This is an incredibly, INCREDIBLY hard song to sing and Sameer is just amazing. It takes all the breath in the world, a ton of control, and some goddamn feeling. Of course that's easy to do if you're the best singer in Alternative Music (and make no mistake, Sameer is THE best singer in Alternative music right now).
Can't just say it, gotta prove it. Sameer has a very unique tone to his voice, same with Francois(who also has a better voice than most lead singers). It's hauntingly beautiful (check out Typhoon in the open). You could have a great voice but lack the tone to really pull YTG's music off. If you really can sing as well as Sameer, or even Francois, then you need to get into a studio ASAP
@@mrodrenzo I think being able to capably sing the song in key is one thing, but being able to sing it with the quality of Sameer's timbre and level of emotion is quite a different thing, and that's what makes it art. Feel free to post your version though--I'm curious to see how yours compares.
They're so in sync with each other.. Obviously some of it was just on the spot improvisation and it sounded so good that they couldn't stop smiling.. :D
Yes! I found this video again! I covered this song and version while I was in school for music 10 years ago and wanted to relearn it years ago but lost it.
I love his voice. So unique. They put on an amazing show in Austin this past summer. This song is one of my favorites. When I need to clear my head, I play them while driving with the top down on the twist and turns of the Texas hill country.
They have such a mature sound, but every so often, they show their age....e.g., the lead singer looks like he just had his braces off, at 2:44 (about) with them trying to not giggle, and their no-beard look. So young!!! Not knocking them, I think it's amazing. You forget how young they are until those things pop up....and it just blows the mind that much more at their talent.
@kamrrdoyal Garands at Normandie. By Garands they mean M1 Garands which was a gun that was used by American soldiers in WW2. Normandie Beach is a famous battle ground.
This reminds me of clocks by coldplay.... O.0 I love both the songs but that is the connection I made right away. I just wanted to point it out; but damn this is such an amazing song and frick what an amazing band.
great acoustic version. to the 3 dislikes what the shit piss an throw up r u on. do u know music at all or u just dont like the band. def on my favorite acoustic songs. late
How to play the guitar part: Intro and lead-up to chorus: E chord (0 2 2 1 0 0) 5 5 0 4 0 0 5 4 0 2 0 0 The rest of the time: E chord (0 2 2 1 0 0) Bm chord (x 2 4 4 3 2) A chord (x 0 2 2 2 0)
Sean Davies It starts with the Emaj, goes to X50400 then to X40400. Mute the low E string (denoted by X in the chords above) and strum open on the other strings. Hope that helps!
+William Elgan you can usually find them online I use this app on my phone its called tabs its only about 2 bucks but it has a bunch of songs not all are 100% accurate because people write them but I love it

Not trying to sound pretentious or anything, but I can sing this song quite well in the exact same key. Is this rare?

@@mrodrenzo it’s not rare, I’d actually consider this song easy to sing for both males and females due to the lower key
He wrote it ya?
He's goin so freakin ham on that guitar. Purely genius.

2:36-2:42 was definitely improvised. You can tell by both Francois' and Eric's reactions. Love it.
The way they communicate with each other is adorable.
Favorite song by them
damn the chemistry between them is just amazing
This song and take me home , holds my heart captive
I don't understand how anyone could dislike this band. So incredibly talented, best band I've heard in awhile.
This is outstanding

Aww... My 3 year old turned off his cartoons to listen to this. He LOVES these guys.
I love how Sameer keeps his eyes closed while singing.. It shows he's really into it
3 guys, on a couch, in tshirts and shorts, unplugged, killing it.
Incredible talent. I can't get over how in sync they sound even twenty years go. Your music makes my soul so happy!

Amazing vocals! Sameer is the man!
They have such a mature sound, but every so often, they show their age....e.g., the lead singer looks like he just had his braces off, at 2:44 (about) with them trying to not giggle, and their no-beard look. Dude....Your Voice rocks.
Gosh.
The studio version off the debut LP is one of my favorites. But this is so raw and real, I like it more! (How's that possible?)
Perfect*-*

Baby Sameer!!

3:03 to 3:13 - best ever. Eric is so fun to watch!
@pinerdo12 yup!:)
That's so weird! I'm studying for my history exam that I have tomorrow :P It began with Take Me Home and now this :)
Sameer is brilliant.
i love you
great acoustic version. to the 3 dislikes what the shit piss an throw up r u on. do u know music at all or u just dont like the band. def on my favorite acoustic songs. late
i would love to know what the song is about, love the song and band:)
Did they film this in prison together?
How to play the guitar part:
Intro and lead-up to chorus:
E chord (0 2 2 1 0 0)
5 5 0 4 0 0
5 4 0 2 0 0
The rest of the time:
E chord (0 2 2 1 0 0)
Bm chord (x 2 4 4 3 2)
A chord (x 0 2 2 2 0)
Has anyone tabbed this out? I figured out the two first chords for the intro, but I can't figure out that last chord.
i do x50400 for the b min and x40200 for the a, i dont know if its right but it sounds fine
@benficagurl14 a taylor, i'm not sure which one. i'm thinkin maybe a 300 0r 400 series ?
It's an E, B bar chord, except you leave the e and B string open, and then an A played like the latter.
Bacon for the ears!
his voice is as hot as he is!
Is there any recording of François singing on his own? I'd really like to hear his voice better, it seems very nice.
I think i must have put at least the 543 hits down for this song..
@pinerdo12 is a great band**
I don't know why but Sameer reminds me of Jake Johnson from New Girl.
What were you guys giggling about thoughhhh
i think theyre so much better live
Are those "Blue" brand mics?
LOL AGREED!
1:15 he looks like "i wish you stfu!" lmao
Can anyone else figure out how the bm and a chords are fingered in the intro?
Hello, anyone know the chords right at the start of the song? Cant quite see his hands / work it out myself. Any help always appreciated :)
yep got those guys... I'm after the intro chords before the start of the song. thanks 😀
Sean Davies It starts with the Emaj, goes to X50400 then to X40400. Mute the low E string (denoted by X in the chords above) and strum open on the other strings. Hope that helps!
I think its X40200 instead of X40400
@spm04 use your ear bro its like all major chords
Does anyone know the specific chords he uses in the intro? :)
+William Elgan you can usually find them online I use this app on my phone its called tabs its only about 2 bucks but it has a bunch of songs not all are 100% accurate because people write them but I love it
"before i knew of love" -a.k.a. before i knew if Young the Giant.
i've realised who that guitarist reminds me of! JASON LEE!
@pinerdo12 is**
