- Create An Epic Devil's Egg Serving Board with Simple Steps!
In this video I show how to create an epic devil's egg serving board using Carveco software and a Onefinity CNC. The Devil's egg board is made of oak in this case but you can use other species to create your epic board.
I used a 1/4-inch end mill and a 1/4-inch ball end mill to create the board.
when finished I used a 1/8 round over bit in a handheld router to soften the edge on the board.

Another fantastic tutorial, thanks Vernon !
Thank you 😊!!
Thank you so very much a great tutorial and I think slightly better than your usual. Thank you so much for that you explained it very well.
I look forward to more of them.
Thanks Paul glad you enjoyed it. Obviously you were the inspiration for this video so thank you. And yes, I did add a few little touches here and there hoping to continue to improve with every video. Keep the ideas coming.
I rarely go past the 10-15 minute mark on tutorials. This was worth my time. Thanks as always Vernon!! Very much appreciate your help!!
Awesome John glad you enjoyed it
And thank you for the continued support
First class tutorial 👍😎
Thank you
When I finish the Egyotian chess set I am going to do this project. Thanks Vernon for the great tutorial.........
Thank you for watching and the kind words
This was great!
Thank you glad you enjoyed it!
Vernon, another great lesson and tutorial. Sadly for me, I have Maker. I saw the reply to another viewer about using the clipart relief library. I am not advanced to that point. But, I do like the way you explain and demonstrate
Thank you
If you have any ideas for tutorials shoot me an email hinkleshop@gmail.com and I will try to make it happen
So easy to learn from your Tutorials, Mr. Carveco! Thank you for sharing!
You is welcome lol 😆
This is a great tutorial. I keep running into an issue with the material thickness. It always assumes the material is thicker than I want it. My goal is to use the 0.75" just as in the tutorial, but the three times I've done this, when i get to the material setup screen, it is already either 1.6" (the first time) or 0.81005" (the second and third time), and as a result, Maker+ will not let me enter 0.75". There must be a setting I'm overlooking
I think you are missing the safe z setting
That setting should be .1 - .2
And I figured out what setting I messed up. The height and start height are different things. Start height apparently needs to remain at 0. Once i got the proper values in there, it worked perfectly! Excellent tutorial!
reference to egg tray . when comes to shape editor i dont have maker plus just maker any ideas how to get that part. thanks
Hey Joe yes I answered this in the comments below
good video. I have carveco maker. why does my cursor not change like your does, it just stays the cross. when doing the arc the barbell doesnt appear when its in position. TIA
Thanks for watching
That’s a good question and it has me stumped
I would contact Carveco tech support it’s likely just a simple setting change.
@Hinkleshop I figured it out. There was snap settings that were not check marked. This all new to me as I am just learning the software before I order my machine. Really enjoy your videos.Very easy to follow.
Vernon, you mentioned using the shape editor in Maker for the eggs as I don’t have maker+ , but I don’t think Maker has that option, or at least I cannot find it ? 🤔
What I’m showing you here can only be done in maker plus
However, there is a way you can do it with only maker
Go to the relief, clipart library bring in the sphere, adjust the size to the correct size before you paste it copy the number of eggs you need and continue on with relief carving tool paths
I did try that, but I wasn’t able to size the sphere. Would I use the transformer tool to do that 🤔
@craigwesson1788
Yes be sure to adjust the size before you paste
I will try that again. lol. Thanks.
Vernon, I’ve got the egg shape down, but there is obviously something I’m doing incorrect. lol.
I don’t know if you had time to do a quick procedure after the egg shape is created that’s where things start falling apart 🤣. Bottom of transform tool there is relief clipart. Is there anything I have to do with this ? I keep getting error. The start z height must be higher than the last z slice height. 🤷♂️
Is this exclusive to Maker+ or can this be accomplished with Maker?
Maker users can do the same thing. Instead of drawing oval vectors, and using the Shape Editor to make them 3D, bring in the Sphere under Dishes in the clipart Library. Change the size to match what I did. Don't paste it. While it is still floating (blue). make copies using Block and Rotate Copy. That works with reliefs just like it does with vectors.
Thanks! I have a family member who is Queen of the Deviled Eggs and she would love this! Really nice video.
I just have maker so I did that with no problem but got stuck on how to enter the depth of cut for the sphere according to my 3D view the depth is about four inches deep on a 3/4 piece How do I change the depth to about .375@@Hinkleshop
@@charleskoch3082 before you paste activate the transform tool
Directly under the height and width adjustments is your Z measurement after you make the adjustment then you can paste
I have carveco maker and i dont see the shape editor to do the cup impressions. need help LOL
Hey Brian I explain how to do it in the comments start with the comment Craig Wesson asked and read the replies
Thks. So now when I go to paste, the highlighted egg disappears. They get grouped after you paste then? Why is the egg disappearing?
@@brianlee6428 every adjustment gets made before you paste
@Hinkleshop so when I do all the eggs and then go to paste the eggs disappear off the screen. If I tip the image in 3d u can see the egg impressions from the bottom but not in a top view. Why can't I see the egg shape in the top view. Can I change the 3d view color to something that might be easier to see? The image come in yellow on a yellow background.
@@brianlee6428 before you paste check the bottom right of the screen just above the paste button be sure you have selected add not subtract
