years away ;) I love your relationship with Indie, her personality is so vibrant. Xoxo
Thank you for this very honest Q&A. I am a lucky mum of a 10yo girl and you addressed so many topics that are very true and you weren’t ashamed of talking about them. Having kids is very challenging, you might lose yourself as a woman and even as a person because the responsibility is just overwhelming! But being a parent is the most rewarding feeling ever... As much as my kid drives me crazy daily and I feel like being in a roller-coaster 24/7, it’s still the most amazing feeling I have ever had - the amount of love I feel for my child. Best of luck for your family! ❤️
With regards to Indies colouring, you can have throwback genes... on my Dads side I am my Nanas only blonde haired blue eyed grandchild (all the others a brown eyed brunettes) and on my Mums side they’re all dark haired (expect my mum who is a red head) yet all my Granny’s grandkids on that side are blonde haired blue eyed. Strange how genes work
Oh Sammi you really are a wonderful mum. Indie is lucky to have you. If she’s anything like her Mum, she hasn’t got anything to worry about and neither do you!
The illustrated version of the HP books would be such a good gift for Indie when she’s older! Beautiful images plus she’s reading the book at the same time!
My mom is 70 and dresses like a 20 year old, she has the body for it, skinny jeans, cute shirts, the lot. I love her for not doing things "age-related" that you're "supposed to do". I mean, what *are* you supposed to do? It's not that she follows trends big time, but she loves clothes and make-up, and always will!
I've always thought indie had your eyes and nose as well. Yeah, she's fairer but she definitely looks like you with her round features. You both are gorgeous!
I've been watching you for so many years and it's really awesome to see you as a mama! I love how you still keep your silly and down to earth personality even when dealing with things as complicated as motherhood. xoxo
I’ve been watching you for a long time so even tho I’m not thinking about kids, I just had to watch. It’s amazing how I’ve seen you grow through the years! I enjoyed this mum q+a
I loved this! You are radiant and real as always, Sammi. I've been watching your videos since you started so i feel like I've grown up with you and it's been a privilege
I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant with my first and I can already relate so hard. Def didn’t plan on being a mom but here I am! Hoping things go well and fingers crossed that I’m a great mom just like you!
You are looking gorgeous! I feel like since you have become a mum you’ve really come into your own and I’m loving it! Unrelated...Do you have a salon/place that you like to go for face treatments? I feel like I saw you post/blog about it but I can’t find anything for the life of me!
I loved this. I was one of those women who planned and waited very impatiently for pregnancy and baby. I had an incredible amount of experience with kids from birth age....loved loved loved everything about babies. Spent so much of my time taking care of others babies....But OH MY GOD 😣...my first few months were a disaster. I struggled A LOT. I felt like the biggest failure. It is not always a garden of roses, even for those whose pretend that it is. It is a lot tougher than most women will admit. But so so so worth it. The struggles do pass...It becomes enjoyable - eventually.
I NEEEEEED more of these videos! I loved watching your pregnancy updates, and now that I'm pregnant myself I actually had re watched them. So to see more recent vids are amazing! I'd love to know more about what products you'd recommend as well. There's just so much on the market, and I'd love your help in narrowing it down. Thanks so much Sam! You're an amazing person and and amazing mom!
“i don’t like people that take themselves too seriously and don’t have a laugh about things ‘cause it’s like, we’re all gonna die” you should print that on t-shirts 😂
Ohh sammi, this video was so inspiring in the sense that I, as a young woman who has tons of questions about pregnancy and motherhood, feel so much more safe about having kids because you showed me that you can actually allow failure and down times to happen. Your honesty is precious and you have not lost your youthfulness and sort of edge that I always found inspiring. You dont seem afraid to tell it like it is but you also dont over dramatize just to seem a “stronger” person. I just wanted you to know that that is super valuable 💓
Absolutely love her videos on motherhood. Her honesty is always so refreshing. Look at Sammi's baby shower video. There's a photo of Sammi as a child = Indie's twin.♥️♥️
