Personally I think toasting it ruins the jelly, since I like the coldness of the jelly. Toasting it sends weird signals since it's partially cold and partially hot. To each their own though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This was great. There are lots of things to consider when you do PB&J. Grain or white, crunchy or creamy, pb on both sides, cut or whole, crust or no crust, jam v jelly v marmalade...I'm surprised no one asked for a toaster or honey. Yup, the great PB&J debate is legit.
Sometimes I panini press mine if I need some variety. If you try this beware the piping hot jelly!!

White or cracked wheat, either toasted or non, always crunchy, jam (duh) and I love raspberries so there's really no other option. Raspberry jam. Crust on, cut into four triangles.
White bread. Crunchy peanut butter. Pb on one side only JAM on the other never toasted

You jest but I'd watch that. Can you imagine the look on the chef's face? Do they just read and follow the directions with a heavy sigh or do they go "here's my fancy professional trick for Kool-Aid I like to boil the water and add a pinch of salt"

Opted for white bread. My mom always bought whole wheat, and I recently started using organic peanut butter.
Try the Nuts & Grains bread from Safeway/Vons if you like crunchy.
