I'd recommend wearing a bonnet to sleep if you have locs, helps with the frizz. Usually the frizzing/pain means it's not for your specific hair type. But to each their own, if locs make you happy, it's your choice!

they don't have much choice when you create the work for them tbf, this process is absolutely not the extent she would usually have to go to for her work
having protective hair styles when you don't have a hair type requiring them will just lead to traction alopecia for most people; daily ponytails can even cause it because hair with less texture cannot sustain the tension without breakage
this is even similar to how pearls and other precious beads are knotted between each bead to allow the tension to distribute in sections rather than across the entire string - kinks in a hair strand can function similarly in reducing the pressure

And not because you aren’t black but because you have very thin hair, some styles don’t look good on everyone. Straight hair or even wavy or curly hair are very versatile so idk why you’d want emulate a more difficult to manage hair type when your texture and the styles you can do are so many.

Although I admit mine were quite a mess for about a year, I have to say, please don't listen to all those people who tell you that straight hair dreadlocks require so much maintenance or those people who claim you would literally have to force your hair to loc.
That's really not true, you just have to wait a little longer for your dreads to mature than if you had curly hair. So don’t worry, they’ll literally lock up even if you don’t do anything. If you want freeforms then go for it :)

People in these comments are so dumb. Y'all just saying thst its the coily hair holds the loc but y'all are just ignorant. Locs or dreadlocks are essentially taking hair and manipulating it into bigger Chunks so it's easier to deal with. The process of a loc is the hair MATTING together to be more manageable. While locs have a structure dreads have a more messy look. Yes curly hair might look a lot more structured cause the curls lock together more but it's not impossible for non black people to get dreads. Nobody said you had to like it but don't get your facts wrong and make up shit to justify that you don't like it and that someone will listen. Just say you don't like it. Be honest and stop adding additional bull to justify it.

Obviously that’s gonna be painful. Idk why certain ppl r getting mad in the comments when blk ppl explain something central to their culture?
Like would u rather people bash her Orr??
And why can’t black people be annoyed that now it’s trendy to have hair like this when less than 8 years ago you would have talk show hosts making fun of it even when it’s on a celeb.