Sammi, I’ve been watching you for 5 or more years and I never comment on vids because just na haha but I’ve really felt like I’ve got to properly understand you and get to know you in this vid and I love how honest you are and down to earth you are!!! Fave RUclipsr, rate u always ❤️❤️❤️
thank you for answering my question! i've watched your videos for years and seeing you go through this journey has made me excited for when it is my turn to become a mum!!
Eeeee love it when you do mum videos it’s been ages! I was like yes to everything you said. It’s so good to hear people answering honest questions about motherhood. Also your new hair looks amazing on you it suits you so much and yeah I think indie looks so much like you even though she’s fairer xxx
I’m a new mum and I can honestly say I hated the first 6 weeks, I loved him more then anything but it’s so true that shit is so hard! Your such an awesome mum Sammi you guys have raised such a cool little girl ❤️
sam ! i love your honest mom stuff ! it helped me so much to see your honest point of view because you had indie in december and i got pregnant beginning of november so watching your pregnancy videos and vlogs made me see some things no one tells you, even i try and tell people the honest stuff, even though every kid will be different its always nice to hear different perspectives. so thank you !
All so true! It changed my life as with you and many women, for the good, but certainly at times it can be tough x but so worth it! Lovely to see the honesty - plus the first cup review. Have been looking for one and had been so confused by the sheer choice - of cups!?!? And that’s just a cup?!
I asked the qn about you and Indie looking alike. I think because we only see snippets of her, I haven't had the chance to note your similar details. Either way, love love love your vlogs, you and Indie are beautiful!!!
I’ve followed you for years and years through lots of your life changes and my own.. just wanted to say thank you for your honesty about motherhood! Not that you are giving “warnings” but I do feel better prepared for how much life will change. Still a few years away, so happy to hear your experiences now 😂❤️
Thanks for this! Being a mother of 3 myself, It’s so refreshing to see on RUclips be truly honest about being a mom/wife. Especially for the viewers who may have a more romanticized perception of motherhood and married life, this is a very good account of the many realities one is faced with. You’re a wonderful person and great mum Sam! 👍🏼🙂
Thank God you do these videos so honestly. I can imagine being a mum and not enjoying pregnancy, or having a really hard time afterwards, but I always thought, if nobody is saying anything, it must not be that bad. So thanks, you probably saved me from having so many horrible thoughts in the future xxx
Thanks for answering my questionn, babe! Not being a mum yet I really appreciate the honest chats about it to know what it's really like and understand it! xx
Love this Sammi - love hearing about Indie and how motherhood has changed things for you as I’ve watched you from the beginning! 💖 I totally think Indie is spitting image of you btw and actually looks a lot less like Jason! Genetics are bizarre like that though; I’m exactly the same and spitting image of my mum and nothing like my dad - but then look so much like some cousins on my dads side!
You look lovely in this video. I don't have any children yet (and I never thought I would ever want kids, but that has changed since I have meet my amazing bf) but I think your right, it's nice to be able to hear honesty about being a mum/parent.
The working from home thing is so frustrating! My boyfriends family just do not understand why I have my little girl in nursery when I work from home. Because she's two and she is an absolute live wire! It's just the same as us saying well would you take her to work with you? You couldn't sit and concentrate properly doing your job with a toddler running around. So silly!
I’m not a mom and thoroughly enjoyed this video! I wasn’t even going to watch because I didn’t think I would I find it interesting but I did! My mom is very very fair skinned and I’m more dark medium and I’ve grown up with questions about relations to my mom as well. More so from kids than adults. But I know you and Jason will help her get along with that.
Loved this video hun - it was so relatable! My wee boy is a month or so younger than Indie and I definitely agree with everything you said about the early weeks and eventually finding that balance again. You are an amazing mumma! Xox
New subscriber 🙋🏽♀️ wish I had found your channel way I before I did. I loved this video! I could relate to so many of your answers! Loving all the content that you’re putting out

synise xo Spot on. The double standards are ridiculous!
Yes. 👏 Also how many people consider dads looking after their babies as “babysitting”. No.. you’re a parent and that’s your responsibility too. 🙄

daiseress C. If you freezer your eggs would you have been able to have another child? Genuinely curious.
Marley Barley possible and depends with women’s choices and what are best for them.
Omg yes! Weekends! I feel that! People say ‘ I can’t wait for the weekend, days off work’. I’m like what’s a weekend?

No i am ! lol just kidding

I don't know if he would be open to doing a video but I would love to see a Dad Q&A from Jason to kind of get his perspective on the same questions.
I love your hair, Samantha! It looks nice & curly. Love it!
Saw someone watching this video on the bus !
LOVE this video! I’m 34 weeks pregnant and totally had a mini meltdown about losing my identity but it’s nice to hear it’s all normal 🙂

Aw sammi I loved this vid! You're such a cutie! Been watching you for like ten years, crazy that you're a mum now!
I miss the platinum but you are gorgeous inside and out, regardless. I dont have children but im 26 and my body is telling me in many ways it wants a baby. Still a few years away ;) I love your relationship with Indie, her personality is so vibrant. Xoxo
I like the fact that you stated you didn't worry about commenters judging you. More youtubers should be like that
Thank you for this very honest Q&A.
yes make her read the Harry Potter books! Im 20 years old and im reading them for the first time now, I love them
"who cares, we're all gonna die anyway" hahaha loved this
With regards to Indies colouring, you can have throwback genes... on my Dads side I am my Nanas only blonde haired blue eyed grandchild (all the others a brown eyed brunettes) and on my Mums side they’re all dark haired (expect my mum who is a red head) yet all my Granny’s grandkids on that side are blonde haired blue eyed.
I enjoyed this mum q+a
I'm 25 weeks pregnant with my first baby! A girl! This was so helpful and nice to hear. I love hearing other mom's stories. Thanks for sharing Sam!
Sammi, Baby Indie looks just like you she has your eyes.. And you both are very beautiful. Jason is a very blessed man indeed.
I don't know why, but I some how love that you keep on forgetting to record intros and outros, it makes you more relatable. loved this video :) xxx
Loved this! Can’t believe she’s 1.5 years now!
your hair is sooo pretty, thank you for being honest about everything and showing "the real life"!
I absolutely love your Mom honesty, thank you! Helps me not feel alone for sure
I loved this video! You should do more of these! Wishing you the best
Indie looks just like you ... spitting image all be it she has really fair skin and hair
Samiii ! I love so much! LOVE your honesty ! I have watched you since the begining its wonderful to see your changes in life !
Eeeee love it when you do mum videos it’s been ages! I was like yes to everything you said. It’s so good to hear people answering honest questions about motherhood. Also your new hair looks amazing on you it suits you so much and yeah I think indie looks so much like you even though she’s fairer xxx
so honest and eloquent!! loved this xxx
Loved the honesty in this! Not planning on being a mum for a very long time (if ever) but found this so interesting! Xx
The person is crazy. Indie looks EXACTLY like you
love you talking about motherhood and all that comes with it so honestly an not beeing put of by negative reactions. you go girl!
Such an inspiring video, really enjoyed watching it! And your hair looks stunning :)
I’ve followed you for years and years through lots of your life changes and my own.. just wanted to say thank you for your honesty about motherhood! Not that you are giving “warnings” but I do feel better prepared for how much life will change. Still a few years away, so happy to hear your experiences now 😂❤️
I LOVED this video so much!!! Thank you!
Absolutely loved this! You’re such a natural, and so so honest in such a positive way! Huge mum inspo for me x
Hey! Don't diss coriander Sandy!
you tell her lol
Coriander is the worst
Thanks for this! Being a mother of 3 myself, It’s so refreshing to see on RUclips be truly honest about being a mom/wife. Especially for the viewers who may have a more romanticized perception of motherhood and married life, this is a very good account of the many realities one is faced with. You’re a wonderful person and great mum Sam! 👍🏼🙂
Do more mum/ parenting videos!! This is great and so honest :)
I'm not a mum but loved your honesty in this video! Your honesty is one of the reasons I love watching you x
You look lovely in this video.
I don't have any children yet (and I never thought I would ever want kids, but that has changed since I have meet my amazing bf) but I think your right, it's nice to be able to hear honesty about being a mum/parent.
Please do more honest baby videos like this! I am 8 months with my first baby and I loved this!
Thank you for being so honest! This is a great video.
Loved this video hun - it was so relatable! My wee boy is a month or so younger than Indie and I definitely agree with everything you said about the early weeks and eventually finding that balance again. You are an amazing mumma! Xox
I loved this Q&A!! I really appreciate your honesty.
Sammie! I needed this! As a new mom I related to everything you said.
Notification squad!!! lol. Sam you look amazing. Loving the new hair xx
I really enjoyed this Q&A, it has to be one of your best ones ,I love your honestly in it! Ps your brows look amazing 💕
What’s a weekend? Lol 😂. I have a three year old. Such a relatable video. Loved it.
Loved this video! So honest and relatable. Thank you so much for being You! And Indie is so blessed to have you ❤️❤️
I Loved this! I think Indie is the image of you 🧐xx
New subscriber 🙋🏽♀️ wish I had found your channel way I before I did.
I loved this video! I could relate to so many of your answers!
Loving all the content that you’re putting out
